For how deep a rivalry they had, they are surprisingly normal about each other. Alonso used to make a lot of noise- mostly when they were competing against each other for wins and titles- about Vettel not being able to win if he didn't have the car for it, but he pretty much stopped doing that after both of them had their Ferrari Flop ™️ eras. Vettel has acknowledged (multiple times) that Alonso was probably his most difficult competitor but also said that they never really got the chance to know each other, being "too different." He also, even when Alonso was not being super complimentary towards him, sang his praises at every opportunity.

Fernando once said he wasn't afraid of being Sebastian's teammate, and that if he came to Ferrari, it "wouldn't be a problem." Five years later, Seb took his seat. In 2022, Seb basically gave his up to Fernando in favor of retirement. Fernando, in return, ran a tribute helmet designed like Seb's own for Abu Dhabi and told the media that he wasn't going to try to overtake him during the first laps, preferring to just watch him race one last time. What an interesting evolution.

There are a lot of really good pictures and videos of them together (one of my favorites is below, from Singapore 2012), and a ton of fascinating interviews that give a lot more insight into how they viewed each other and how that's changed over time. In my opinion, this is a super underrated ship in terms of how much content we have, even if they were never more than on-track competitors.

I finally read your paddock ghosts au and was inspired to draw this :) I know that Lance doesn’t really look like a ghosts ghost because he said he confuses other ghosts with living people. I hope you like it anyway!

Also: I guess that the ghosts don’t have the Injuries of their fatal crashes? I‘m really excited to learn more about how this curse works and about the „lives“ of the other ghosts!

Did I mention Lance died at home, in Canada? Did I mention he died at the hairpin of Turn 10 in front of a grandstand? Did I mention that he simply lost control of the car, that he was the only one at fault for it, if you could even call it that? That he was desperately alone in death? That he spent the first months afterward just trying to keep up with the constant movement of F1, now moving on without him? That Fernando was the first anchor he found?

my trick for learning the champions was in groups of 5 :) i knew up to 2000 basically so i added 5 more every time, practiced the new set, and after 10 days i know all 75!

Wait this might actually work... I already have them memorized until about the mid-90s so that's only 40 more years I need to learn
