Part 1 & 2 are on my masterlist
Mingi was quite a simple man.
He loved his job, loved his friends, adored Yunho, and now he had another person to devote himself to.
If only said person would cooperate.
"I said, no!"
"But Y/N! Kitty, come on!"
"Do not!" You pointed a finger at him. "Approach me with that brush!"
The gentle giant stared at the worn out blue hairbrush in his hand. Why would she be so tough about this? He loved getting his hair brushed, but only if Yunho did it.
Maybe that was the thing. It kind of made him sad.
"Would you let Yunho brush it? It's really tangled."
The solemn expression on his face stopped you from yelling. A sudden sense of shame overcame you, realization hitting almost immediately afterwards.
"Mingi... I don't care who has it. I don't want that death trap anywhere near my hair, or my ears!"
He dropped onto the couch. "Then do it yourself!"
"No!"
With a final shout, you stormed into the bathroom and locked the door.
He followed after you, glancing at the clock over the TV. Yunho wouldn't be here for another 3 hours, probably more if he stopped by the shelter. If this was any incline about the rest of the day, he was doomed.
Leaning his back on the door, he knocked gently.
"Is there a reason you're refusing to let me pamper you?"
His question was met with silence.
Think, Mingi. He could almost hear his best friend's voice urging him to use his head once in a while.
"Did... Did somebody hurt you? Is that it?"
Silence, again.
He slid down to the floor, twirling the brush around in his hands.
"I promise you, Kitty. I won't ever do that. I may be clumsy, and I may cut myself on sharp things from time to time. I may bump my head on the door seal, and yes, I do burn my fingers on the stove. And I -"
A laugh interrupted his monologue.
It was tiny, barely audible, but Mingi had a keen sense of hearing.
"Is that funny? Bet you'd like to laugh in my face."
Just as he was certain he'd made progress, there it was again. No response.
He sighed. "But you'd have to come out to do that."
Maybe he should let her deal with it for a while? Nobody liked being bothered while clearly emotional. Should he call Yunho? Oh, he'd just nag -
Suddenly, the door flung open, and Mingi fell onto his back. Y/N leaned over him, head tilted to the side. She was the most adorable thing Mingi had ever seen in his life. It kind of mesmerized him.
"Why are you on the floor?"
"I..."
"What? Cat got your tongue?"
At that, he had to burst into laughter. Her little giggles joined his, and he was up on his feet.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. I shouldn't have pushed."
Y/N crossed her arms, the smile on her face slowly fading away.
"It's okay. I just... My ears are really sensitive, and that brush you have will definitely hurt. My hair..."
Her fingers ran through her tangled strands.
"It's the one thing I've been trying to keep as healthy and clean as possible. The people I lived with didn't really care about my appearance, as long as I kept quiet and stayed obedient."
Mingi nodded, looking over her shoulder. He gently pushed her out of the way. The blue brush he and Yunho used found itself in the trash.
"We can buy a new one. We can buy ten, if that's what it takes to make you comfortable."
The cat smiled, going over to Mingi in the crammed bathroom. A hand was gently placed on his cheek, and Mingi felt his heat skip a beat.
"Thank you."
Her small palm stayed for a second longer, caressing the apple of his cheek.
"But... How are we going to brush it now? I'm all for recycling, but don't you dare pick it up from that gross trash can."
.
.
.
"Okay, I'm home, and I have the five brushes you asked for. May I know what this is about? The two of us barely have any hair?"
Yunho was exhausted. From pushing his body for the whole day, making sure everybody was prepared for the dance recital next week, to trying to find a good shelter which would offer him the information he needed. Then, going around town and searching for different hair brushes. One for detangling, another for fur, then another one for... He forgot, honestly.
"Y/N has a lot, though. We need to learn how to take care of it. Isn't that right, Kitty?"
"Mingi tried to assassinate me today."
Yunho's eyes almost bulged out of his head.
"He what?"
"I so did not!"
The men yelled at the same time. You just stayed hunched over the counter, casually snacking on a beef stick.
The dancer was next to you in a blink. He looked at Mingi, now red in the face, and only shook his head.
"Tell me, what did the big bad man do?"
"He almost pulled all of my hair out!"
"Mingi!"
The blonde giant was in disbelief. His mouth wide open, hands in the air, ready to defend himself. Yunho made a gesture for him to stay quiet.
Turning to you, he took a stand of your hair and twirled it with his fingers.
"You poor thing. We'll make him pay."
He thought things were going alright, and you'd keep the joke up. He didn't expect you to freeze. Mingi knew he had to step in.
"Y/N doesn't really want us to touch her hair, Yun."
"Oh? Oh! I'm so sorry. That was incredibly rude of me. Here, I'll give you space."
"Wait!"
Both of them stood still, watching as you mulled something over in your head. You grabbed the bag containing the brushes, selecting one and handing it over to Mingi.
"This one will probably do. I'll go take a shower, and you can help me manage it. Yunho can do it tomorrow morning."
"Are you sure?" Mingi was hesitant.
"I am. If anyone can do it and not make it painful, I trust it will be you two."
She turned to Yunho, reaching over and lacing her pinky finger with his.
"You don't mind if Mingi goes first? He has to make up for his wrongdoings from today."
"Oh my God!"
"Shush!" You made eye contact with him, tilting your head towards a confused and worried looking Yunho.
"I... Yeah. He can do it before he goes to work."
You smiled, letting go of his pinky and making your way to his room to rummage for some clothes. His voice stopped you in your tracks.
"I went to a shelter today."
You turned around. "Oh? And, um... What did they say?"
He leaned his hip on the counter, motioning for Mingi to sit on one of the stools.
"Well... You're not registered with anyone, it makes it easier to... Adopt you. In order for you to live here, we need to make it official. That also means you'd have to do the necessary medical checks, and the both of us would have an interview. The thing is..."
Yunho looked conflicted, and it sent a nervous buzz in the air.
"Mingi and I are roommates, in the eye of the law. We're not family, nor are we married."
"We can change that." Mingi suggested, a smile spreading on his face.
"For the millionth time, no. Back to my point. Only one of us can legally be your..."
"Owner." You finished for him.
"So, what's the problem then?" Mingi asked.
"That person would be responsible for your well being. Every doctor's appointment, every legal thing you have to go through, would all have to be done with the, the um..."
"The owner. Is that a bad word?" You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
Yunho sighed. "No, I just don't like to hear it. You're a person, first of all, and you shouldn't be classified as a... Oh God." He stopped.
"A pet." You finished for him.
"Yeah... "
"Look, I know the technical terms may bother you, but at the end of the day, it's what's best for me. If I have a legitimate owner, I'll be more protected than you could ever imagine. Besides, it gives me comfort to know I belong somewhere. Not just to someone, but a home as well."
"I think Yunho should do it."
Both of you turned to Mingi, who looked... Happy.
