I have been reccing fics over there every Friday for FFF (Feature fic friday), and have recced a couple fics before that too. I]ve also recced books a couple times over there, but I figured I'd rather have a blog to recc stuff on for organisation (and my peace of mind).
I am rather busy so it'll be a while before I have finished rb all of the ones I've recced here, and until then I'll be posting over there.
Maybe later I'll make a kind of master list or something, but not right now.
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Lady Smallwood, John Watson.
Summary:
In the aftermath of Sherrinford, Sherlock is becoming a good man. Somewhere inside him, however, there's a lost little boy who never got to mourn his friend.
I loved the.. redemption (though that's not entirely the right word) this gave Mycroft. Sherlock has to deal with way too much for his own good by the end, and I'm glad that Mycroft got his chance to be with his brother. Properly. I hated how everything is thrown onto both brothers. They aren't the bad guys but they keep on being basically treated like bad guys, especially towards the ending. They just deserve a week or twenty with just the two of them, without all the people trying to put more on their plates when they are literally so wonderful. Most people as brilliant as them, very rightly, become evil. I mean I can't even blame them, except for that they never suffer like my sweet boys do. Both of them had full right to be evil but they are good people so they aren't. The show is just so mean to them 😭
Relationship: Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes, Eurus and Sherlock Holmes.
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Eurus Holmes
Summary:
After the first violin concert between Sherlock and Eurus, Mycroft comes to the conclusion it shall be his last. From now on, he just observes their interactions from safe distance. However, one day Sherlock starts to play a song that intrigues Eurus and - subsequently - Mycroft. Who is he playing for?
The fic leaves a bit left to be said, but what I take from it is that Sherlock isn't as bothered by Eurus as he is with Mycroft and he cares for Mycroft and that's basically all I look for these days lol.
Enola needs to keep better track of her previous engagements. Especially when it’s THE engagement, and now she finds herself late to her own wedding. Sherlock has been zero help in this regard. Fortunately, they have another brother.
Characters: Enola Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock Holmes
Relationship: Sherlock, Enola, and Mycroft Holmes; Enola/Tewkesbury
Snippet:
“Well, I’ve not brushed it at all this week. I’ve simply forgotten… and was it Wednesday, I slept outside in the alley?” She elbowed Sherlock.
His coat sleeve finally came free. “No, that was Tuesday.”
I'm leaving the chaotic part of the story for you to discover 😆

Summary:
There have been talks.
Sirius and Remus seem so close, surely there must be something going on? Except then James Potter comes back.
And suddenly everyone is starting to doubt their earlier assumptions when they see him and Sirius interact. Maybe the way Sirius acted before wasn't anything special? It surely doesn’t seem so, compared to this.
Meanwhile James only knows that everyone believes Sirius and Remus are both smitten with each other. Misunderstandings ensue, until James sees the way Remus treats Sirius and decides he will not stand for that.
Snippet:
“Ugh, don’t tell me you’re talking about that again?”
Affronted, Hermione crosses her arms. “So what if we are? It’s still more new than your pranks.”
Fred and George gave matching gasps and James was almost inclined to do the same. Insulting a marauder’s quality of pranks was a low blow.
“Take that back!” Fred threatened and Hermione scoffed, retorting in a way that had the twins seething in anger.
On the side, Ginny chewed loudly in agreement, somehow procuring another pair of cookies from her pockets. The sound reminded James so much of Peter and his love for sweets, that it striked like a well-aimed curse into his back, stabbing at his spine.
He’d been gone for so long. One of his best friends a traitor, another locked in Azkaban for a crime he didn’t even commit…
Was it really so crazy? That the last two of their group, the only ones left, grew closer with all the loss around them, the feelings blossoming into more? How could so many of the people in the house think there was something going on if there was nothing to notice? Could there really be some truth to it? Were they…already together?
No. No way.
He knew his friends, he would have noticed. He must have, with all the staring he did Sirius’ way for years.
“Just felt the need for a change.”
James hummed.
He was about done with change, but he supposed Sirius must be feeling quite differently, and he was more than entitled to do whatever he pleased. No matter how much James missed their little rituals, what mattered was that Sirius even wanted to play with him instead of seeking out someone else.
Like Remus , whispered the tiny voice in his mind, as it sometimes did since that terrible conversation with Ginny and Hermione. James pretended like he couldn’t hear it.
