Star Trek fans, 2026: "Ugh, I hate Starfleet Academy! We need real Trek like we had in the 90s, like Voyager."
Star Trek fans, 2000s: "God these internet reviews are right, Voyager was literally unwatchable! It wasn't real Trek, like DS9!"
Star Trek fans, 1990s: "They don't even go anywhere! This oddly joyless book about Trek bloopers literally said the show should be called Bajor: Terek Nor! It wasn't real Trek, like TNG!"
Star Trek fans, 1980s: "TNG isn't even real Star Trek. Only the original is real Star Trek."
The world's largest Lost in Space Fan, 1966: "This upstart program will never displace Lost in Space in the hearts and minds of the people! Lost in Space will be the number one space opera show FOREVER!"
I have noticed in recent years that men say “no homo” way less often than they used to when I was in high school at least. Like I’ve witnessed in media and online and in person adult men just willing to say “I love you” or “you look great” to their guy friends without tacking a no homo onto the end of it.
And if you think that’s not progress you weren’t there in the trenches.
I’ve seen middle aged comedians on national tv sincerely say “I love you” to their friends with no jokes attached. Nature is so slow to heal but it is possible, I tell you. We have planted trees and seen them survive.
if you're ever wondering what popular media is getting wrong about basically any premodern society, the answer is that there are never enough lawsuits
there's a common idea that in the olden days all disputes were resolved through violence, but even in settings where that was true, people would still sue each other about it.
Like 80% of Icelandic sagas involve lawsuits. Sometimes against ghosts.
This worked to get rid of the ghosts, incidentally.
does anyone have that unsettling oil painting of a dark window with a sheet leading out into the darkness? it did the rounds on tumblr a while ago and i need itttt

Litmus test for “is the brightness on your phone too low for art appreciation”
I turned the brightness all the eye-searingly way up and it just seems like tree branches to me?

THERE’S BEEN A DOG IN THIS PICTURE THE WHOLE TIME??

Decided I don’t want to wear SMALL PANTS to climb. I want to wear BIG PANTS. But I only own SMALL PANTS.

"maybe it's not your pussy" is such a funny phrase and also correct. People wonder why chores are so hard and it's like, friends we used to have a whole intergenerational team on this and now Grandma is locked in a beige box. Cooking is hard.
Reblog the problem is capitalism and not your pussy

This looks like art from a 1980s pop album.

I'm so blessed bc apparently a new marvel movie came out and I haven't heard a thing about it and don't know what it is 💕
I just want to remind you that sometimes your life really doesn't begin until you are 26+... Romanticizing and obsessing over our youth is harmful. Growing up is beautiful. Discovering who you are and how you interact with the world is a gift. Maturing and learning what you truly want out of life and living in that purpose brings fulfillment and peace. Your life is not over in your early 20's because you haven't figured it out yet, it's just beginning.
