Hey so I just saw your post about Fandom Police issues on real situations with incest, adultxminor and other shit. Which is really gross because why would you allow such ideas?
Especially since most of the fanfic was either to make bl because women (white women) specifically hated a certain woman with the main lead (like sinners and other fandoms with a black woman in love with the main character) as well as racism in the fandom works to replace black woman in certain fandoms?
Not saying they will all act like this but you do know you still have Minors around. Not just minor but also yt derange writers with serious issues that should not be encouraged right? Surely you've seen the pedo fics on AO3? This is not ok. Why would you allow that on your page?
I don’t even know which post you’re referring to because there are hundreds of them, but if by “real situations” you mean rpf then what I say is that it makes me uncomfortable but I don’t think I can stop people from writing it, and I will not harass anybody because of it either when I can just choose to not read it. and if the person who’s being written about wants it taken down—or if they want to somehow take legal action—then that is… not my business.
the entire second paragraph of your ask is just ?????? absolutely ridiculous. so what if women love yaoi. I am a woman. I love yaoi. I’ve been writing and reading about yaoi for years.
“woman writes about mlm ships because they hate female characters” well if that bothers you so much then YOU write about what YOU want instead of shaming others FOR THE HOBBIES THEY DO FOR THEMSELVES.
also, no, I don’t think women write about yaoi “because they hate female characters”. the same reason why people who love waffles don’t automatically hate pancakes. but even if some of them hate female characters then hating fictional characters is still not a crime.
“it’s racist to —” it’s fanfiction. it’s not an activism. whether or not a fanfic is racist depends entirely on the intention of the authors. and too bad that is something we will never know. but if it’s bothers you then filter it out. personally I have never seen anything that fits what you’ve just described before, but when I do see something that bothers me, I either scroll past it or block/filter it out.
“BUT THERE ARE MINORS” yeah well it’s their parents’ jobs to teach them about what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate for them to consume when they’re on the internet. especially when most people already tag their warnings properly. fanfic writers are not anybody’s babysitter. we don’t have to censor ourselves to cater to the comfort of minors. that’s not our job or responsibility.
“deranged writers with serious issues” HOW do you KNOW they are “deranged writers with serious issues”, exactly? because they write dark and taboo fanfiction? well in that case I am a deranged writer with serious issues and I am encouraging more people to be deranged writers with serious issues.
“surely you’ve seen pedo fics on AO3” no, because I don’t go looking for it. but even if I do come across one, I just scroll past it because it’s not my thing. that does NOT mean I will harass anyone who writes or reads it. because the “victims” of the “pedo fics” you talk about are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. they are FANTASIES, THOUGHT CRIMES THAT ARE NOT REAL. it’s not my business if strangers hurt FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. and no real person deserves to be shamed or harassed because they harm FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.
“why would you allow that on your page” the same reason AO3 allows taboo fanfics on their site. no censorship means nothing is censored. you cannot censor something that you hate. it’s either nothing is censored or everything is censored. and this blog is against censorship.
fanfiction is a form of creative writing, which is also a form of art, and art can be taboo and disturbing. it can be about topics that are socially unacceptable, morally wrong and disgusting, and as long as no one in real life is being harmed, as long as it stays fantasies, it deserves the rights to exist, whether or not you like it.
there are things that bother me, rpf, fanfics that portray an adult character and a child character in a romantic/sexual relationship and anything that involves pregnancy or childbirth make me uncomfortable. what I do is that I choose not to engage with them, I avoid them by filtering out tags and blocking things, instead of screaming at strangers to “stop creating things that make me uncomfortable”. that’s not how internet works.
it’s YOUR job to curate YOUR OWN internet experience.
don’t make it other people’s responsibility to cater to YOUR personal comfort.