If Sirius wanted to spend time with Remus, of course he could. They were friends, it was only normal.
His gaze fell down. The chess board showed he was winning, overwhelmingly so which made him stop for a second. He could count the times he’d bested Sirius so easily without using any fingers. Their matches were always give and take, with the score that tended to even out on the exact amount of wins and loses between both of them.
Maybe Sirius was luring him into a false sense of victory? It wouldn’t be the first time, though it wasn’t his most common tactic.

Snippet:
"And sleeping's the way to do that?"
"Pretty sure," James said.
Sirius hummed tiredly, eyes already sliding shut.
Mycroft was on his way to get himself a cup of tea in the kitchen, but halted and rolled his eyes as he saw that his eight year old little brother was propped up on the sofa, watching The Shining.
“This isn’t a film for little boys, brother mine.”
Sherlock only glared at him. “I’m not a little boy, Mycroft.”
“Well, it’s not for eight year old boys, and not for Sherlock Holmes.” On the screen, Jack Nicholson was speaking to the hotel manager; Sherlock hadn’t seen much yet.
Sherlock seemed to be trying to sit as tall as possible. “If anything, this film is too childish for me,” he declared haughtily. “All the usual clichés - I’m not impressed.” Mycroft couldn’t help but smile a little at this statement. Given that the film had just started, Sherlock couldn’t possibly know whether it would go through the usual clichés, but Mycroft had said much the same thing about The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to Mummy about a month ago (he had only sat through it because she had insisted that he should accept Parker’s invitation, who had invited all the prefect boys to his house - the movie had been most tedious, although at least another boy had brought cigarettes), and his little brother was fond of repeating his words.
He made himself look stern. “I’m warning you Sherlock, I won’t let you come into my bed tonight. And if you need the loo at two in the morning, you will go by yourself.”
The brat merely snorted and turned his attention back to the film.
---
It was midnight. Mycroft was walking along the hallway, ready to turn in for the night, when he saw the light spilling from under his brother’s door.
“Sherlock,” he scolded as he entered the room. “Lights out.”
Sherlock was not reading or working with substances - the usual activities that prompted him to stay up past his bedtime. He was in his bed, hugging his bee plushie to his chest. “I’m doing an experiment, Mycroft. How light affects sleep.”
“It disrupts sleep because the brain produces melatonin when it gets dark. Now go to sleep.”
But as his hand went to the light switch, Sherlock sat up in bed. “My, don’t!” The bee had rolled down from the boy’s chest, and Mycroft’s eyes widened as he saw what his brother had been hiding under it.
“A kitchen knife??” Five quick strides, and he yanked it out of the little boy’s hands, ignoring protests. “For God’s sake!”
“Give it back! I need it!”
Mycroft let out an irritated sigh. “It’s just a film, Sherlock. None of it is real.”
“I’m not scared,” his brother insisted. “I’m just. . . prepared in case a burglar attacks me.”
“And why would a burglar enter your room, little brother?” he asked with an arched eyebrow. “Do you imagine they’d come in here to steal your bee lamp?”
Sherlock puffed out his lower lip. “They might kidnap me and hold me for ransom, Mycroft. It’s an entirely plausible scenario.”
“That’s very unlikely. One look at the dead insects on your desk will terrify them and send them running.”
Sherlock’s eyes widened, and he giggled. “They'll think I'm a psychopath. But I'm not a psychopath, I’m a sociopath.”
“And where did you pick up that word, brother mine?” He thought he knew the answer.
“From that boring thing you were reading. The one about, um. . .” The boy frowned for a moment. “The first sociopathic personality.”
“The primary and secondary sociopathic personality,” Mycroft corrected. “Do you know what a sociopath is?” The look on Sherlock’s face told him clearly that he had no idea. “Well, I assure you that you are not a sociopath.”
“I am!” his little brother insisted. “And I also heard one of the boys at school calling you a sociopath.”
That took Mycroft a little by surprise. Not so much the fact that some boy had called him a sociopath behind his back, but he was somewhat startled that his brother would remember such an incident. School had been out for a month and a half.
Sherlock’s face had gone from stubborn to slightly uncertain. “Sociopaths are very smart and very dangerous, aren’t they?”
