How Rindo’s Route Should Have Ended - by Fixitybunny
Hi Cafe Enchante fans! I played Rindo’s route and I did not like the ending… so I wrote a different ending!
I also drew fanart for it! So if you keep scrolling you will be able to see that!
This fanfic begins right after Mikado tells Rindo and Kotone about the truth of what happened to Shizuku while they climb the staircase.
When we reached the rooftop, there stood Mikado and Shizuku. “Now do you understand why I am doing this? To avenge Shizuku. She didn’t deserve this fate. — I will make them pay for what they’ve done.” Exclaimed Mikado. “I understand how you feel, I want her back as much as you do, but this is not the way Mikado, and you know it” said Rindo. “What other choice do I have?” Pleaded Mikado.
Mikado took a look at Rindo “I see the Metaplasia worked — I’m so glad you survived and kept your sanity as well… I incorporated some of Shizuku’s blood in hopes that it would dim the effects. I’m so relieved, truly. The reason you were able to keep your sanity is because your hope to survive was stronger than your fear of death”. His words struck me as I peeked over at Rindo. “Hope kept him sane…” I thought to myself.
”Mikado… maybe there’s another way for you to get Shizuku back?” I interjected as Mikado directed his attention towards me. “How do you mean?” He inquired. “If hope saved Rindo.. maybe it can save Shizuku too?” “Impossible… it’s only if she had hope DURING the transformation. This is the only way… Shizuku must feed until she is satisfied.” “Do you really know that for sure? Has anyone ever tried? Shizuku may NEVER be satisfied and you’re sacrificing so many lives… It couldn’t hurt to try?”. Mikado stared back at Shizuku and back at me. “You may be right about that… as a scientist, I must try everything… and I would do ANYTHING for Shizuku”. Mikado approached Shizuku meekly with a slight melancholy in his expression. “Shizuku… my darling…. Can you hear me in there? Do you understand me?” “………A……Aki….Akira…”. Shizuku muttered as Mikado gasped. “Yes my love… it’s me… Akira. And that’s your brother Kauru over there. He was also turned into a non-human with Metaplasia… but he kept sane… with hope and determination to survive. I believe… there’s a way you can too. I know the past 7 years have been so terrifying and difficult… But if Rindo can keep his sanity… maybe you can too.” He stared at Shizuku — tears in his eyes. “………..A……….Aki..ra….lo…ve…….Aki..ra”. Shizuku mumbled. Mikado gasped and tears spilled down his face. Mikado moved closer to Shizuku — arms reaching out to her. “Stop!! Mikado!! You’ll be hexed!!” Cried Rindo. Mikado ignored his cries and embraced Shizuku. “A….AAAAH!!!!” Mikado cried in agony yet he clung tighter to Shizuku as his tears kept falling. “I….ah! Do..n’t…care….gyah…how much… this… h..urts… I just want to… be… gah… close…to you….again….AHHHH!!!” I couldn’t hold back my tears and all I could do was watch. “D..do…you…re…member..gah!…ah!…this feeling….Shizuku…?” Mikado whispered. “Please…co..me…back……to me….my love….” Mikado could no longer stand the pain and collapsed onto the ground.
Rindo and I gasped at the sight ready to run to his side… but just then… Shizuku leaned down… and embraced the unconscious Mikado — enveloping him completely. “Aki…ra….. want…. L..ive….wi..th… Aki..ra…” A light shone from Shizuku’s body… a blinding light. I had to shut my eyes. When the light finally dimmed… Shizuku was no longer embracing Mikado… a young woman with white ears and a fluffy tail was in her place. All of the reddish black shadows were nowhere in sight… and many men and women in GPM attire appeared out of nowhere. “…..Wait…could it be..?” Gasped Rindo. He ran to the woman’s side. “Shizuku!!” The woman turned to face Rindo. “Kauru..” Still embracing Mikado she turned her attention back to him, and stroked his sleeping face. “Oh Akira… I’m so sorry… please please wake up…”
Canus, Ignis, Il and Msyr appeared. Everyone stared at the embracing couple in silence.
”Please… wake up my love.”
”….Shi…zu…….ku…?” Mikado grumbled groggily as he slowly opened his eyes. “Yes… yes it’s me my love…. I’m right here..” Shizuku cried as she cradled his head and stroked his face.
Misyr leaned in to whisper something to me “So yeah I’m going to need a rundown on what just happened”. I quickly wiped my own tears and gave Misyr a rundown of everything as the other Enchante regulars listened in. “Wow… can’t believe that actually worked” said Ignis. “So what’s with all these GPM members up here?” Asked Misyr. “I… I’m not sure… they just appeared out of nowhere after Shizuku transformed back into a human — well, a stable non-human.” Canus gasped “…could it be?” “I think so… it sure is a miracle though… a true phenomenon” Misyr marvelled. “What? What is it?” I asked. “It appears these are the people that non-human Shizuku gobbled up… unscathed as well…” said Canus. My jaw dropped.
Msyr walked over to a woman in GPM attire. ”Excuse me miss. Do you remember anything previous to this moment right now?” Misyr asked. “Not a thing.” she exclaimed while looking around groggily and scratching her head. “Perfect, perfect.” Msyr replied. “What do you mean?” The woman asked. “Oh, nothing.” Said Msyr.
Misyr returned to our group. “Ok, looks like we may be able to fix this mess.” Misyr waved his hands and before I knew it, we had all transported to Enchante — including Shizuku and Mikado.
“What did you do Msyr?” I asked. “Let’s just say, I put everything back in it’s rightful place.” I tilted my head at him as he chuckled.
We all returned our attention back to Shizuku and Mikado. “I can’t believe Shizuku really turned back into a human…well… a stable non-human I suppose”.
Rindo leaned in close to me “thank you”. “Huh? Wait.. for what?” I asked. “I never thought I would get my sister back, and I certainly didn’t think I would have survived that hex… it’s all thanks to you Kotone.” I blushed “Oh I didn’t really do anything..” “But you did, none of us would be here right now without you.” Rindo uttered to me. Shizuku stared at me with a soft yet sincere gaze “He’s right… thank you.. thank you so much Awaki.”
”Soooo… what now? Do Mikado and Shizuku have to like…hide from the law now?” Said Ignis. Misyr interjected “Well, no. No one remembers anything that happened from the great Shizuku massacre — thanks to Shizuku’s transformation and a little bit of my magic sprinkled in. But I do assume the Rindo siblings cannot or do not want to assume their positions at the GPM due to their being non-human now. Mikado may not want to return either due to everything he encountered and experienced there.” Everyone turned their eyes towards Shizuku and Mikado. “Eh heh heh… I suppose not.” Mikado chuckled half-heartedly. “Well, let’s worry about that tomorrow, tonight, we celebrate!” I exclaimed. And so we celebrated the return of Shizuku as Mikado and Rindo caught up with her.
In the end, Rindo, Mikado, and Shizuku opted not to return to the GPM. Mikado exposed his department for their inhumane practices — the department was disbanded and all members were arrested. Rindo decided to move in with me and help run the cafe. As for Shizuku and Mikado… well, they decided to buy a house near Enchante, so they could visit everyday. Mikado had saved up enough money to have the two of them set for the rest of their lives. And we had a beautiful little marriage ceremony for them at the cafe.

I wrote this because I quickly became a big Mikado x Shizuku supporter when they revealed the truth about everything — how tragic and romantic! How come only MC gets a happy ending? I want them to get a happy ending as well!
