Currently obsessed with the idea of Markiplier being a youtuber within the Project Hail Mary universe. Like, aboard the ship contained with All Of Humanity's Knowledge contains Markiplier's entire YouTube channel (omitting iron lung in this case).
Grace himself was not active on that side of the internet, if at all, but his students certainly were. Any time the number 87 is mentioned the 6th grade class for several years proclaim "Was that the bite of 87!?!?". He needs to tell them to tone it down sometimes, but once he asked them where it was from and several students enthusiastically tell them about their favorite youtuber and start dishing out fnaf lore unprompted. Another one pipes up talking about his choose your own adventure videos and his creativity with YouTube as a medium.
Grace doesn't think about it too much, but after one incoming apocalypse, one chemical conscription to the space force, and 4 years comatose in space later, he stumbles upon the anomalous iron submarine full of blood floating in the middle of nowhere?????? and he cracks it open and not only is there an Entire Human Being (plus or minus an arm) in there, but inside the vessel us The YouTuber Markiplier!?!?!?!??!?! The Bite of 87 guy my kids love???? Huh!?!??!?!?