"He is the more responsible one out of the two of us. I wouldn't know what to do in case of an emergency. I'd probably be the emergency at the end of the day."
"Are you sure, Min?" Yunho asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Positive. Besides, it's way more fun to be the cool one. You'll be the strict one."
"Good Lord. Okay, whatever. Is that okay with you, Kitty?" He turned to you, face expectant.
"I'm okay with that. Now, I'll be on my way."
Y/N resumed her way to the bedroom, stopping abruptly and spinning around.
"And by the way Mingi, you were so not cool screaming your head off when I jumped from behind the couch."
"Hey! That's not fair! You scared me!"
Yunho glanced between the two of them, a grin spreading on his face.

Summary: Jung Wooyoung and you were never really anything. Your best friends tried, and failed to set you up. So, how come you're now living in their house, taking care of their baby, all the while barely standing each other?
Hello pretty people! I recently watched this movie for the first time, and I truly loved it. I got to writing as soon as it finished, and I hope you enjoy the first part. Many things will be similar, if not the same, as in the movie, with my own twists from time to time. It will probably be a two to three part imagine, so enjoy the first part for now! I'll be back with the second soon enough.
Let me know if you want to see more movie based imagines with our favourite Ateez men starring in them.

Life as you know it had always been like this - planned, prepared, thought through.
Your catering business was flourishing as days ran by, your best friend Arin was to marry in two months time, and you finally got over your ex-boyfriend.
Currently, you're getting ready for your first date in over a year. Which should have started about an hour ago, but the man your friend chose was late. Said man being none other than Jung Wooyoung, the best friend of Arin's fiance Jimin.
You were all dolled up, heels higher than usual, dress too tight to breathe, and your hair was down as opposed to the usual ponytail you wear every day. Should you call him? Maybe his tire popped along the way?
Just as you were about to dial, there was a knock on your door.
"About damn time."
Shaking out your curls, you checked your reflection one more time before opening the door.
"Hi there!" You smile dimmed a bit. The dude was dressed in a baseball jersey, topped up with a matching hat.
"Hello. Sorry I was late. You ready?"
Wow.
You spent a lot of time in the presence of Wooyoung, enough to know what a walking red flag he was. You also trusted Arin and Jimin, but maybe you shouldn't have.
"Okay, so... Let's go then. Where did you park?"
With a pep in you step to lighten the mood, you made your way outside and looked around. Strangely, a motorcycle was parked next to your car. Surely he wasn't...
"This is it." He gestured at the black vehicle.
"No. No way. I can't even sit on that in this dress. There's no way."
Wooyoung shrugged, seemingly not caring about your predicament.
"Aha! We can take my car. Its no big deal. Here, my Smart is perfect."
He looked at you shiny red car, a grimace taking over his face. Seeing how he had no choice, he joined you in the passanger seat. Settling in, you turned to him.
"Okay, just tell me where to drive."
"Oh, well.. I didn't make any reservations. You know, we can just wing it."
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, his phone blasts with the most outrageous ringtone ever.
"You can get that." You pointed at the device.
"Nah, it's probably not important."
It rang a second time after the first cut off. You motioned with your hand for him to pick up. His voice got down to a whisper, but you could still hear him, due to being shoulder to shoulder in your tiny car.
"Hey babe. No, no, how could I forget. Oh, sweet. Hey, listen, I'll be there in... Well of course I like you in red. Yeah, soon. Okay. Bye-bye."
You've got to be kidding.
"Listen, Jung. Let's not do this. It's okay, really. We tried, but it didn't work out. You clearly have more pressing obligations to tend to."
"Hey, no, it's fine. This was just a... friend. Yeah, she's sick."
It was almost pitiful, watching how he scrambled for words.
You scoffed. "Sick? That was obviously a booty call."
Wooyoung gasped. "It so was not! She's really sick, and might need my help."
"Yeah, and how are you going to help her? By sticking your penis in her?"
"How rude of you to assume such things! God, what was Jimin thinking setting this up?"
Cursing your best friend in your head, you nodded. "Arin must have been out of her mind."
"You know, it probably wouldn't have worked out. Sure, we'd have sex and all of that, but I don't know about the long run."
You gasped. "Who's the one making assumptions now? Bold of you to think I'd put out on the first date."
He shrugged. "Didn't seem like the type anyway."
"Okay, that's it. Out of my car, now."
Both of you scrambled out of your Smart, Wooyoung making his way over to his bike. The asshole didn't even glance back at you.
"Hope your dick has healing powers, otherwise your little friend is screwed!"
"Don't worry. Many call me a miracle worker!"
Two days later
"You have a lot of making up to do."
"I'm sorry! We really thought you might hit it off!"
Arin's big eyes seemed apologetic as the two of you browsed the shoe section at the bridal shop. She still couldn't settle on the perfect wedding heels.
"I just can't think of one good reason why Jimin and you would put me through this, but okay."
She sighed, picking up a stiletto way higher than she would usually go for.
"Wooyoung is..."
"Pompous, full of himself, too confident for his own good, a menace, a pain. Do you need me to go on?"
"I was going to say particular. Look, we made a mistake, you tried, we can now move on. I am sorry, and that's why you can pick which entree we're having at the wedding."
Leaving the hat full of feathers you were judging, you turned to look at Arin. Her smile could probably light up a whole room, and you understood why Jimin fell for her as hard as he did.
"You're giving me that kind of power?"
"Yes, I am. Also, we really can't choose, and Jimin is insistent on mini hot dogs."
She grabbed you by the arms, turning serious.
"Please, save me from that disaster because I'm really close to saying yes and just getting on with it."
You mimicked her stance, arms now wrapped around her.
In the days leading up to the wedding you saw more of Wooyoung than you wanted to, but it was inevitable. He was Jimin's best man, while you were the maid of honor. Thankfully, you didn't have any shared responsibilities, so you didn't have to do anything together.
The rehearsal dinner took the cake, with him interrupting your heartfelt speech by making out with the waitress in the corner. It earned him a standing ovation, like it was the most comical and cool thing a man could do.
The wedding wasn't any different. The exhaustion of planning the whole thing, all the while being in charge of the entree left you more irritable than ever.
"Okay, let's get the maid of honor and the best man next to the happy couple! You can stand behind her Wooyoung."
Every time the camera clicked, he would pinch your waist, making your face scrunch up.
"I've had it! Stop it, Jung! I want a good photo!"
"Okay, okay! I won't do it anymore, promise."
Again, there was a pinch just as the flash went off.
"That's it!"
The bouquet you carried was soon destroyed as you banged it over his head, and the cameraman just went along with it. Arin and Jimin have a photo of said event right at the end of their lovely wedding album.
Arin's pregnancy wasn't a surprise, you knew how keen she was on starting a family right away. Her round belly was the star of every event, her baby girl keeping her up every night with her kicks.
