Firebender Layouts

Hello, my name's Fallen. I'm an avid roleplayer here on tumblr, and I got sick of sorting through oodles of layouts designed for hipster blogs or photographers. These layouts are designed with roleplayers in mind. If you have a dream layout in mind, describe it to me and it might turn up here! Why Fire Nation? Because I love it. No other reason. Feel free to use these for any fandom or even for OCs!

Reopening & Moving

I’ve decided to reopen, finally, but I’m moving to a new URL.  The themes here are all broken thanks to the tumblr updates, and my ask box is filled with rude demands for “(fandom) theme!” (no other text, not even a please or thank you) or questions like “can I use the Zuko theme if I don’t play Zuko????” which is answered in the FAQ but apparently they need a personal answer, etc.  And then people wonder why I went on hiatus for so long.

Anyway!  I’m moving to a new blog, where hopefully people will read the FAQ before demanding things of me, or maybe even ask politely instead of demanding like entitled little shits!  Ah, who am I kidding, that’ll never happen.  But, one way or another, I’ve made a new blog and I’m moving there.

http://roleplayerthemes.tumblr.com is the new URL, because apparently despite 12 posts on the subject and TWO sections of the FAQ devoted to it, people still message me to ask if they can use the themes even though they don’t RP firebenders.  Apparently “it’s just a name” is code for “no this is the explicit rules” and “the pictures are just examples” means “you’re not allowed to use different pictures”.  Sigh.

Anyway, I really don’t want to see any asks claiming roleplayerthemes is stealing from me, because it IS me.  Thanks.

Hello! im the owner of Jubilee themes, and I'm rather confused as to what they said I stole? I'm sorry but I've never previously heard of your themes and codes (they're very nice though!) but I'm unsure of what they claimed I stole? In any case I can assure you it's a misunderstanding of some sort, but if I did end up taking textures or something from you I'd gladly remove them from the imgur galleries!

As you can see, it's a coding nightmare, I did it all by hand and I'm rather proud (and protective) of it.  Someone said that you had taken the coding for it--like I said in my message, I didn't see that you had.  I was just saying that's what I'd been told.

I haven't actually combed through your galleries to see if any of the textures from my tester are on there or not, but honestly I can't be bothered to.  There's no 'live preview' for playing with textures and colours, which is the part I worked hardest of all on, if a texture or two wound up in your gallery I really don't care.

You could always tack up a link to mine in your resources page.  :P

Your themes are really nice, too.  Maybe when I'm up and moving again we can do some sort of collab thing.  I miiiiight be tempted to release the secret of my magical colour-changing textures if someone else wanted to start making more, but I have no more energy for graphics work--just the coding for me.

I’m sure not many of you know this, because I make it a personal point to not whine too much about my own situation any more.  Unfortunately it’s now come to the point where I think I need to let everyone know what’s going on.

After many battles with the evil landlord from hell, I am now being moved into the homeless centre in the next town over (my town doesn’t actually have one).  I am going to see about getting myself a mobile phone and a portable internet hotspot, but…it’s not looking promising.

Even before I move, replies may be more sparse than usual, because I have to try to pack up my house and belongings (somehow, despite major physical disabilities, though I do have some assistance thankfully) and sort out all the stuff that needs sorted out due to the whole ‘becoming homeless’ thing.  (Like finding a new home for my beloved pet.)

Finally, if anyone can find it in their heart and budget to help out, although it sure sucks to have to ask (bye bye pride), my paypal address is [email protected].

Thank you all for your friendship and support, every prayer, magick spell, meditation on positive energy, or whatever it is that you individually do are all appreciated very much.  I love you all and hopefully I will soon come out the other end of this.

Hey! I was wondering if you could do a layout for me.  I’m not too smart when it comes to layouts so I hope you can do something with what I’m saying. 

I’m a roleplayer for Jack from Red Dead Redemption, so I was wondering if you could do something western themed, with western style title text. Regular Text for the body part so it’s easier to read. Jack also likes reading so maybe somehow have book binding as links. I would like links for my page (obviously) about 4 should be good. I don’t want infinite scrolling. Maybe a ‘wanted’ poster for a picture of my character and for where I would want my information.

I hope this is specific enough (somewhat). I didn’t want to be TOO specific, givin’ you some wiggle room to do a few things that you’d like to do. c: If I need to be more specific on a few things I can easily clarify! I understand you have a person ahead of me but I’m not in a rush! 

All of that is graphics and changing the title font (which is already a standard option in most of my layouts).  You've not suggested anything that is actually 'layout' related, and could use any of my premades for this.

Hey there! I have a layout request here: Could you possibly make a layout where the sidebar looks like a Gameboy Advance SP (With customizable colors), where the screen is the description (With a scrollbar), and each of the buttons is actually a navigation link? The A button goes to the ask box, B goes to Submit, Start is a Home/’Refresh’ you can even put the theme credit button as the Select button, ans the D-Pad and L/R buttons would be a total of 6 custom links. Also, the page’s name pops up when you hover the button. The actual posts can be just one of the many post layouts you already have pre-coded. I just really like this idea, and I have absolutely zero skill in theme coding. So would you mind please making this? I’m sorry if this would be too complicated for you…

I hope i'm not bothering you, but i can't find this question in the faq. The sidebar for theme #19 is missing; is there anyway I can get it back?

