The Nativity (painted by Palestinian artists)
On Christmas Eve I found an amazing FB page: ‘The Art of Occupied Palestine.’ https://www.facebook.com/ArtOfPalestine/
It features a number of Nativity scenes painted by contemporary Palestinian artists.
Of the total Christian population of 154,000 in Israel, about 80% are designated as Arabs, many of whom self-identify as Palestinian. Christians number 20% of the 13 million Palestinians . The total number of people worldwide (including diaspora) with Palestinian Christian heritage is about half a million. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_Christians
Here are my favorite Nativity scenes I found on that webpage:
1. Palestinian artist: Sliman Mansour

“While Bethlehem is in the Palestinian-administered area of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Israel’s imposing separation barrier encloses parts of the city and is a constant reminder of the complex political reality.” https://apnews.com/a2184c99f78c8fdad02da69981ad562f
Here is a great short film discussing Christmas through the eyes of Arab Christians in Bethlehem
