hey y'all!! i'm back at it again — meaning i'm bored, it's a dreary autumn, and i'm finding myself retreating back to cutsey fantasylands in my mind 🥰 listed below are a few plot ideas i've had in my notesapp for a while — as always, send an ask or a private message if you'd be interested in any of these up !! happy writing !!

childhood sweethearts (on the rocks)

a plot where muse a and muse b have been friends since childhood — here and there, they would have a one night stand, but never really allowed themselves to progress into anything more than just friends. now, as adults who are figuring out the dating scene isn’t as easy as their parents made it seem, muse a and muse b are seeing each other more and more frequently. eventually, muse a starts seeing someone new, and has less and less time for muse b. i’m talking jealousy, tension!!! muse b realizing maybe they’ve had feelings for muse a the whole time, muse a having to make tough decisions — either continue dating this new person or hurt muse b!!! i liiiiive for drama pls

childhood sweethearts (with a twist)

okay but a plot where close childhood friends reunite — except muse a was in love with muse b growing up, and muse b became muse a’s best friend’s high school sweetheart. muse a concealed their feelings for muse b all throughout their friendship, in high school & college, although both muses definitely had feelings & felt sparks for one another long before muse b started dating muse a’s best friend. despite the connection they’d felt, neither wanted to jeopardize any of the friendships between the three, and ultimately, muse b ended up married to muse a’s bff… except now, years later, muse a and muse b reunite at muse a’s best friend’s funeral. imagine the hurt of losing a loved one but having the comfort of yet another loved one?? blurred lines, tension, second-guesses…….

let me take care of you (southern charm)

okay so i’ve been kicking around a ranch hand plot where muse a is looking for help around the ranch they’ve just inherited due to a death in the family, and seeing as they’re just one person with lots of land, and virtually no knowledge on how to take care of it, it’s impossible to go it all on their own… enter muse b. muse b, a man who not only knows how to work the land but can take care of the ranch with ease, finds it impossible to not take care of muse a, while he's at it. just give me texan sunsets and lovers with low static music crooning in the background from some vinyl record please & ty

friends with benefits (with feelings)

a friends with benefits plot where muse a is dead-set, hellbent on not having a relationship and not getting too intimately involved with muse b; muse b has been in love with muse a for years, and muse a knows this, but still can’t bring themselves to get emotionally attached. i need tensionnnn and like, a lil toxicity ykwim??? for the angst omg 

will you come find me (after the after party?)

so hear me out — a plot where muse a and muse b met at a friend of a friend’s party & instantly hit it off. muse a is immediately infatuated with muse b — they laugh, talk, drink; they even make an incredible beer pong team. at some point during the night, muse a decides to put the moves on muse b. however, after leaving to get them some drinks, muse a comes back to find muse b kissing someone else… and to make it worse? it’s their boyfriend/girlfriend. tbh this plot could have the potential of a shakespearean comedy if we did it right akdjgh ok i'm talking messssssssyyyy 

you feel like home (but i’ve got a different address)

okay so i need a tense plot where muse a and muse b are soulmates, beyond the shadow of a doubt — but muse a is married to a nightmare of a spouse. little by little, they spend more time together one on one, but it’s getting increasingly harder for muse b to see muse a with their spouse, especially knowing how that spouse treats muse a. idk this is a rough plot/work in progress plot but i feel like it has potential to go somewhere!!!

𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞 / muse a and muse b have this flirty situationship ⸻ they’re sweet and sour, like pink lemonade on a summer day. muse a is an optimist, always looking for the bright side, even when muse b is distant or pulling away. their dynamic is like the perfect summer fling. muse a wants to believe there’s more than just a fling, but every time they bring it up, muse b either disappears or drowns it in sweet talk and promises that taste good but fade away quickly. muse a is stuck in that in-between, waiting for the ice to melt in a cold drink, knowing that something sweet and refreshing won’t last forever.

𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 / muse a and muse b are best friends who have been dancing around their feelings for years. they’ve never let themselves slip, never let the world see that their touches last a little too long. but one night, at a crowded party, they can’t hold back anymore. they’re kissing in public ⸻ and it's undeniable. the thrill of it all tastes electric, but as they come up for air, they’re faced with the reality: what now? everyone saw. there’s no more hiding behind jokes. it’s either everything or nothing, and neither of them is sure which they’re ready for.

baby number who? au where our muses already have multiple kids and have tried their best to use birth control and condoms but whoops here comes another one aka time to call tlc for your own reality cause damn.

does the paper boy deliver babies now or what au where our muses get home after a lovely evening or wake up to a baby on their front door with a note saying “i can no longer care for my baby, but i’m sure you two will do a great job.” uh oh what will they do.

godparents au where the parents of our muses godchild(ren) pass away in a horrible accident and now the responsibility of a godparent sets in.

my teacher gave me a baby au where our muses are professor and student and they do the do and oh shit shouldn’t have used that old condom in his wallet cause now you have more than homework.

