Blue’s mad at him, furious even, forwhat he’s planning on doing on this last mission. Of course, she has everyright to be.
The mission itself hadn’t gone well; they’dbeen surrounded and forced to retreat, even with five giant, mechanical lionsthat could form the almighty V O L T R O N. Even as the five paladins, they couldonly do so much without so much as an army of their own. Which was why Lancewas doing this in the first place. He hadn’t given Blue the chance to convincehim of otherwise—he knows it’s a stupid idea, one that he can’t come back from.Aqua paladin blocks out the images his lion feeds into his brain, of hisfamily, his friends, his old life, and his new one. Of Keith.
That’s a low blow, he thinks.
They were almost at the gate, theirescape route and way back to safety. Cobalt irises stare into the back of Keith’sred and white helmet, and he wonders if red paladin will be mad. Probably—that wasjust his style. But he can’t think about it much longer, they’re at the gateand Keith is almost home free for another day.
❝ Hey, Keith. I got something for ya. ❞
Only when he turns around to saysomething (probably scold Lance. They didn’t have time to sit and pass giftsaround.) does Lance move to quickly snatch Keith’s helmet off and press drylips on his own, pushing rouge back and S H O V I N G both bayard and helmet into himto send him away as he pulled back. A small, sad smile plays at his lips and he watches the gateclose between them. Keith’s too shocked to really give a reaction, but he doesn’twait to see what it would be, for he turns around and sets off the charges he’dset at the very beginning of the mission, closing off the gate completely, withKeith safe, and Lance running towards his end.
He hopes Keith will miss him.
