i can’t get over how instantly fond lady ruth was of simon and baz and how instantly fond they both were of her. the fact that both simon and baz feel so comfortable and at home with lady ruth, and that they now get to consider her family is everything to me.

i just, the way she instantly hugged simon for killing the mage, but then proceeded to like simon for being simon as he happily excepted her cake and care. and she how she reacted to his wings with so much awe and excitement!!

the way she and baz are basically bond over being Simon Snow Stans. when baz and simon disagree about smith-richards’ intentions baz instantly wants to visit lady ruth again because he knows she’ll agree with him. and she does!!

the way simon feels super comfortable around lady ruth Despite her being rich and posh (simon having previously expressed to feel out of his depth in posh environments). and also despite the fact that baz and lady ruth disagree with simon’s views on smith-richards, which could’ve easily made simon feel left out or stupid.

the way lady ruth watches them hold hands when they think they’re out of her sight, and she’s instantly happy for them, because they deserve each other. they deserve someone that will stand by them no matter what and she believes that they are that person for each other. and the fact that this will give simon and baz a family to visit that won’t disapprove of their relationship (something they’ve clearly not had before). like they’ll have a safe and happy way of spending the holidays with a family member without having to hide their relationship!!!

i know it’ll probably take simon time to get to terms with what it means that lady ruth is now Actually his family, but he gained something so beautiful through her, even before it was confirmed to either of them that they’re related. they’re not just family by blood, they Feel like family. simon feels at home with her and so does baz. i can totally imagine them going on frequent visits to just catch up with lady ruth and eat cake and sandwiches. i can so imagine celebrating them birthdays and holidays together.

lady ruth really took them both under her wing and i’m just so glad that they get to have this. that they get to have an adult in their lives who is nothing but loving and supportive. this honestly feels like one of the biggest wins from awtwb.

Summary: Simon and Baz have been through a lot. Losing magic and fighting vampires and fighting more vampires and, well, long story short, it was a bad time. Now, they’ve settled down, settled in, and are ready to take their next steps. (Long story short, they survived.)