double trouble au where our muses have given up trying for a baby and decide for adoption. but only months after they adopt their baby, they finally get pregnant without even trying and now they get the best of both worlds.

i don’t think babies are supposed to do that au where our muses are completely clueless about the supernatural world and they adopt/find a baby and as the baby grows it does a bunch of weird things depending on what kind of creature it is omg.

muse a is a criminal that owns a technically-legal-but-shady business (casino, strip club, nightclub, etc.) that doubles as a front for their definitely-not-legal business. muse b is a brand-new employee. despite them not being in the shady business and rather low on the ranks (and thus, usually not even a blip on muse a’s radar), muse b catches muse a’s eye one night, and the two begin to talk and hang out at work – and that quickly turns into a relationship. the two genuinely fall for each other, and muse a slowly brings muse b further into their world, once they’re sure their criminal activities won’t scare muse b off.

except there’s something muse a doesn’t know. muse b was hired by a rival criminal (or possibly the feds) to act as a spy, collecting info on muse a’s shady dealings in exchange for a huge chunk of change.

i’ve  spent  the  past  few  days  binge  watching  maid,  and  will  someone  please  give  me  a  ship  with  the  potential  that  nate  and  alex  had ?    muse  a  recently  left  their  emotionally  abusive  spouse  with  nothing  more  than  the  clothes  on  their  back  and  their  two - year - old  child.    after  a  month  of  struggling  to  keep  a  roof  over  their  head  and  food  in  their  bellies,  they  meet  muse  b,  who  has  recently  gone  through  a  divorce  of  their  own  and  is  now  adjusting  to  life  as  a  single  parent.    but  while  muse  a  is  surviving  on  pocket  change,  muse  b  has  a  successful  career  and  a  nice  home.    without  even  hesitating,  muse  b  offers  to  help  muse a  in  any  way  that  they  can    —    from  giving  muse  a  a  reliable  car  to  offering  muse  a  their  guest  room.    muse  b  has  had  a  crush  on  muse  a  since  they  were  kids  in  high  school,  but  muse  a  was  already  head - over - heels  for  the  person  that  they’re  now  in  the  process  of  divorcing.    cue  cute  parenting  moments,  late  nights  sitting  at  the  kitchen  table  after  the  kids  are  asleep  catching  up  after  all  these  years,  the  weight  of  muse  b’s  unresolved  feelings,  and  the  hope  that  maybe  this  time  muse  a  will  start  to  feel  the  same.

a plot in which it’s been months since muse a & muse b had a nasty and difficult break up that took a toll on both of them — where they went from talking every day, all day, to no contact at all, the kind that brought heartbreak and changed their views on love and commitment. only now it seems that muse a has moved on while muse b remains stuck in the relationship they once had, still far gone in muse a — as in, calling your name while having sex with someone else in a poor attempt to get you out of my mind gone. so the same night that happens, muse b goes out to a club with every intention of drowning their sorrows in alcohol until they forget their own name, and especially muse a’s, but surprise surprise, guess who’s also there :-) they run into each other while muse b is pissed off and maybe muse a has a date, maybe they’re on a night out trying to do the exact same thing, who knows?? we’ll make up the rest as we go

ok but a verse where muse a and muse b are exes and they go on a skiing trip with their mutual friends every year and it’s the first year they’ve been broken up but the friends really want them to get back together so they tell both of them that the other isn’t going and then when they show up it’s like !!! and it can be cliche like maybe muse a is dating someone new that muse b didn’t know about it but muse b finds out when one of the friends accidentally mentions that they all hate muse a’s significant other and they’re arguing constantly and can’t stand to be in the same room and a blizzard comes so they lose power and it’s freezing and everyone else paired up to cuddle for warmth so the muses are forced into it and it’s all ‘get your feet away from me they’re cold as fuck’ and ‘do you really have to breathe so loud right in my ear’ and ‘you used to like when i held you like this’ and that makes them smile a little and suddenly it gets all fond but muse a is still dating someone !!!

just thinkin some thoughts rn but ... give me more messy exes plots. exes who can’t give each other up even though they know they should. exes who keep falling back into old habits because they don’t know any different. exes who still have to live together because money is tight and they can’t afford to find a place of their own. exes who swear up and down that they hate each other’s guts but keep doing everything in their power to make the other jealous, only leading to rough fucking and whispered i hate yous that sound a hell of a lot like i love you and in the morning they pretend nothing happened. exes who still share the same group of friends and are forced to hang out together all the time. exes with tension and unresolved feelings. exes who have to co-parent their baby/kid. exes who broke up right before an already paid all expenses trip where they couldn’t cancel or they’d lose their money so they have to go on a romantic trip even though everything’s changed. exes who were friends first and don’t know how to go back to that or if friendship is the only thing they still want. exes who keep finding ways to hurt each other because it’s the only way they know how to feel. just ... ✨ messy exes ✨