"Say hi to Minnie everybody! Baby, look! All of your favorite people are here. Your mommy, your daddy, and oh!"
Jimin pointed the camera at you.
"Here's your godmother Y/N. She can't wait to meet you."
You were about to say something sweet to your niece, when you were rudely interrupted.
"That's all nice, but here is your favorite person ever. It's me! Uncle Wooyoung, also your godfather."
His body blocked you from the camera, going on a ramble about the latest baseball game he monitored and how they would someday do it together. Two could play at that game.
Shoving him aside, you smiled.
"I apologize for the interruption honey, some people are just not that well mannered. I can't wait to bake cookies with you! I'm going to save all of my recipes for you. I'll teach you all about making the perfect panna cotta, or a good cheeseca-"
You were pushed to the side now, Wooyoung taking over again.
"Bla-bla. As I was saying, we'll make you your own little headset, and I'll let you push the buttons that control the cameras. We will have a blast doin-"
It was a good thing his hair was so long, it gave you a good enough grip to push him out of the way.
Jimin eventually had to turn the camera off, before it got out of hand.
"Big, expensive, but ours. Come on, the boys can take care of Minnie."
You followed Arin inside, glancing back at Jimin and Wooyoung. The latter had baby Minnie in his arms, bouncing her around the front yard. You had to admit, it was a nice sight.
The couple was finally moved in, and they decided to celebrate by getting a bouncy house for the neighborhood kids, as well as some finger foods you took care of.
Said bouncy house was currently being set up by two college boys who were suspiciously relaxed looking.
"Yo, dudes. All set up." One of them said, hands deep in his pockets.
"Okay boys, how much did you say again?"
Jimin dug into his pants for his wallet, Minnie cooing in Wooyoung's arms. He was flying her around, making airplane noises.
"Twenty bucks will do. Just enough for another one, right Jo?" He turned to his friend who nodded.
Wooyoung stopped for a second, his curiosity getting the better of him. "Enough for what?"
"Weed, dude."
Jimin's eyes budged out, while Wooyoung tried to cover Minnie's ears.
"Isn't that illegal?" He whispered, watching as the boys chuckled.
"When you say it's for medical purposes, it's not. Besides, you've smoked before, surely."
"Hey, now. I don't want my neighbors to hear you going on about something highly illegal. We just moved in and first impress - Put that away!"
Wooyoung watched as Jimin snatched the little packet of green stuff from the young man's hands. He protested at first, but they shushed them again.
"Now." His best friend turned serious. "I will confiscate this for your own good. Here's thirty bucks just for you to get the hell out of here."
Dudes one and two, as Wooyoung called them in his head, sulked all the way to their beat up car before leaving the street. He didn't mention how Jimin put the weed in his pocket with a slight smirk. His focus was now solely on his little god daughter, who was letting out cute giggles while he bounced them around the blown up castle.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, she's in her spit-up phase." Jimin warned.
"Oh, come on. We're having fun. Aren't we Minnie? Yes, we are. Oh ye-"
A blob of milk and her baby food hit his face full force.
"Ha, ha, so funny. I can't wait for you to be on the receiving end. It's bound to happen."
Wooyoung was washing his face for the third time, the dish soap almost half way empty by this point. You didn't pay much attention to him, cooing at a smiling Minnie. What can you say, it brought you immense joy to see him suffer.
Arin was setting up the table outside, some of the neighbors already arriving. Many brought their children who were running in and out of the house.
"Are you done scrapping at your face? We should probably give them a hand out there."
"It's nice of you to wait for me. Are you used to waiting on your men?"
"Only the ones too immature to be left to their own devices."
You didn't listen to his remark as you stood up and made your way to the front yard. Arin was immersed in a conversation with a buff man named San, who previously apologized for his husband's absence. Him and Yeosang lived right next door, the latter being stuck at the office way later than anticipated. Jimin was surrounded by two women, Yeji and Soojin, cracking jokes about the wonders of parenthood. Their respective husbands, Jin and Taehyung, were trying to get their children to come down from a tree. It was a lively bunch, you had to say.
"Oh, Y/N! Come and meet everybody. Wooyoung, you too. There guys will be around a lot, so you might as well get to know them."
Days later, you were in your bathtub, taking your weekly spa bath. Once a week, you let yourself enjoy the bubbles, while you drink a glass of bubbles. Right now, you were going through some business cards left by your tip jar. A guy named Sam came in today, and you thought you might have hit it off. Shame on you for not taking that card right away, otherwise you wouldn't be in this predicament.
There were four different Sams in your hands, one of them being a married man who needed you for your catering. The other was a gay guy, only looking for your cinnamon bun recipe. The third was just a woman with a deep, sultry voice. She did ask if you were single, but you shut down the idea as soon as it came into your head. It had to be the last one. There were no more cards with that name left. Just as you were about to dial, your phone rang in you hand.
"Oh, God. She better not ask for another chance."
You picked up, not looking at the number, ready to let female Sam down again.
"Hello?" A deep voice did answer, but you knew in an instant it wasn't something to look forward to. It soon proved right, as the police officer on the other line let you in on the events that occurred that evening.
Your tear stained face looked up at the man in front of you. His uniform was too tight on his stomach, and Arin would have thought it was funny probably.
She wouldn't be able to think again, ever.
"Yes?" You managed to rasp out.
"I'm sorry about your loss. I know this is a difficult time for you, but I assume you have some questions for us?"
"Hm, yes. They said it was... They flipped? And um, they have - they had a daughter. Nobody mentioned anything about her. I need to know..."
"The baby is fine. She was with a babysitter tonight. Your friends were blinded by the lights of a semi truck, and Mr Park couldn't get a hold of the wheel fast enough, it seems. The crash killed them instantly."
A sigh of relief left you when you heard about Minnie. At least your baby girl was fine. But, oh... Arin, poor Arin.
"So there... There probably was no pain? She might have not even... Anyway, what's going to happen to Minnie? Where is she now?"
"She is in the care of CPS workers right now. You'll be able to pick her up tomorrow, after you have a talk with Mr and Mrs Parks attorney. We just have to wait for Mr Jung, he was also called in as Jimin's emergency contact."
As if on queue, the door to the station opened, and there stood Wooyoung. You've never really seen him this disheveled before. Death probably does that to a person.
Your eyes met, and you made your way over to him. He cleared his throat.
"Are they..."
You only nodded, eyes filling with tears again.
"Minnie?"
This time, you shook your head, and he visibly relaxed.
No other words were said for a short while. There were only the two of you in the hallway, still processing the news. Wooyoung reached a hand out to you, and it was enough for you to wrap your arms around him and start sobbing into his shoulder. He gently caressed your hair while wiping his own tears from his face.
Arin and Jimin's house was a sight to see. You told her as much a week ago, back when she was alive and well. Now, it was like walking into a ghost house.
