#obligated to reblog limmy on my dash but op why didn’t you post the whole rest of the clip!!!
ur so right
anyway. last night I had a dream that my local lesbian bar was hosting a “motionless dance party”. it was sort of like the inverse of a silent disco—the music is playing out loud but you’re doing all the dancing inside your own head. it was really successful like a lot of lesbians showed up to stand perfectly still in a room together and imagine what dancing would be like.
on debts and death
Harrow the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir &
The Spear Cuts Through Water, Simon Jimenez
ok last keema and jun...
i did not survive the freshly proto-god body linked river bath scene
I’m dying at the implication that after Jun and Keema get their godlike powers and have the ability to launch themselves high enough into the air to clear anti siege walls, they still can’t stick the landing. People are watching them achieve these feats of godhood and they just keep landing like
Jimenez, S (2022). The Spear Cuts Through Water, Del Ray, 445
I need more books like The Spear Cuts Through Water and Harrow the Ninth in my life.
Fantasy that plays with format and narration in a way that is inextricable from the story it is telling...
maybe I should read If On a Winters Night a Traveler....but I don't believe it has fantastical or horror elements(which I crave in my books).
i have reached the bit in the spear cuts through water where keema and jun start hearing each other's internal narration and the best i can do to express how i'm feeling right now is i need to eat this book which is.
well.
Anyway I think that locked tomb fans would love the spear cuts through water, especially if you love htn. Weird, dark, queer fantasy that messes with the idea of perspective and linear storytelling, as well as a beautiful tribute to oral storytelling and heritage...
also it made me want to tear my hair out and go feral in a way few other books have
I’ve only just realized that Jun and Keema are the only people able to remember the Inverted Theater…it’s no dream to them…
i love how in the spear cuts through water there's obviously a lot of pain and loss, but there's also so much love, and not just romantic either, like yes we've got jun and keema, but we've got the moon and the water too, uhi araya and the man who crafted the spear, his daughter and him, even her and her grandfather, the third terror and his caretaker, lola and the man, him and his brothers, him and life - truly a love story to its blade-dented bone
so I finished the spear cuts through water
do you think when keema and jun telepathically jerked each other off the moon could feel it
Oh man The Third Terror, The Child, he breaks my heart so much. Im so glad he got a peacefull end, dispite it being so bittersweet. He got his homoerotic duel with the man he feel in love with, even if the man did not love him back and was only doing that to save his own beloved. He got to be reunited with his mom, even if it were just her bones. He was satisfied. It was so little, but for the first time in his life he was satisfied.
Im sorry you fell in love with Keema whose heart was already taken. There are a lot of monster fuckers around here who would have loved you
Uhi Araya loved that Keema of the Daware tribe was of something.
Uhi who gave up the Induun name for love. Uhi who took the name of a nobody blacksmith and kept it till they both died.
OOOO YOU WANT TO READ THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER!!!!!!!! OOO YOU WANT TO READ IT SO BAD!!!!