Mycroft found himself feeling pleased, and any disagreeable thoughts he might have had about some goldfish calling him a sociopath (and he had no doubt that he wasn’t the only one) were forgotten. “Sociopathy has nothing to do with intellectual capability,” he explained. “We can talk about it tomorrow, but now it’s time to sleep.”
“Sleeping’s boring!” Sherlock whinged.
“Good night, Sherlock,” he said firmly. “I’m going downstairs to return this knife to its proper place. When I come back, I don’t want to see that the light is on in your room. Is that clear?” Mycroft expected a pout from Sherlock, and indeed there was one, but also something else. . . His brother looked scared and miserable.
Mycroft sighed. “Go to my room, Sherlock. I’ll be there in a moment.” The boy gave a happy little cry and jumped out of his bed. “But the next time you don't listen to me and watch a movie that’s not for you, you’ll deal with the consequences yourself.” Sherlock nodded, although Mycroft doubted he believed him.
His little brother collected his bee from where it had fallen, ran quickly towards him. . . and hugged him around the middle. “Thank you, My.”
Mycroft squeezed him. “You might not want to thank me, because we're sleeping with the lights out.”
Sherlock shrugged. “So? You’ll be there.”
As he made his way towards the stairs, Mycroft Holmes saw his little brother dashing towards his room with his bee plushie in his arms out of the corner of his eye.

Summary:
The last time Sherlock saw his brother was at Christmas. Though he didn't bother speaking to him, Sherlock has always been able to communicate with his brother with mere glances. His were a bit not good.
It takes him a shameful eleven weeks to realize that since then he's heard nary a word.
When he and John discuss it, in what has become their new stilted normal, they realize that Lestrade is also gone.
What they find is far worse than Sherlock could have ever imagined.
In order to heal, our heroes are going to have to learn how to forgive, how to communicate and perhaps most importantly, how to love.
Snippets:
Welp. I've read this thing in four days I believe
And SO much wonders have happened I'm not even sure which to pick (that don't spoilt too much.)
The next morning, Sherlock, having watched the clock’s hands move at a glacial speed all night, bites the bullet at 3:58am and calls his brother.
It’s to no avail.
Mycroft doesn’t pick up.
Mycroft has never not picked up.
John feels his blood pool at his feet, feels the cold terror that runs through his veins and just barely manages to get himself out of his stupor long enough to ensure Sherlock doesn’t crack his head on the stained concrete when he faints.
“Fact: Sherlock had to assimilate dying because there was sniper on you, Ms. Hudson and me. One of my own, on the force, worked for Moriarty. If Sherlock hadn’t jumped all three of us would have been executed.”
John has heard the term “felt like the world fell out from under me.” Though he’s only experienced it once, The Fall, he recognizes it immediately. He can do little more than stand there, frozen on the spot, forced to listen, as Gregory lays everything out in front of him. As Greg forces him to see that he lacks in character and humanity. As Gregory forces him to acknowledge that for all that he thought he knew, he actually knew nothing.
“Fact: when he left it was to disband Moriarty’s vast network. It took him a year and a half because he got captured twice. The second time, Mycroft went in himself to pull him out.
Fact: Sherlock was tortured. Whipped across his back with barbed instruments.
Fact: When your first purview of him, freshly back from the grave was to throw him on the ground and pummel him, you undid carefully done stitches that had to be redone and redressed by yours truly because Sherlock wouldn’t let anyone else touch him.
Fact: I have been friends with Mycroft for a long time because Sherlock has been an addict for a long time. Not a user. A addict.
Fact: Mycroft never bribed me for information on Sherlock. I gave it willingly because more than once I found Mycroft crying to a god he doesn’t believe in to keep his baby brother alive.
Sherlock turns and look at him and the competency in his eyes is breathtaking. The Sherlock before him isn’t the same one who ambles about without direction. He doesn’t flounce or shoot walls. This is Sherlock stepping up to fill a role left by Mycroft. John could say he’s fallen into another role, but it would be a lie. Sherlock is multi-faceted and the situation has only galvanized him.
John’s eyes dance down his bare forearm where his sleeves are already rolled up- he’s ready to work. “I’m really proud of you, you know.”
He won’t even denying how much he enjoys the rosiness that fills the tops of Sherlock’s cheekbones. “Bloody cheekbones.” It’s a small jibe but it does as he hoped and Sherlock laughs, his shoulders relaxing. “Yes, you’ve mentioned that a time or two.”
