right okay on my c!sapnap bullshit but like, his repetition of "it's only a joke" hits super hard because like, his role models for a healthy relationship (regardless of whether c!happy duo is a qpr or friendship or /romantic) are two super competitive men (bbh and skeppy) where they can shit on one another and argue but still go back to one another. like, their relationship in whatever form is it is so strong that they can say that they hate one another and still know the other doesn't mean it.
and while that's super awesome and a great dynamic, it does mean that c!sapnap hasn't seen the negative outbreak of arguments. because, like, everyone argues, but they love each other, right? it doesn't matter that they yell or say mean things, because in the end, they love one another, and it's okay.
so when karl screams at quackity that he's a murderer, when quackity yells that karl's a dick, sapnap knows they're joking! his dad yells at skeppy, and yeah, he calls him a muffin, but that's the same thing as a dick in bad-language, right? and they still love one another and are happy and not dead there's never been any death or murder between them what's a red egg?
but then c!karl screams that he never wants to see c!quackity again, and then c!quackity leaves and he doesn't come back, he says c!karl can never come to las nevadas, and then c!sapnap doesn't see quackity again, and karl doesn't remember, he doesn't remember quackity, and there's no hug, there's no "love you", there's no reconciliation? why's there no reconciliation? don't they love one another?
like, imagine how confused, how scared, c!sapnap would be, thinking that his fiances would be fine and then they aren't. they aren't.
now imagine how his view of c!happy duo's relationship influences his reasoning as to sticking by c!dream's side for so long. because, "because we're friends, y'know? like best friends, y'know. he definitely cares about me, right?" because how scared do you have to be to have known for so long that every insult is just a way of loving, and then being shown the contrary, that they didn't love you. that he didn't care about sapnap.
but it has to be a joke, right?
