i am at a loss for words about what's happening in my city. someone was murdered just blocks from where my best friend lives, and then another right outside a donut shop i went to as a kid. it's not just on my phone, on the news, on tv, it's on the streets i grew up on.

and i'm tired. i'm so, so goddamn tired. i am 17 years old, for fuck's sake. i shouldn't feel this burnt out, stretched thin, worn down. but you know what? liam ramos is 5. i spent the first four years of school in the columbia heights school district. i wonder if he had mrs. grimm for kindergarten, too.

it's nearly every day these past few weeks that i feel like i have no energy left in me to keep fighting. that i can do nothing but shut down, rest, recharge, take care of myself like everyone has always preached. but oh, what a luxury it is to have that choice.

what a luxury to opt out. what a sparkling privilege to even momentarily consider a break, when my girlfriend's father hasn't even been to work in two weeks. when my friend who up until recently felt so safe where he lives as to keep his front door unlocked, now keeps it bolted and latched.

look. i get it. times are tough for everyone right now, and we all need to be looking out for ourselves. all i'm saying is that when so many in our community can't fight for themselves right now, we have no choice but to be their strength. even when it's exhausting. please keep fighting.

as a high school student who lives on the outskirts of minneapolis here's what my past few days have been like

- found out about renée good during my free period as soon as i opened instagram a couple hours after it happened

- saw that a vigil was being held for her and called a friend to take me

- called another friend who lives nearby to make sure they and their family are safe

- went to the vigil, so many people showed up that i genuinely don't even know how big the crowd was, i walked for a while and i couldn't see the end of it. there are plenty of photos of it from the helicopters and drones that were circling us the entire time though

- saw on instagram the morning after that a fucking pig stomped on a candle at her memorial

- got sent a video of several ice vehicles swarming an area right down the street from me in the middle of my school day, just after my friends and i got out of that area on our lunch break

- begged the school admin to do an announcement to warn students of the local presence, and as i was leaving the office multiple other people were talking to secretaries about the exact same area being swarmed

- got called into work at my job that schedules me maybe three times a month lately because i sent a text to the group chat which resulted in 3+ coworkers calling out and hiding at home

- got called in again today for the same reason

- my (white) coworker and her wife were stalked by ice last night and only got away with a police escort

- ice was circling my work and other businesses/residences nearby today, but disappeared once the local police started patrolling the area

i am so entirely livid with this shit. they know minneapolis isn't the place to fuck with after what that scumbag did to george floyd. they're scared of us and they better fucking be. these terrorists need to get the fuck out of my city.

it is infuriating having a family member who uses ai and doesn't even have the decency to be ashamed of it.

you may think i was too harsh here, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

my dad died at the beginning of the year and this woman uploaded as many love letters and birthday cards and sweet text messages from him to the cursed thing as she could, asking it to write her a letter from him. she told me about this and i told her i didn't want to hear it. she insisted. i declined again. she read part of it to me anyway as we were walking together, a section written about me and my sibling. i actually started to tear up hearing it, which turned to anger immediately. i wasn't hearing from my dead father. sure, he had said some of these things, but these were not his words.

the worst part of it is that he had trauma regarding people putting words in his mouth and losing his sense of agency. it was such a big deal to him if anyone misunderstood or incorrectly paraphrased something he said. he couldn't stand it, and she knew this. it led to countless fights between them, but now that he's gone and can't even defend himself, she's doing it anyway.

i'm just so fucking sick of this.

she did apologise for reading it to me despite my declining and agreed not to talk to me about her ai usage going forward. and you know, i'd heavily prefer if she just didn't use it period, but i'm glad that she's agreeing to leave me out of it

i've had chronic abdominal pain since the beginning of april last year.

i've had er visits, x rays, ultrasounds, pelvic exams, a cat scan, blood work, GI testing, given a stool sample, tried laxatives for almost a year, gone back on birth control, worked on pelvic floor strength, tried heat packs, hot baths, OTC pain meds, and no results.

i have an exploratory laparoscopy in november to check for endometriosis, the surgery i've been praying for since a few months into this.

i sincerely hope that i get a diagnosis from this, but even if i don't, i'd be glad to at least finally rule endometriosis out. i am so ready for this pain to stop.

i keep telling my doctors to do every test, run every possible diagnostic; i'm privileged enough to have insurance that will pay for it all, so i don't care how many appointments it takes. i just need to figure this out. i need an answer. i need treatment.