Sherlock paces as he speaks, “Set up additional security on Baker St. Don’t tell them why, just let them know that Ms. Hudson and little Rosie will be needing permanent car services. I don’t want them getting into a single cab that hasn’t been vetted. Station someone at Rosie’s day care and let them know that if she so much as gets a paper cut they’ll be sent to Serbia. I need you to handle that first. After that, I need a CCTV visual that I can have access to 24/7, John and I both, of the entranceway to 221 Baker Street. I want to be able to see what’s happening at every moment of the day. If you can have it integrated to my cell device, that would be optimal. This is the first priority.”
He steeples his fingers, thinking. “When that is completed, I need John to be added as Mycroft’s personal doctor, that way he can be a registered British Government employee and subsequently, add his therapist so that he can continue to see her. I have gone over many of the regulations, policies, and procedures with her but feel free to go over it again. Please do not overlook doing a thorough back ground check on her and those in her inner circle. We don’t need another incident like Eu- like before to happen again.”
He sits and looks at her. “And then you can bring me the files. I need to get a feel for how Mycroft operates. In the mean time, I’ll start looking at these. Oh, and Anthea? I’ll need a case board.”
Sherlock looks so much in his element that it takes Enola reaching over to close John’s jaw for him. She grins before winking at him knowingly. She leans over and sing-songs in his ear. Sherlock and Johnny, kissing in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G
“I keep forgetting that I’m the current British Government.” Sherlock responded, a wry tone in his voice. John had pulled his head back looking at him pensively.
“Oh. You haven’t done an experiment in ages have you?” His observation skills are really progressing.
“It’s fine, John. This comes first.”
That might have been the end of it had Mycroft not been walking over, inevitably hearing them.
“I know experiments.”
“And even with Rosie, there are plenty of people that are willing to step in and watch over her.” John adds. “I can also help. Now that I’m a posh MI6, you’ll have at least one person you can trust on the team.”
It’s clear that was something the Holmes brothers had forgotten about, because the surprise on their faces is identical.
John grins at Greg. “I love when we render them speechless.”
He glances at her but looks away again as Sherlock resumes. So quietly they almost can’t hear him.
“You broke him. We broke him. I broke him. It was almost irreparable.” They hear as his voice shakes. “If I ever lost my brother- he told me once that my loss would break his heart. I didn’t know to take those words to heart. I was foolish. Now I understand because if I lost my brother, his loss would break my heart. I need him. I need him in my life, a perpetual presence, healthy and whole and more than that I want him in my life. I want to celebrate every milestone with him, every victory and every loss. He is very important to me and his continued existence both in life and in my own is non-negotiable.”
“You’re choosing him over us then.” A statement.
“Irrefutably. Mummy, daddy…you are not welcome here. Not now, not ever. Anthea will show you out.”
I want to ADD so many other bits but I've got to stop at some point lol

Summary:
It’s always about life and death situations even during tea and wine when it’s the Holmes brothers.
Snippet:
Because that was the thing when Mycroft Holmes, the British Government Head and the most intelligent man the world will never know, is your brother. The constant trapping and manipulation in order to divert conversations in the angle most suitable and favorable to him alone. Sherlock was never spared from his uncanny ability to get what he wants when he wanted to—Mycroft was a prick like that. Actually, Sherlock was his constant target just because he was the younger brother. Sherlock had made himself believe Mycroft does it just to entertain himself.
Mycroft looked innocently back at him and pointed his umbrella on Sherlock’s bedroom door.
But Sherlock was unable to finish his thoughts as a loud cracking sound of window glasses breaking rang in the air. The younger Holmes’ eyes found the cracked spot on the window at once—a bullet hole—but what had Sherlock reeling was Mycroft dropping on the floor. Dead.
Sherlock froze. He watched as his brother’s clean gray suit bled from his heart, the small spot quickly turning into a pool of red that dyed everything in his eyes. Sherlock rushed to kneel beside him, holding his older brother but it was too late. Mycroft was gone. Sherlock raised his shaking hands before him and found no blood. Not a trace. He looked down Mycroft’s face but only saw a shadow lying on the floor.
“Did you hear me, Mycroft? Start fixing your life—you’re a mess!”
