I didn’t have “Occtis saving Julien from Thjazi, who was trying to save Thimble, who was trying to save Teor, who was merked by Juliens dad” on my bingo card tbh. What an episode

A group of Bolaires is called a murder 🎭⚰️
Some Julien sketches based on Matt's amazing facial features (and a bonus Occtis). This was equal parts fun and frustrating - it's a fun exercise, but dang if it isn't tricky. There was a lot more I wanted to do, but I just hit that point where everything starts to look bad, so I have to just call this sketch page done. So these are a bit all over the place, but hey, practice is practice.
Why do you care?
Follow up to this from November
I think Julien has his hand on his rapier hilt this entire time and is fighting every impulse. But while he's hearing all this and glancing here, he's glancing back at you.
Critical Role Campaign 4, Episode 31: Trick of the Light
See, the thing is, Occtis looks around at the ritual and the Hallowed Round and the fair folk celebrating and he knows it's a good thing. He knows that if they weighed the risk to him against making the anchor, saving the ritual was the right choice. Even disconnecting him from the stone was a good thing in the end, though there was no way to know that at the time and some warning would have been nice.
What hurts is that Vaelus didn't even think about what would happen to him when she shattered the stone. None of them did. And he doesn't know that the reason she didn't think about him is that she was too preoccupied trying to decide between reuniting with her family and saving the ritual. Because she can't bring herself to tell him that. Even though it would help him understand.

I wonder if Julien will be angry at Vaelus for not considering what breaking the stone would do to Occtis, especially since she had been guarding it as a precious relic and Occtis was Team Birdwatching’s guide through the manor. If the stone had been shattered and Occtis failed his con save while they were still within the manner and surrounded by enemies, they all probably would’ve been dead in the water. I hope he does bring it up, that would be a very interesting conversation to watch
"Wicander, that one in five may be the end of your character's life."
Occtis has seven(7) deadbeat siblings so Julien has to step up
Alright let's talk about why Wick's not dead via Primus.
Because he's Yanessa's grandson.
I saw arguments regarding well Brennan went easy on Wick he had more bad rolls then Teor.
No that was Primus going I can't upset my most reliable ally because her grandson's an idiot. Wick failed his deception checks but kept up the act so Primus isn't sure what he was lying about only that the timing was suspicious.
After Wicander passes the "test" Primus dismisses Wicander as irrelevant to his situation at hand.
Does that mean Wicander is in the clear? Heck no. Both him and Tyranny have a mess to clean up. And Wick has effectively undone all the positive work he had in place at the sundered meeting.
Except with Petra and Ryah. From their perspective their father is becoming more unstable but an interested party came to check on them.
Thjazi is still the soul of a dead man
Most of the that Vaelus and company have communicated with have been a little bit out of it, mostly wavering along in the underworld with little idea of what’s happening in the material plane. They’ve been a bit vague, a little lost.
What if Thjazi is like that. He’s anchored to Julien and required to follow him, but he’s not actively participating most of the time. He’s not actually experiencing time really moving, everything is NOW and also NOWHERE unless he’s specifically in places where the veil is thin, at which point he gets some information about the world and moves back into the flow of time.
He flashes briefly aware when he gets stuck to Julien and passes under the cold iron nail. He’s there for the entire Royce attack from the moment that Primus kicks shit off, so he sees Aranessa panicked and injured and Occtis dead and Thaisha terrified, and also oh shit one of the Sisters of Sylandri tracked him down and his old friend Raimond Davinos, who supported him during the Falconer’s Rebellion, had his skull pulled out of his body.
He sees the Occtis revival from both sides and has absolutely no idea wtf is happening because it’s weird new magic and happening on both sides of the veil at once and using unfamiliar magic etc etc.
And then the next time he’s aware, Julien, Thaisha, Occtis, Vaelus, and two unknown women are headed toward Tannesar. We’ve already been to Tannesar, we got what we need from there, why are we going back there, turn the fuck around and go somewhere PRODUCTIVE Julien please for the love of the Path. He calms the fuck down when he figures out the plan and what’s happening, thankfully, and they’re able to complete that part of the mission. He then goes foggy when they cross out of the Barrowdell.
And then he wakes up and fucking. THIMBLE AND TEOR AND OCCTIS are with Julien IN THE CRYPTS OF OBRIMUS MANOR. And it’s fucking stupid and terrifying but he at least manages to get some fucking info out of it.
And then they get out, thank fuck, and he goes back into nothingness, except actually they’re back MINUTES later and THIMBLE IS IN DANGER so shut the fuck up Julien we have to go get her—
And then he’s gone again until he gets STABBED for a second what the hell, and then he’s HOLDING THE NAIL THAT BURNS HIM what the shit, and then finally they go to the Hallowed Round and then the cave and he gets a bit of context and gets to say goodbye to Cyd and Teor.
Its a love hate relationship with Julien and his shadow
So we can agree that Teors dice were cursed right? And Wicander usually rolls pretty well right? So can I just point out that after Wicander got Teor's death boon his rolls tanked hard.
Julien is not happy about his shadow
Part 2/2
Just a quick thought before tonight's show.
No one can speak with dead right now I believe, but...
If Julien puts on Bolaire are Thjazi, Julien, and Bolaire all in his little... theater of the mind?