Did you edit the code in any way or did it just wander off for no reason?  Also it may be a colour issue--if your background is black and your sidebar is black, it could be hard to see.  Let me know what the exact details of the issue are and I'll do my best.

I found you by way of one of my followers, and after boggling at the witchcraft that was their blog layout, they directed me to you. First, let me just say that you are fucking AMAZING. Said follower said that the tabs (which were a big part of what impressed me) would take 'some basic HTML to get to work'. As someone who uses HTML on a semi-regular basis, I have to say: If that's basic HTML, I must be a rank amateur. I love your work, and am glad I found you. I may or may not end up requesting

a layout at some point, or help with my own coding for this or other RP blogs (one bit of coding in particular is giving me grey hairs). And it is entirely likely that I will find a lovely bit of HTML wizardry on your blog (which I will be perusing in loving detail) to use as well. Which I will likely then ask for help with because holy hell these are outstanding and I imagine I will fuck up a few times. Consider yourself followed, loved, and casually worshiped for your skill with code.

Thank you for your kind words, darling.  It's been an adventure, I like teaching myself new things and pushing the boundaries of what I can and can't do with coding.  Sometimes it's even lead me to invent completely new approaches.  It's fun, and I do like to try.

I don’t know if this would be possible in any way but I figured I’d ask you since your themes are amazing! Can you make something that’s either a horizontal or a grid style? I was hoping that, when people first view my blog, they would only see posts with a picture and the caption. I know you can delete part of the coding so text posts don’t show up, but I want them to show up when people are searching through tags. I just don’t want text posts on the home page of the blog. Would anything like that be possible in anyway? I want to try to avoid having hundreds of pages, which is why I ask. But, if it’s not possible, I can just resort to pages. I thought I would at least ask because it seems like you can make some really unique theme ^_^ Thanks so much!

I'm really sorry, but that type of layout is one I specifically avoid doing because it's not conducive to roleplaying, which is ultimately the point of my thememaking.  If someone is roleplaying on a picture post and the caption is cut off, your blog would have just the same picture over and over with no context.  It's also insanely difficult to tell which post came 'first' once you're out of the first row of posts on a grid layout, which is really bad for storytelling.

So yeah, I do appreciate the ask, but they're not really the 'type' of layout I do.  I know there's a bunch out there, just have a look around at some of the other independent designers.

It may be just me but there appears to be a few bugs with Theme #021. Examples being the detail around the links for each blog on the blogroll can be seen through the first sidebar description when the tab is closed or the hover tabs have pieces sticking out and visible through the descriptions in the sidebar. Also the pins do not appear to have a transparent background anymore unlike the promo picture for the theme. It is a great theme but these bugs irritate me and I do not know how to fix it.

Tumblr updates broke a lot of the layouts.  I think I'm going to update and re-release all of them eventually.  Thank you for your vigilance, I'm sorry I didn't actually sort them out anything approaching soon.

I know you make primarily Tumblr layouts, but i'm just curious, would you be able to design layouts for other websites? For example, I was thinking of some awesome cult ideas on Vampirefreaks, but i'm no good at layouts.

Ask me again in six months, right now the answer has to be no due to personal circumstances, but I'm prepared to re-evaluate that later instead of just ZOMG NO NOT EVAR.

I wasn't there for a while actually, but if you're still around anon, I'm somewhat better and ready to start working on layouts again.  I think I may overhaul the entire...everything...before I actually start doing anything, though.  Anyway, thanks for your concern darling.

Hello, I really like the second layout you have on the Browse themes page. The "A new roleplayer specific tumblr layout!" one. I'm not sure what number it is, I don't think it says? Anywho, I was wondering if you would be able to tell me how to get rid of the Tab Two? I only nee the other ones and that one is kind of just sitting there.. so.. I'd like if I could get rid of it? If not, I understand. Thank you!

((Hello! I love your work, and I'd like to use one of your themes. the only issue, though, is that I... don't want the scarves, and I am unfamiliar with how to deal with them. What is the easiest way to remove them, or will they simply not show up if I don't upload any images for them?))

They won't show if you don't want them, and most of them also even have a ticky box to uncheck to turn them off entirely.

(OOC) Hello! I have a quick question relating to the Firebender Layout #21. The second tab on the sidebar has the cross-hairs when the blogroll option is on; is it possible to get rid of that? I only want to do this because it does not seem to fit the character for the RP for which I’m using the theme. If you cannot remove it/do not want it removed, it’s alright.

If you're still around and still want that, just let me know and I'll do it for you.  I had to take an extended hiatus for personal reasons but I'm tentatively sorta-back.
