I have another idea about Amygdala, listen,
Okay so... You already know how internal name in game for Amygdala is 'evil god', whereas for One Reborn it's 'failed evil god', right? And like, notice how every Amygdala has strange stub on their back:
At first I assumed these might resemble some sort of torn wings, since Gardens of Eyes resemble them. Then I thought that maybe these are traces of torn arm (since you do have Amygdalan Arm as a weapon, and all Amygdalas miss second arm on (their) left) - but upon further examining their body, I've noticed that it doesn't seem like it. Not only losing exactly same-row arm is weird (they bothered to make variants of Amygdala models with tentacles and eyes and whatnot, I think they would make some 8-armed ones or ones missing different arm if lost arm was an implication, they don't spare effort on subtle lore?)... But also, the stumps are located more in the middle of the back, rather than to the side.
Basically, seems like Amygdalas are meant to have 7 arms, there is no sense of horrible asymmetry or something missing, it is just how they are!
If One Reborn is a failed attempt to make an Amygdala, there should be some resemblance, right? So, notice how if you compare two designs - what resembles a head of normal Amygdala is a huge lump of skulls. With Amygdala, head formed normally and is where lumps of skulls is. However, there is this 'individual' person, located above 'head', acting almost as a separate creature!
So, like... it seems like implication of Amygdalas' design is that this 'person' above normal 'head' is gone for them, with only stubs remaining where they once were or were supposed to be.
There is this item... Found in chests or dropped by Loran Silverbeasts, which very conveniently looks like a human(oid) child skeleton, but with lower body missing... And I specified that they are indeed called 落とし子 (otoshi-ko), because like. Remember how Patches calles Amygdala a bastard? That was not an insult or anything - even in Japanese script he uses word '落とし子' as well, so like. He said what he said, this word is to be taken directly.
Also interesting bit is that in beta, Ebrietas' internal name was 'bastard of the moon', with 落とし子 as well, and her design implies that she is a celestial child but grown-up, so like, in this context 'bastard' very likely implies """not legitimate""" Great One, so, a Great One born with mortals mixed in.
So... Yeah, I think Bastard of Loran might be where 'individual person above main head' part of Amygdalas went, however this part is still present in One Reborn. Whatever the reason to tear them off was.