"It feels wrong. Being here without them feels wrong."
You glanced back at Wooyoung, the grimace on his face reflecting his feelings.
"I know. But the officer said it would be best to spend the night here if they bring Minnie around. She's still so young, so little to comprehend all of this."
"What about us? We're all grown up, but it doesn't make it any easier."
"I don't know! You think I was prepared for something like this? Do you think I went home yesterday after work and went, oh I wonder what I'd do if my best friend died?"
He slammed the front door shut, striding over to you.
"Watch it now, you're not the only one who lost a best friend. Jimin was like family, like a brother to me."
You sighed, too tired to argue at this point. "Yeah, and I'd bet you they would already be handling this way better if it was the other way around."
Your remark was met with silence. Not something you were used to from him, but you guessed at this point, nothing will be like it used to. There was no point dragging the evening on further, so you made your way to the staircase.
"I'm taking the guest room for the night. You can go to their room."
He shook his head, pointing at the couch in the living room.
"No chance. I think this will do."
"Okay, fair. We'll talk tomorrow. Goodnight."
Without another whisper, you made your way up and into bed. Maybe if you slept long enough, it would erase the past three hours.
Wooyoung woke up with a headache. Not only that, but his back was killing him as well. There was a crash somewhere around the house, and he quickly stood up. It all came back to him suddenly. All of the events from the previous day.
His best friend, dead and cold. His wife as well. Little Minnie waiting with some unknown people for her parents to show up.
Y/N, who's devastated face he couldn't get out of his head for most of the night.
His feet took him to the source of the crash which would be the spacious kitchen his friends decorated not too long ago. Y/N stood by the fridge, a pile of baby food splattered around her bare feet. She somehow looked composed. Her hair in a ponytail, one of Arin's favorite sweaters wrapped around her small form. Barely moving around, she glanced at Wooyoung.
"Sorry if I woke you up, the stupid bowl with the stupid coffee creamer Arin loves was stuck between some batches of Minnie's food. I'll clean it up."
She stopped for a second, a sigh leaving her. "Arin loved."
"Why are you up so early?" He managed to let out, throat still tight from sleep.
"Their lawyer called. He'll be here in an hour to go through the paperwork. You should take a shower, I'm sure Jimin has some clothes that fit you."
He nodded, turning around to make his way upstairs before letting out a sigh that matched Y/N's.
"Had."
The tension between you was palpable, but if Mr Song noticed, he chose not to comment on it. Their lawyer was a partner at Jimin's firm, and they were well antiquated over the years. Maybe not friends, but Song Mingi knew a lot about the two of you through his, now former, colleague.
"Y/N, Wooyoung. I'm sorry for your loss. Jimin was a great man, an even better lawyer. It's a shame his life ended the way it did. The same goes about Arin."
How many more times would you have to hear that?
"As you know, we're here to discuss their will. Minnie is with a social worker right now, but you can go pick her up in an hour or so. It would be best for you to stay at the house for the time being, seeing how it was in their possession and all of the taxes have been paid off. It won't come as a big shock to Minnie, because she's familiar with this place. What you do in the future will be up to you, but this is a beautiful home, and Minnie will be raised well here."
"I'm sorry, what?" You found yourself saying, while Wooyoung remained as still as stone next to you.
Mingi furrowed his brows. "Was I not clear enough?"
You shook your head.
"Oh, you were clear, but it sounds to me like your implying we should... Live here? But who exactly? Me or him?" You pointed at Wooyoung, who swallowed nervously.
"Y/N." Mingi started again, this time going slower. "You are aware that Jimin and Arin named the two of you legal guardians of their daughter in case both of them were unable to care for her? Not separately, but together."
"What?"
It was the first thing leaving Wooyoung's mouth since you've sat down.
"There must be a mistake. Look at the papers again, please." You insisted.
"Maybe they forgot about Jimin's dad. He could take care of her?"
Your head snapped towards him, not believing his words.
"Yeah, right. The man has a breathing device, but sure, let's hand him a one year old."
"As opposed to? Hm? You and me being parents?"
"It's literally in their will."
"I'm sensing this was a surprise to both of you."
Mingi's eyes widened when he saw how irritated the two of you were.
"Are there any other options? What if I take her, you know, solo?" You questioned, swatting Wooyoung away just as he was about to protest. Mingi just shook his head.
"That would require a court hearing, and a lengthy legal process. Minnie would remain in custody until the judge made a decision. It seems like you two aren't keen on this idea anyways, so maybe that's the course we should take?"
"Can you just... Give me a minute, yeah." You stood up, making a run for the front door.
"Yeah, just a minute." Wooyoung's chair scrapped along the polished floor as he raced towards the back door.
The brick steps didn't make for a comfortable place to sit, but you didn't have much of a choice at this point. What in the world was Arin thinking? You and him? Parenting? Why wouldn't she mention something this big to you? Granted, she probably didn't think she'd ever need to tell you. Too late now.
How could you leave Minnie in the care of strangers? Her parents were dead, the rest of the family was radio silent for most of the time. Wooyoung and you were her best chance. The house, the neighborhood... It was their dream. You couldn't crush that.
If it took being with Wooyoung all the time, you'd do it. Their family deserved it.
Brushing off your pants, you made your way inside.
Wooyoung wasn't fairing much better on the other side. Taking care of a baby? He barely took care of himself. Playing family in your dead friend's house? With you? How could he?
Minnie's face flashed in front of his eyes. She was so little, so helpless still. Without a clue how cruel the world just got. She didn't deserve this. It was up to the two of you to give her the best life she deserves. Damned be your reasonable thinking. You were the only right choice.
Mind set, he returned to the table, finding you already there.
Mingi crossed his arms, regarding the both of you.
"My baby girl. Oh, I've missed you." You cradled Minnie to your chest, while Wooyoung took her bag from the social worker.
"If the two of you need anything, feel free to call. Your hearing is scheduled in five days. I hope everything works out for you."
The poor woman probably didn't deserve the cold shoulder you gave her, but Wooyoung made up for your attitude by thanking her. You were just over it at this point.
"We have to talk."
Wooyoung's tone didn't leave room for argument, so you just nodded and placed Minnie in her play pen in the living room.
"Do you seriously think we can do this?"
You scoffed. "As opposed to? Leaving her in the care of a foster family? She's one! She doesn't even know what's going on. Her mom and dad are dead, and were the closest thing to them she'll ever know."
"You and me? We can never replace her real parents. I won't ever try to."
"I am not saying we should replace them. That's not possible. I'm saying we should honor their final wish, and do our best. They wouldn't have picked us if they didn't think we'd do a good job."
He let out a dry laugh. "We're talking about the same two people who thought we'd make a great pair. We didn't even make it out of your driveway."
That bastard.
"And whose fault was that? Mr Penis Doctor?"
