Finally realising that comparing myself to others will get me nowhere (better late than never). Yesterday found out my closest friend on my nursing course has siblings and family membes who are registered nurses, I’d always wondered how it came so naturally to her. This has happened a few times, I get envious of how at ease they are and then find out nursing runs in their families, or that they just have loads of previous experience.

Everyone has different experiences, knowledge, ages, rate of development and so on. Instead of spending my time being envious of someone else, I should have spent that time pushing myself further.

Have done a lot of reflecting after my 10 weeks placement. Realising I should explain how I work/tick/function and not just assume my mentors will understand me, and know how I learn.

Next placement I need to be on the ball! Not eyeing up the other student nurse.

You empty your pockets at the end of shift and find 2 unused lancettes, a packet of crackers, a decent sized stack of alcohol preps and a pen that doesn’t belong to you.