“Maybe.” Mycroft shrugged. “But I’ll keep utilizing the knowledge if it keeps you coming back from crack dens, Sherlock.”
I'm too excited to even promote this properly but basically my legs killing me so I was sharing Holmes Brother HCs with @whenyoulikeandwhereyoulike and then Ientioned childhood nicknames and chaos during board games and we talked and now she's gone and made a fic and gifted it to me and it is so cute I want to squish the fic up. And the author. I want to squish you up too. I want to squish all of both of you up!!😍😍😍😍😍
Sherlock doesn’t reply no matter how he begs or pleads.
It is the longest forty five minutes of his life.
“He’s alive you know. They both are.” Lestrade states softly.
“I know.” Mycroft replies just as quiet. Lestrade nods and takes a last slip of his horrible coffee. He goes to stand up to throw it away, but thinks better of it and stays where he is.
Side by side, Mycroft and Lestrade wait for the coming of the dawn and news.
Oh. Good. Sherlock had done it again. He always did.
“Lestrade...Please be quiet. You don’t want to...to-”
This was why he had called Sherlock wasn’t it. Because you could always count on Sherlock to figure it out. He was the greatest man he knew and without him...why was there a head?
Mycroft had slipped into the room sometime before dawn, bringing decent coffee and details of the accident with him. He wasn’t surprised to see John had fallen asleep, choosing to use his brother as a pillow. Sherlock wasn’t doing anything, but was just staring at the opposite wall. He wrinkled his nose at the smell of coffee but otherwise didn’t move when Mycroft entered the room.

James grins and lies down on the thin pillow, trying to get comfortable. “Don't worry. I have a feeling you're totally incapable of disappointing me.”
“Such high praise from someone who barely knows me.” Sirius rolls onto his side so he faces James. Their eyes meet over the barely there distance between them and hold.
“Maybe I just have to get to know you, then.” James says like a soft promise.

Snippet:
Mycroft returned to Mummy’s bedside. His gaze was split between the bed and the empty chair. The time was approaching when decisions would need to be made.
He lowered his hand and stared at his hands, folded in his lap.
A takeaway cup of coffee appeared in his peripheral vision. Sherlock set it down silently on the table next to Mycroft, then crossed to his chair. He sat, then reached into his coat pocket and threw something at Mycroft.
Mycroft caught it, and examined the small stuffed toy frog from the gift shop in the lobby. He looked up at Sherlock. Sherlock sipped his own coffee, and looked at Mummy.
Mycroft swallowed, and drank his coffee.
I loved this! Not the fluffiest of fics, but not half as angsty as some of the things I've read haha

Or, an ocean away:
"I knew that jerk would claim his favour back one day. Goddamn it".
Snippet:
Oh which to choose which to choose??
He just feels wrong, out of his body and out of his mind and breathless and useless to stop the inevitable danger that will take the people he loves the most away from him. Still, he listens to the only voice that will always make it through the layers and layers of walls he’s wrapped himself in over the years like it’s as easy as solving a labyrinth from above.
And now-
What the hell was he about to say? Wilson is dying to know. For some reason, he’s too embarrassed to ask. And House hasn’t said anything else. He’s starting to get anxious.
He doesn’t know what to do with his hands, so he goes to grab a piece of carrot from the side salad, if only just to keep his hands occupied-
“I wouldn’t touch that.”
“No,” Sherlock replies. “Call Mycroft and tell him to bring you to the address I’m going to send you.”
“I don’t have Mycroft’s number,” Wilson gets his head out of his own ass enough to reply.
“No, but John does,” Sherlock answers. “I left his phone charging in the room, it should be there still. The password is Rosie’s birthday.”
‘So now what?’
‘Now, if you’d like, we could finish the work together.’ Sherlock look at Rosie. ‘How would you like spending a few hours with Mrs. Hudson?’ Rosie lit up.
‘Only if you tell me a bedtime story later,’ she said. The three of them knew what she actually meant by bedtime story. Truly, were kids her age supposed to be entertained by true crime mysteries? All the same, Sherlock thought. If it was what she wanted, that is what she would get, societal norms be damned.
‘Ask your dad,’ he still replied, because societal norms could be damned, but John’s could not. Rosie looked at him.
‘Yeah, sure,’ John said, expectedly.