"Real classy Y/N."
A cry interrupted you. Minnie was getting fussy, right at the worst time.
"Hey baby, no. Don't cry."
Wooyoung made his way to pick her up, but you stopped him.
"No, no. It's good to let her self soothe. She needs to know that everything is okay, just let her work through it."
He looked at you in disbelief. "Yeah, she eats her own snot and can't hold her own spoon, but let the baby pat herself on the back."
"Oh, come on! Arin thought it was a good tactic."
"Jimin thought it was lame."
Minnie's wails echoed throughout the house as the two of you went on. At some point, you realized the self soothing wasn't working.
"Maybe she's hungry. Is that it Minnie? Come on, aunt Y/N made you some carrot puree."
"Yuck."
Your icy stare made Wooyoung raise his hands up in defence.
Trying to feed a crying baby was a disaster. Her hands kept flailing about, and the carrot puree was obviously a bad choice.
"Why don't I call Mingi and set up a meeting with social services? We can help out with picking the family."
"For the last time, I'm not giving her up! We can do this! We'll make a schedule. She needs us. Not some strangers who don't know anything about her. We're her best bet."
Minnie's cries were only getting louder, and by now, most of the puree was all over both of you. Wooyoung rummaged through the cabinets before dumping a handful of goldfish on her feeding table.
The crying stopped as soon as one of them made it's way into her mouth. You sighed, eyes welling up with tears.
"You still think we're her best option?"
His voice rang through your head later that evening as you watched Minnie sleeping soundly in her play pen. The whole day was a disaster, from start to finish. At least she was too tired from all the crying to protest falling asleep.
"She out?"
You didn't turn your head, trying as best as you could to keep steady.
"Yeah."
"Do you honestly think we should do this?"
"Look at her, Wooyoung. Tell me you could leave her, right now, and never regret it. I know I can't."
His shoulder bumped into yours when he sat next to you on the floor. His fingers lightly brushed across Minnie's cheek, a small smile on his face.
"Fine. Have it your way. I can't leave her."
Your head fell onto his shoulder, too exhausted to think straight. He didn't even stiffen, opting to lay his own over yours.

"You know you don't have to take the tins into the bedroom, right? Mingi promised he wouldn't try to steal them."
"I wasn't planning on stea-"
"You, zip it."
Yunho motioned for Mingi to keep his mouth shut.
He'd already gotten them into this predicament because of his lack of thinking. Y/N glanced between the men, supposedly her new owners, and tightened her hands around the bundle of blankets and sardine tins in her hands.
"I'd rather not take any chances."
Yunho nodded, motioning for her to follow him into the bedroom.
His bedroom, where she would sleep for the night. They didn't have a spare room for the hybrid, so he has to think of a way to make enough space for her. But, that was a problem for tomorrow.
"Okay, here you go then. Make yourself as comfortable as you want. My tablet is on the desk, you can use it if you want. Do you need another blanket? More pillows?"
The black cat glanced briefly around the room. It wasn't really decorated, aside from some Spiderman posters and a huge setup for gaming. Y/N knew she wouldn't even touch his tablet, never having the chance to use one before. Electronics were off limits at her old place. She might break something, and make Yunho angry.
"This is fine. More than it, actually. Oh, I've never seen a bed so big!"
She let go of her things to jump onto the mattress. It was like laying on a cloud, all fluffy, and the cotton sheets felt nice on her skin. Yunho's scent was much softer than Mingi's. While the giant goofball smelled like amber and musk, all manly and tough, Yunho was like a meadow.
The men watched as she flopped around, nuzzling her face into the pale blue comforter. Yunho might have felt a blush creeping on his neck, but it was a little hotter today than usual.
"If you need anything, I'll be right across from you. If you can't sleep, or if you decide you don't like his bed after all. Mine's ten times more comfy."
Mingi let it all out in one breath, trying to ignore Yunho's obvious frown. Ultimately, he couldn't.
"What? I'm just saying! Maybe she might like it more?"
Yunho scoffed, catching his shoulder in a light punch.
"Yeah, right. You're just mad she gets to spend her first night in my bed."
"I can try your bed tomorrow night?"
They looked at her again, all bundled up, starting to get drowsy. She cleared her throat.
"That is, if I stay long enough."
"And why wouldn't you? You heard him missy, you're staying with us!" Mingi exclaimed, kneeling down to look her in the eyes.
"Oh... Then I guess we'll do it." She smiled, and Yunho's heart flipped, again.
"Okay, now that we've established that, let's leave you to it. Come on Min, she needs to rest." He pulled him up and pushed him in the direction of the door.
"The offer still stands for tonight!"
"Alright already!"
The door shut behind them, but they could hear her faint chuckle as they made their way into the living room.
Yunho looked at the couch, his bed for the time being apparently, and sighed.
"What are we doing, Mingi?"
"I don't know about you, but I'm gonna make myself a sandwich and watch Love Island."
"I mean about Y/N, you idiot."
Mingi let out an 'ah', getting his point.
"Well, we get to keep her, you said so."
"I know what I said, but how are we going to do that?"
They sat next to each other, staring right ahead into the black screen of the shut TV.
"Okay, so... Okay, I don't know."
If he wasn't so tired, he would've punched Mingi for getting them into this mess. Now that he said it was okay for her to stay, he couldn't take that back. It would devastate Mingi, and it would probably crush Y/N's heart. How long was she out there on the streets, fending for herself? Spending sleepless nights out in the open, trying to defend herself from strangers like today?
What about the things she said her previous owner did? Would Yunho be okay with letting her go back to that? To be locked away with no food, punished for silly, human mistakes?
"Let's go about it like this. Tomorrow's Monday, I have to go to work at ten. I'll be back before five probably. You entertain her in the meantime, and I'll go to a shelter to see how we handle this. Then, when I come back you'll go to work and I'll take care of her."
"That sounds good. And look! We won't be so alone anymore. You'll have company in the evening, and I will have something other to do than nap during the day. She's perfect! I'll teach her how to game, so we can beat you."
Yunho chuckled, patting Mingi on the head.
"Yeah... That'll do. Just, try not to scare her off. She's still skittish, and you are way too loud for normal people."
"I am not!" Mingi flinched at this own volume.
"Okay, maybe I am. I'll keep it down, for her sake."
.

.
The rumbling of the coffee machine almost made Yunho fall asleep again. His head rested on the kitchen counter, so heavy he thought it might explode.
Last night was a disaster. Between tryin to to fit his whole body on the couch, and his brain thinking about the fluff ball asleep in his bed, he couldn't rest.
Footsteps, light as air, made him raise his head. There stood Y/N, hair a mess, shirt askew, with a rosy blush on her cheeks, and a line right down her face. Probably from his pillows.
"Hey there kitty. Why are you up so early?"
