and whatever you do, don’t think about how five must’ve had to let the handler treat him when he was fresh out of the apocalypse desperate for human contact and the safety of his siblings

sure, he bit back a little when we see them interact in s1e5 and 6, with his usual snark and defensiveness, but even then, he let a lot of her weird comments and condescending actions slide by because she was his employer again. he was doing what he could to stop the apocalypse and keep his siblings alive.

but even then, he had already figured out the equation to escape. she wasn’t his last option, so he had just a little bit of wiggle room to stand up to her.

what about when he had absolutely no other options if he wanted to have a warm bed to sleep at night? or food in his much too-shrunken stomach?

can you imagine how much worse she must’ve been when she knew that he knew he had nowhere else to turn to if he wanted his siblings back?

and that no matter what she said or did to this poor, desperate, unsocialized man, he wouldn’t have any other option but to let her?

because obviously five hates being young again, it makes him look weaker and is a constant reminder of the biggest fuck up of his life. but what if he looks at his reflection in the mirror sometimes and just wonders if there was ever any room for him to just be a stupid thirteen year old that didn’t have world-ending consequences

time botched body aside, do you think five ever misses when he was allowed to be a twenty-something naive kid. do you think every time his siblings says something stupid he wonders about how long ago he would’ve died if he had had the privilege (and, simultaneously, the curse) to be that naive.

do you think five ever wishes he was actually a kid again. so he could redo everything he fucked up the first time. do you think five ever wishes he could hide behind his kid body, like he’s not a cynical old man with too much blood on his hands to ever feel clean again

or maybe misses nothing at all, considering he only got to be naive once in his life, and that naivety is exactly what put him in this mess in the first place

tbh i think five would really love being unsuccessful in life. he wouldn't want to work at the CIA at all.

is he the kind of guy who needs to be busy at all times? yes, definitely, but i think he would go about it by picking up a bunch of random hobbies he excuses as "good for survival" when someone tells him he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would like doing whatever thing it is.

however, he would be much happier getting to sit back and watch his siblings, his nieces and nephews, his family succeed as he knows he succeeded in keeping them alive and away from the apocalypse.

he already did what he got in his head as his job, he can relax now. he can retire now. he lived a full life and now with his young body he's going to be forced to live another one. it's his family's turn to be happy now.
