Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
How to Avoid Choosing the Wrong People
1. Choose people who genuinely like you, and who want you to be yourself.
2. Choose people you don’t need to impress.
3. Choose people who treat you with respect.
4. Choose people who want you to do well, are happy when you’re happy, and who want to understand.

6. Choose people who’re dependable and safe.

So we know Prosperity Gospel is bad. But I’ve noticed people diving into a sort of opposite to Prosperity Gospel that feels just as harmful.

If I receive a blessing, I must reject it or seal it away out of humility.
Relying on emotional support from anyone except Christ is a sin and Idolatry.
Being passionate about anything is Idolatry.
Feeling like anything you’ve done/made turned out well is the same thing as the sin of Pride.
Always be punishing yourself, lest you think too highly of yourself.
God would NEVER speak to you or give you a word, you must have opened yourself up to demons.
Yes, we should be humble, be open to suffering when it comes, and discern words. But I can’t see this form of thinking as anything other than Spiritual Self-Harm that’s only turning people to despair and snuffing out their potential in serving Christ.

I don’t think anyone is stupid for being into politics. I don’t think everyone that talks about politics idolizes politics. I’m sorry if I came off that way. Politics right now to me is a ticking time bomb. I’m not ignorant. I know what’s happening in our world. I know the evils that are at play. Satan wants to divide and I feel as though he is using politics as one of the tools to do so.
Look, people can think I’m not a Christian if they want. And I know some do, because I chose not to be involved this year- at least at the national level. Maybe I’m not a Christian. I don’t know. I followed my gut and my gut told me to run. And since then, I’ve lost friends and I have been ridiculed for what I believed. And to some extend I’ve distanced myself from others because I am tired of being hurt.
Do you know where politics has personally left me? It’s left me in a family who doesn’t care about anything I have to say. It’s left me in a church where some of the people I love I just can’t be around because they only want to talk in anger. It’s left me in groups that want to kill liberals and post about wanting to hang Biden and Obama in the streets. It’s left me in the presence of people who call me horrible names and condemn me to hell because I happen to think masks work. Its left me being lectured because I’m not stocking up food and weapons. It’s left me in tears more times than not.
I’ve tried to have conversations. I have tried to be reasonable. To listen. To speak. To try to talk it out. And I’m not heard most often. I’ve researched. I’ve watched the videos. But I’m called ignorant, immature or blind. I’m told God is not working in my life. I have even been told that when Biden comes for us all it will be my fault. The blood of Christians will be on my hands.
So forgive me if I come off as harsh about this. Because more of then than not the people telling me the things mentioned above are Christians. They follow God. What they say makes me paranoid and afraid to the point that I can’t even function properly.
I’m sorry that I’m weak and can’t handle it. I didn’t mean to judge anyone. I didn’t mean to condemn anyone. But I’m not stupid. I’m not.

please do not base the assurance of your salvation and the legitimacy of your faith on broken sinners' opinions (yes, Christians still are broken in some way or other), but instead upon the infallible and perfect Word of God. the Church is not perfect; not yet. let us have mercy on one another just as Christ has shown mercy to us.
I happen to think masks work too, not as perfectly as CDC believes, because of how carelessly some people wear it. but I won't think my fellow Christian brothers & sisters who don't believe the same are evil or murderers for being COVID-19 superspreaders (that's about the extreme opposite of the logic of people you've encountered, it seems).
what a whole mess. we are all so stinkin' depraved. but praise be to Christ - He has not given up on us. He has saved us - from beginning to the end.
I agree - leave social media for a bit. focus on the Word and in fellowship with other believers. that is what God asks of us. social media is just an extra we honestly could do without (frankly, people can get so bite-y on it that some people should do without it).