"I heard a crash, and then I smelt the coffee. It's really strong. I kind of forgot where I was for a second, so I had to come out and check."
Said crash being Yunho running into the little table in their living room, too out of it to remember it was even there.
"Ah, sorry. That was me. I didn't mean to wake you. Mingi usually sleeps like a boulder, so I didn't even think."
She sat next to him, letting her legs dangle from the hight chair.
"It's okay. I'm used to loud noises. Can't really get past them when you're outside all night."
Y/N said it so casually, holding her head up with the palm of her hand. She smiled at Yunho, and he almost choked on his next breath.
"You really had it tough, kitty?" He asked, watching as she shrugged.
"It wasn't easy, but it was better than being with my last owner. You know, he also picked me off of the street. My last shelter wasn't a good place, so a bunch of us ran away. I thought he would help me, but it turns out, stranger-danger is a real thing."
Yunho frowned, the thump in his chest seeming louder.
"But you... You came home with Mingi and me?"
She laughed, nodding. "Who wouldn't come along with that goof of yours? He looked like he'd cry if I'd swiped at him one more time."
He laughed along with her, remembering how hurt Mingi looked in that alleyway.
"Ah, so he was the deal breaker."
"He helped, but no. It was you who sealed it for me."
Yunho was now confused. His refusal to take her made her accept?
"I see how that might sound, but I knew you stood on business. Everybody is so eager to take in a hybrid, especially one like me. They think we're desperate for a home, but most of the time, we're glad we're not mistreated."
She stood up, stretching her limbs like a real car would.
"I just hope the two of you are an exception."
"We are. We will be." He replied, a bit eager to prove they were different.
They would give her a good home, he decided right then.
She looked at him, a smile growing on her face.
"As long as you bring in tinned fish, you're good."

Summary: Roommates Yunho and Mingi wanted to add something to their lives to make them more interesting. They just didn't expect that thing to have cat ears and an attitude so strong it got them more and more enamoured as the days passed. Yunho now had two princesses on his hands.
Yunho and Mingi have always been close. Some might suggest that it was too close, but it never bothered them much. They were confident, grown men, who sometimes liked to cuddle.
But, that's besides the point.
Their apartment was nice, homey, and they had just enough space to not run into each other all the time.
So much so, that Mingi always complained how they needed an addition to their little family. He wanted a pet, then he wanted a couple of plants, before he ultimately decided that - he couldn't decide.
It was just that little amount of space that could hold something else, he just couldn't figure out what.
"How about we buy one of those robots? You know, the ones which clean and talk at the same time?"
Yunho scoffed, throwing Mingi a side eye.
"Yeah, sure. With me working as a dance teacher assistant, and your sporadic DJ gigs, we can definitely afford to buy a robot."
"Okay, maybe I went overboard, but come on. We need something, anything! And by the way, we're doing just fine!"
Yunho sighed, watching as his best friend slumped over the couch cushions. Mingi was probably bored out of his mind, and a bit lonely, as their schedules barely left them time to hang out with each other.
Mingi worked nights at a popular club in town, while Yunho kept himself busy during the day in a dance studio. Somewhere between seven until nine was all they had to fill one another in about their lives.
"Hey... We're both free today, why don't we go out? It hasn't gotten chilly yet, and I'm kind of in the mood for frozen yoghurt."
Mingi glanced at him, his face not giving anything away.
Ah, so Yunho had to take out the big guns.
In all of his six feet glory, he stalked over to the couch and threw himself over his friend. That was enough to make the blonde burst into a fit of laughter.
"Okay, okay! Get your skinny ass off of me. We'll go out."
"Yay!"
"By the way, you're paying."
"Of fucking course, like every time."
.
.
"I don't know why people call it frozen yoghurt when it's basically ice cream, you know?"
"Except that it isn't, it's literally frozen yoghurt."
Mingi frowned, probably offended by Yunho's lack of participation in his internal (and external) battle.
"Okay, Mr Smartass. So, our issue? What are we going to do about it?"
It was Yunho's turn to frown. He genuinely hoped Mingi would let it go, but apparently not.
"I... I don't know. We need something low maintenance. Something that will fill the apartment without our routines affecting it. I'm home at night, but I'm all beat. You sleep most of the day, naps are your favourite activity."
"Yeah... And, we barely know how to cook. I mean... I do, but you... You're shit."
The dancer gave him a sharp look, but Mingi just waved him away.
"Please, be for real. You burn eggs on the regular, and don't get me started on your attempt at a sandwich. People usually don't eat the plastic around their cheese slices, you know?"
"That was one time!"
Mingi ate his last spoonful while shrugging.
"One time too many."
"So basically, no animals, no plants, no... I don't know?"
Okay, maybe it did bum Yunho out a bit. He could be on board with the idea of something filling their apartment, but they were both doomed.
"Nothing. We can't even take care of ourselves!"
Both men stood up to throw away their empty cups, leaving the little shop and making their way back home.
They were never really silent, always chatting about anything and everything, but they barely made a sound as they walked.
"Have you thought... I guess it's a bit unusual, but these days not so much. In fact, I think San and Wooyoung talked about it not too long ago. Um..."
Yunho looked at his best friend, who suddenly seemed a bit anxious. He could only imagine what kind of storm was going on in that head of his.
"Go on."
Mingi took a deep breath.
"Well... They talked about hybrids."
That made Yunho stop in his tracks.
"A... What now?"
Mingi shrugged. "You know, a hybrid? There are many out there looking for a home. Maybe we can give them one?"
"A hybrid and a cactus aren't the same thing, princess. You do know we would need to take extra good care of it. I'm afraid we aren't quite up to the task."
The blond nodded, his expression going sour.
"You're probably right. It was just... Just a thought."
Yunho nodded, and they kept walking in silence.
That is, until something crashed in the alley they were passing. A hiss sounded from their left, and both stopped abruptly.
"Go away! You freak!"
"Ouch! You bitch! You scratched me!"
"Damn right I did, you sleezbag. Now, book it!"
They were still frozen in their steps when a boy with black cat ears ran right past them.
"What the fu..." Mingi mumbled, going towards the alley.
"Hey! You don't know what's out there! Mingi!"
Yunho ran after him, afraid something bad might happen. Mingi tended to get caught up in messy situations a lot, all thanks to his curiosity.
That's how they found out San and Wooyoung were dating, but that's a whole other story.
"Mingi! I told you... Oh."
Yunho's eyes widened.
There, crouched on the floor was a girl. Her hair was a bit messy, clothes too big to be hers. What mostly caught his attention were the ears similar to the boy's who ran away.
Two black cat ears, along with a long tail now pin straight.
The hisses couldn't be missed either.
Mingi was crouching in front of her, a bit too close to Yunho's liking.
"Yun! Look at her! She's so cute!"
"Cute? I'm not cute. How old are you, five? Only children talk like that."
Fiesty. It picked Yunho's curiosity.
