The Salt City Circuit is an alternative proposal that I am pitching to the ongoing Interstate 81 debate. The two current options before the public are to tear down the interstate completely and replace it with a boulevard OR to rebuild it with a different look in its current footprint. The current location of the interstate is seen by some city officials, university staff and other Syracusans as a physical barrier between Syracuse University campus and downtown Syracuse.
Proposition for the I-81 CHALLENGE in Syracuse, NY. This proposal would KEEP the viaduct, create a central CITY LOOP for traffic flow and CREATE a beautiful wide boulevard to promote integration between Syracuse University and downtown.

The abandoned manufacturing complex located on the east side of downtown Syracuse, NY is mainly known as being the home of Brennan Motor Manufacturing Company which thrived for decades in the 20th century until its closure in 1972. Many of the buildings on the site date back to the 19th century but face a possible demolition in the coming months due to neglect and disrepair.
The City of Syracuse marked the site as "historically significant" in 2007, blocking the current owner from razing any of the buildings. Since then the buildings have fallen even deeper into disrepair and may have to be torn down regardless.
Abandoned 19th Century buildings in Syracuse, NY were once home to the thriving Brennan Motor Complex, the business succeeded and expanded for decades until the United States began experiencing a wave of factory closures due to cheaper competition on the global market in the later half of the 20th century.
