Gonna rant about unsolicited pet food advice that I see on the internet, particularly on TikTok. I’m not going to be nice.

Meow Mix and Friskies are perfectly fucking fine to feed your cats. If that is what is in your budget, then that is what you feed them. They meet all nutritional requirements. If it is AAFCO-approved, it will be nutritionally significant enough to meet your pet’s requirements. If it isn’t, don’t fucking feed them it. It is unregulated and you, frankly, have no goddamn clue what is in it.

Fed. Is. Best.

If you’re someone who is going to open their mouth and tell someone to feed their cats x,y,z brand because you’ve heard it is better for them, sit down and shut up. Unless you are going to buy that food for that person’s cat, fuck right off.

I can guarantee you that there are at least 5 other people who have told that person the same thing. I can also tell you that a lot of people who get told this also end up feeling like shit because of said unsolicited advice. So stop talking. Take your fingers away from that keyboard.

And for anyone who might come in here and say “if you can’t afford it don’t get a pet”, you can take your privileged ass opinion and get the hell out, too. Lower income people deserve to have animal companions, too. There are tons of reduced cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics for people to use so don’t come in here about that either.

Unless someone specifically asks you, don’t. Comment something nice to boost their post so they can monetize their cute fucking cat and get whatever it is they need to get paid, paid.

Starting a claim for family that just lost their parent. The kids are all in their 60s. (I work in life insurance)

This makes me feel so sad and fucking bitter. I was 32 when my mom died.

Thirty fucking two.

These people got 30+ more years than I did.

And yeah I’m a grown adult and all that so being like “I’m an orphan” feels fucking weird

But my parents are both gone. My uncle who was like my father died a few months after my mom.

There’s so much I can’t do with her now, things I can’t fix, things I’ll never be able to say.

Been almost a year since she died and the closer we get to the date the worse I feel. I’m so angry and tired and sad.