"Why don't we let the lady go her merry way? I don't think she appreciates you invading her... Space like that."
Mystery girl's eyes fell on Yunho, head cocking to the side.
"Now you, you I like. Listen to the big man, he's obviously way smarter than you."
"I'm big too! See!"
Mingi sprang up to his feet, but in stead of proving a point, he only made the cat hybrid jumps backwards in fear.
"Don't come any closer! I swear, I will bite you! Now, go. Away."
"But I was only -"
"Mingi." Yunho's tone for more serious. "You heard her."
The giant bowed his head in defeat. He knew Yunho wouldn't use that tone unless he really was doing too much.
"Fine. I really wanted to get to know you, little kitty. I guess we'll go."
She huffed, muttering something about a 'stupid giant' under her breath.
Mingi turned on his heels and made his way to his friend. Yunho thought they were in the clear, until Mingi opened his mouth again.
"Hey. Do you want to come home with us? We can give you some food and some clothes."
"Song Mingi!" He was going to strangle him in his sleep tonight.
"What? We were just talking about getting a hybrid! I saved us some time, you could try being thankful!"
The brunette was frazzled.
"Thankful? Are you crazy!? Did you not hear me saying we probably couldn't take care of one? Are you out of your mind? We literally don't know her. She could be -"
"Do you have sardines?"
Her voice interrupted Yunho's mental breakdown. He turned and stared at her.
"Do we - What?"
"Sardines. I haven't had them in so long. Might as well... You know."
"We do! Oh I know we do! Yunho always buys them, even though we don't even eat them much. How many tins do we have? I'd say probably five. Isn't that right?"
Mingi was positively vibrating, now making his way back over to the cat hybrid.
"I can give you all five if you promise not to bite us."
He reached out his hand, waiting to seal the deal.
"Mingi!"
"Deal."
.
.
.
If you ask Yunho why he loved Mingi so much, he'd probably say because he wasn't afraid to chase after the things he really wanted.
Right now, he hated that quality of his.
There, on his second hand couch, sat a tiny girl, dressed in a mix of their clothes with her damp hair hanging down her back.
Of course, her black cat ears were also soaping wet, but it didn't bother her much as she was munching away at her sardines. Straight from the tin.
"See? This isn't so bad."
Yunho turned to look at Mingi who was enamored with 'the little kitty' as he called her all the way home.
"Isn't so bad? We have a hybrid, who we don't know anything about, sitting on our couch, eating my sardines!"
"The ones you never eat but buy in bulk? Yeah, huge problem."
"Do you not see how this is wrong? We should probably take her to a shelter as soon as possible."
Mingi gasped, grabbing the dancer by the shoulders.
"We are not doing that! Look at her! She's so sweet and cute. And those ears! Oh, I'm in love."
"She literally made a grown man cry, but so sweet, yeah." Yunho frowned, his gaze returning to her.
"We don't even know her name."
"Well, I can fix that. Hey, cat lady!"
She snapped her head in their direction.
"What?"
"What's your name?"
"Y/N."
"Okay, so adorable, thanks!"
The cat shrugged, dismissing Mingi in favour of opening her third tin.
"Now we know. It fits her, don't you think?"
"I need to lay down. Like, right now."
Yunho basically ran out of the kitchen, bolting into his room and slamming the door shut. He had to think.
He had to be rational.
Even when he thought her silent purrs were to die for, he could not fold.
What in the world were they doing? They couldn't throw her back out on the steet, that would be cruel. They also couldn't keep her. Or maybe they could?
He didn't know, seeing how he never imagined being in this situation.
His turmoil was cut short with another hiss from the living room.
"Hey! You promised no scratching!"
"No, I said no biting!"
Yunho ran back out, finding Mingi clutching his hand to his chest, while Y/M held her hand over the tin.
"Can someone please tell me what the hell happened? You were alone for five minutes!"
"He wanted to take my sardines! He promised all five tins were mine! You can't take back promises. Only bad people do that. Then, they lock you up and don't give you food for days. Then, they only give you kibble, which you don't even eat. So, no taking back!"
Her rant made them freeze. Mingi's face dropped, and Yunho felt his heart clench.
"Did... Somebody did that to you?" Yunho asked, going over to sit on the armchair across from her.
"Yeah. It wasn't that bad, but I didn't like it. Some good people helped me get away, but I didn't know where to go. I know I'm not like the other cats, but I can be good! You just can't be bad to me, otherwise I will defend myself."
Mingi nodded, dropping his hand to look at the small red line her nails left. If that was the worst she could do, he'd survive. It probably wasn't as bad as the things she's been through.
Yunho, always the reasonable one, cleared his throat.
"Okay, here's how this is going to go. You can stay here tonight, eat your tins, and we'll make you a comfy place to sleep on the couch. Or you can have my room, and I'll sleep here. But we have to take you to a shelter tomorrow. You can't go back on the street."
"No! No shelter! They'll put me in a room with a stinky dog again, and I'll die!"
Y/N fell backwards on the couch, covering her face with her hands. Mingi fell to his knees, reaching for her hands and pulling her back up.
"You can stay here! We won't take you back there, no chance. Yunho, please! Please!"
"We can't just... This isn't that easy Mingi!"
"But it is! Look at her! We can give her a good home, and we'll have company all the time. You'll hang out with us, right?"
She sighed, clearly not overly into the idea, but her face gave her away.
"I mean... It is pretty lonely out there."
Yunho's heart did a flip again. Stupid thing.
"I..." He was at a loss for words. All of his arguments evaporated out of his mind as soon as he looked into her eyes.
"Please, Yunho. We can give her a good home, can't we?"
Yunho looked between his best friend, still holding onto her hands, and the hybrid's eyes.
He couldn't believe how impulsive all of this was. How abrupt. Their lives would probably change a lot. They would have to adjust to having another person around. Oh God, he would have to learn how to cook. What to cat hybrids even eat? All of his thoughts muddled together, before he ultimately came to a decision.

Hongjoong
"Okay, that's it. Time for bed."
"But Y/N!"
There was no response from you, only the insistent pushing of your hands against Hongjoong's back in the direction of his bedroom.
He'd been sitting in his study for god knows how long, going over the new tracks for the upcoming album. Being a good friend, you came over with coffee and something sweet, but you haven't seen much of him in the past three hours.
"No, I don't care." You finally replied.
With another light shove, Hongjoong was now on his bed, looking up at you. That was a sight to see, with your hands on your hips and an angry expression painted across your face.
"I came over to spend some time with my best friend, but I can see that this comeback is wearing you out. Now, lay down and shut up before I make you!"
You grabbed a blanked from the corner of his bed and tucked him in. Hongjoong was quiet throughout the whole ordeal, only looking at you.
You, the person who cared too much about him, but too little about yourself.
