The thing that I didn't realize when I first got diagnosed was that I was going to have to have scan after scan, blood test after blood test, doctor's appointment after doctor's appointment. And it's mentally exhausting on top of ridiculously expensive, not to mention the fatigue the condition already causes. My endocrinologist made it sound like 'just get this one scan, go to the parathyroid surgeon, you'll be done so quickly.

What a crock.

Meanwhile, I have had a sestamibi scan that failed to show any adenomas or enlarged parathyroid gland. So then I had an ultrasound. It showed a nodule/growth behind my thyroid that could possibly be my enlarged/bad parathyroid gland. But the 4D CT scan I had afterward said 'not so fast, that's just thyroid nodule, not parathyroid.' So now the doctor has ordered a biopsy of said nodule.

Bear in mind that each of these scans entails that I have a follow-up appointment with a doctor afterward and no, they won't just talk with me over the phone or video chat. So that's money in gas to go 30 minutes away each time on top of the appointment costs, which are about $100 per visit (because I'm self-pay). So now I have another test. Another doctor appointment coming up. THEN he will decide if I finally get my surgery.

I'm so tired, y'all. Mentally, physically, tired and in pain every day. And I'm so grateful to all who have helped me. I really am. If I could give you something in return, I would. But I am running on fumes and would appreciate any help anyone could give, or any shares.
