A sharp flinch followed the noise, breaking the concentration. Her gaze flew through the room, and upon spotting the glaringly obvious red pinstripe suit grabbed for the kukri perched against the wall; she didnât take kindly to being distracted, especially during frustrating rounds like that particular one.
And what a thing to tear her away from the scope; a noisy RED Spy. After all the years fighting in the war, it was nothing short of an instinct to strike the masked frenchman down, but it was a conscious decision to do so in a notably more brutal way than one might deem necessary.
âHow about switchinâ ta swiss cheese for a while? It seems to fit ya better.âher tone burnt to a cold sneer as she fought to put her breathing back to a normal pace, wiping her yellow-tinted aviators clean of little red specks that suddenly littered them. Really, that had very nearly taken a turn from ugly to grisly.
She gave one last disdainful gander at her handiwork, wondering briefly if she could snatch a cigarette off the dead man. Shrugging the thought off, she turned back to the window.
Though, a twinge in her gut kept her from just sitting down and resuming her job. No, she had just killed the spook, hadnât she? Looking back at the bloody mess slowly getting picked back up by respawn she made note of the cloak and dagger on his wrist; Everything checks out, the snakeâs dead.
Then why canât she get rid of that glaring sensation of being watched?
After a few moments of consideration, she put a pin on the thought and switched her favorite machete for her trusty rifle, settling back down into what she did best.
Good move, he observed to himself as she sliced through his RED and more contemporary counterpart. With a gargling sound coming from his throat and blood bubbling out of it, it was unlikely that the poor man would rise from the machete strike; satisfied, Jesse watched as he quickly gave his last breath, a hint of tranquil pride glistening in his dark eyes.Â
His eyes drifted back to the young woman, taking in the high silhouette, the disdainful glance at the dead body - the specks of blood on her blue uniform. She was not the first woman he had ever seen on a battlefield, but he had to admit, the flame of sheer rage he had briefly caught in her eyes was something new.Â
Invisible still, he slowly shook his head - she was on edge, yet was letting her guard down. If anything outside happened to distract her, her back would once more be offered to the next RED Spy that would venture in her direction.Â
âI thought sharpshooters were supposed to move spots once theyâve been detected.â The original Spy said, his tone monotonous and detached, hollow as if coming from an otherworldly dimension (which wasnât entirely inaccurate), yet very present and audible now to the human ear. At the same time, he focused, anchoring his feet in a ground he couldnât quite feel anymore; his body slowly becoming visible, albeit glowing a mysterious green and lifeless light. There he was again: the Spy that started it all, clad in his blue zhiduo, and of course, masked.Â
âAt least it used to be the ways of our sharpshooter. Considering how this RED gentleman wouldhave stabbed you if it hadnât been for my intervention, I would suggest you come up with a plan before he comes back, wouldnât you agree?â He added, hands crossed behind his back.