You, who came over whenever he needed a second opinion on something he was working on, or just somebody to sit and give him comfort.
No, not just somebody.
You.
"I'm gonna go make us something to eat, you can't survive on those cookies I brought. Untill then, sleep."
There wasn't any room for him to argue because you stormed off and out of his room, the door slamming behind you.
"Sorry!"
Leave it up to you to make an exit like that, but still stay polite.
Hongjoong chuckled, snuggling further into the sheets. Once he closed his eyes, the sound of you rummaging though his kitchen lulled him to sleep.
It's when he realized.
He was in love with you, and he couldn't wait to tell you.
Well, once he'd taken a good nap, otherwise you'd just beat him up probably.
Seonghwa
"So, technically, I wasn't in the wrong here! Don't you agree?"
Your question was met with silence on Seonghwa's end.
"Hwa?"
He snapped out of his daze, realising you were expecting an answer. To be quite honest, he hadn't heard a word you've said. Somewhere along your story he got lost in your eyes. That had been a recurring issue for him for the past month or so.
You two have been friends for a long time, and he's always been attentive, but lately he's been having a hard time focusing on anything you're saying.
Maybe it's because work has been kicking his ass, or because he hasn't been getting enough sleep.
Or, maybe because your shiny lipgloss makes your lips look more kissable than ever.
"S-Sorry. Yeah! You were totally wrong!"
Your eyes almost popped out of your head.
"What? How can you say that? God, I thought you were on my side?"
Oh no.
"I am! Yes, I am!"
Okay, now you were confused.
"But you just said-"
"Yeah, well I changed my mind!"
"Seonghwa... What's going on?"
He sighed, plopping his head on your dining room table. Truth be told, he had an incline of what was happening to him, but it was hard putting it into words.
Silence enveloped the two of you, but Seonghwa's mind was louder than ever.
"Honey? Come on, you've gotta talk to me."
"I... I just... I'm just a bit tired. Work has been... A lot. Yeah, work."
"Oh honey... I know it's been a kick in your butt, and I'm over here bothering you with silly things! Come, let's go sit on the couch and watch a movie."
Before Seonghwa could get another word in, you grabbed his hands and placed him on the couch. You didn't stop there, grabbing a blanket and tucking him in.
"There! Now, sit tight, I'm gonna make us some popcorn."
You placed a kiss on his head and off you went.
That's when he decided.
He's definitely in love.
And he's definitely telling you that as soon as you come back from the kitchen.
Yunho
Love is... A fickle thing.
At least, that's what Yunho always thought.
People come and go, relationships start and end. It's probably how life works.
The only solid thing has always been you. His best friend, and roommate.
"So, I was thinking, we should probably move the couch over there by the window. That way, when I'm reading my books, there will be natural light coming in. You know I can't read with this awful lamp you don't want to throw out."
Yunho just stared back at you, letting you rant on and on about the stupid lamp he broke and put together about four times. You really hated it, but never insisted on actually throwing it out because he put a lot of effort in putting it back together every time.
"I didn't know I'd wake up today and become Bob the builder."
"Oh come on, I'd never make you build something. You're awful with power tools."
"Hey! That was one time! And frankly, that shelf was really heavy!"
You huffed, going over to said shelf above the TV.
"That is why we have hole in our wall! See!" You pointed at said hole, now covered with a Cinamoroll sticker.
"Yeah, well... It isn't as bad as that awful paint job you did on our kitchen wall after you sprayed pasta sauce all over it!"
Turning around, he stomped right over the blue polka dots you did in hopes of covering up the stains before Yunho got off work.
You huffed again, putting your hands on your hips.
"What? I love those dots! And I even chose a colour you like! Now, that is a thing a good friend does!"
Yunho chuckled. "Yeah, thanks bestie."
Your eyes met, and you burst out into laughter.
Now that, that wasn't a fickle thing.
He watched as you shook your head and walked towards him. For a moment, his heart did a funny thing. A thing it's been doing a lot more lately when you're around.
Which is all the time, since you live together.
"Jokes aside, can we move the couch? I promise I won't say any nasty things about your precious lamp for at least a month."
The hopeful look in your eyes wasn't something he could say no to. Ever.
"We can move the couch. Go make space for it, I'm right behind you."
"Oh, yay! Thank you! I so love you more than Mingi! But don't tell him! He's sensitive."
You stood on your tip toes, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
Why are there hearts floating around you?
Have you always been this pretty?
Are there angels singing?
He must be going crazy.
No, it's not that, he realized finally.
It's love.
Yeosang
"Don't you think you're going a little overboard with the balloons? We may fly up into the sky at this point."
"Frankly, I disagree. I think there should be more. Maybe I should go to the store? I don't know if they're still open..."
Yeosang watched as you pondered over your idea, surrounded by well over fifty balloons.
You wanted his birthday party to be as perfect as possible, so you've been going around like a maniac trying to organise it.
"Y/N, I appreciate it, but please. No more balloons."
"Oh! Maybe I should go and buy a pinata! Which one would you prefer more - Batman or Ironman?"
He sighed, trying to fight his way through the colorful mess to get to you.
"Neither. You've done enough."
"But I just wante-"
"Y/N!"
That shut you up instantly. He hasn't raised his voice at you, ever. Maybe you did go nuts with the decorations, but hey. It kind of made you sad, honestly. Yeosang probably saw it in your expression, and panic overcame him.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled. I love everything you've done, and I appreciate it more than ever. Nobody's ever made such an effort before."
He patted you on the head, a gentle gesture he'd recently starred doing. Skinship wasn't his thing, but lately he's been finding himself using every opportunity to do so with you.
It was going awfully, but he's been trying.
"I guess I may have... Done a bit too much. I just wanted it to be perfect because..."
You went silent, nervously picking at one of the many golden frills hanging from the living room doorway.
He nodded, encouraging you to go on.
With a sigh, you continued, but your eyes looked anywhere but at him.
"You're going away on tour in a couple of days, and who knows when we'll see each other again? I want you to have a blast, and I want to cherish this birthday more than any other. And plus, I really put my sweat and tears into this! I even convinced Wooyoung not to kiss you! At all! Okay, maybe I bribed him. I'm out forty bucks and I have to organise his jewellery box tomorrow. It sucks, man."
Yeosang could only watch you in amazement. You really did all of that? Just because you'd... Miss him?
"Oh... Oh, wow. That's..."
When you finally looked at him, you were surprised to find his eyes a bit shiny.
"You're incredible. I will go and buy more balloons myself."
"Wha-"
Without another word, he turned around and marched towards the front door.
"Yeosang! People are coming over in less than an hour! You're the birthday boy, for crying out loud! You have to be here!"
"I'll be quick."
Your voice was cut off as he left, leaning against the door while catching his breath.
One thing was certain for him now.
Yeosang loved you.
He just hoped the store had a balloon with that exact saying on it.
