2018 is going to be the year I finally have sex
being a person is only a temporary and contextual property of both human and non-human beings
people are so paranoid nowadays that they refuse to acknowledge the consent of an eighteen year old person. it reminds me of the cases that led foucault and sartre to sign the 1977 petition. what can we do if not trust the person involved when they say that they consented and felt good? how could anyone (who wasn't even there) have authority over the interpretation of what happened? "they don't understand why they are a victim." if they need to be made to understand that they are a victim, then the victim is not really them, but the norms and the public's feelings which failed to take roots in the "victim"
to remain faithful to the fact that zuko is an unintelligent, hot-tempered deontologist and "an idealist with a pure heart" i keep his latinate density as low as i can
if the avatar: legend of aang movie has a million haters, then i am one of them. if the lazy capitalist nostalgiabait cash grab movie has ten haters, then i am one of them. if the soulless hideous slop has only one hater then that is me. if the noxious pandering betrayal of my beloved childhood show has no haters, then that means i am dead and not even my spirit remains to haunt these pathetic hacks. if the world enjoys the voltronification of avatar, then i am against the world.
I know I say this a lot, but it’s crazy to me that the atla fandom has any sort of tendency at all to portray zuko as rational, levelheaded, clever, knowledgeable, studious, meticulous, practical, reasonable, logical, or otherwise intelligent. while he does possess certain strengths, his greatest are his grit and tenacity, resilience built up through a lifetime of failures born of a tendency for heedlessness, rushing into choices without thinking through the consequences or weighing his options whatsoever. he has his moments, to be sure, but that’s largely because he happens to be far luckier than he gives himself credit for. oh, and while we’re at it, he’s also certainly not stoic, aloof, even-tempered, mature, or quiet. the fact that he’s foolhardy and impulsive and reckless and dramatic and loud and emotionally expressive and myopically driven and strong-willed are sort of his defining qualities, actually. they’re also the traits that make his character actually endearing, so im not really sure why people seem so determined to negate them.
enough tunisian cemetery. let's write the archaeology of knowledge
i hate the opinion some people hold that children's media is inherently dumb, because that is exactly what makes most children's media dumb in the first place. it lowers the expectations one can have for it, implies that children are inferior, and makes it acceptable to feed them fast-paced brainrot like that is simply how things ought to be
"identity is cruel, you are not your flesh" i have no idea what this is supposed to mean since the use of the word "you" already implies some form of identification, and the rest of the sentence introduces a distinction between different identities of the self (me as body, and me as ???). the post really just transfers identity from the body to some hidden remainder while criticizing identity itself. unless what the post truly means is "worldly identity is cruel" but that is only my assumption
i have the mental structure of a christian devotee but then i spread opinions like all people should die and it is good when children suffer
i cant decide between environmental ethics and the ethics of virtue and duty, lecture wise. but i think the ethics of virtue and the ethics of duty are closer to my heart. i have already chosen "the philosophy of posthumanism: man, technology, and the new materialism" so i don't really need environmental ethics as a gateway to posthumanism. i will study posthumanism as it is anyway. also, i spent two years reading only the works of early church fathers, about gnosticism, and about desert fathers, and despite being really into ecology, marxism, animal rights, and so on, i don't really read that much about it. i watch youtube videos, sometimes read short essays, but rarely whole books
i like the idea of my body belonging to virtue and to the fruit of my work. my body is the path through which moral goods realize themselves. that is why i love loyalty to duty, to the purpose defined by one's predispositions. by focusing on myself, i find nothing. by focusing on an idea and on virtue, i find a purpose for the machine that i am. if there is anything worth living for, it is morality
eating kills your soul. i can only function normally in my body when i dont eat. otherwise, i bloat and get water retention. being hungry is good for my brain. food makes it dull and tangled. it is not even an eating disorder because i dont like women who are too skinny. but i have no choice but to be too skinny when the only food intake i can tolerate is very low. i think i should eat less but eat more calorie-rich food (still healthy food) so i can both eat little and look like a normal person
my life is peaceful yet it feels as though it only grows darker. i have been a violent person all my life. i remember fighting like this with my parents when i was about six years old and by "fighting" i mean literally beating them up. i have always been cringe too. never getting anything right. i was born marked
i saw my ontology teacher's hairy fat belly countless times today because he left the last button unfastened
same man
yesterday i had my last ontology class. i will miss my teacher. he was so gentle and so completely lost in his own world. he once spoke with us about the concept of the egregore and everyone laughed after class
