🔎 This is almost exclusively here to post about Cecil Stedman, will I expand into other characters and fandoms? Who knows! Not I!

some of your takes about what dating homelander would look like are inaccurate asf. he wouldn't be your daddy dom if anything he would be a tinkerbell dying of lack of attention
Actually I'll say one more thing; Invincible can not offer any serious commentary or critique on facism and power structures when there are Black Viltrumites.
Honestly the weirdest part about watching Invincible critique the Viltrumite empire is it doesn't reflect inward for Cecil and the heroes who follows him.
You cannot have a show "critiquing" the horrors of an imperialism nation while seamlessly forgetting your main heroes work for the most infamous one.
I made this blog like "I'm an ADULT. I can write RAUNCHY SHIT." but I must confess, dear reader, that nothing I've written these past few years has been NSFW.
First scetch is for @tortillaspecter who I'm yapping to about a cowboy!cecil au aaand second was done after I saw this outfit and wanted to draw Cecil in it....he looks so tourist-y in it hehe
"Cecil would play favorites with his hero lover" "Cecil would bench them if he thinks something is too dangerous" WRONG. Cecil would send his lover to their death if it meant saving the world and that's something they've both accepted going into the relationship.
Pairing: Cecil Stedman x gn!reader

Cecil had thought it was a joke at first, your odd way of hazing the new director. He was fresh, no one was comfortable with or around him. He wasn't surprised that someone kept trying to knock him off kilter and make him stumble.
"Do you have that mission report ready?"
"That depends, are you gonna let me take you out on that date, Cecil?"
"The report, now."
But the way you went about it nearly does toss him off balance, every time. You just kept flirting at the most inopportune times. Was it a weird way of establishing dominance, a purposeful show of a lack of respect? Were you just trying to get a rise out of him? He can clearly see you enjoyed flustering him, making it so he doesn't know where he stands with you.
"Next time you leave, can you walk a little slower."
"What."
"I'm trying to enjoy the view."
You followed orders well enough. You groaned and grumbled and quipped, but you listened. If you wanted a professional favor, your track record with the guardians was good enough if you wanted to negotiate for a raise or a vacation or whatever, so what would this incessant flirting get you? What was your angle?
"How are you recovering?"
"Doctors say I'll be field ready in a couple of weeks, although…"
"Yeah?"
"Maybe a kiss would help me heal faster."
"I'd rather find someone to replace you on the guardians"
Once, he tried to beat you at your own game, maybe you'd be the type who can dish it out but not take it. So he followed one of your usual quips, dripping with innuendo, with one of his own.
You'd stuttered, the faintest dusting of rose on your cheeks and Cecil smirked inwardly, thinking that maybe he'd finally called your bluff and shut you up. But then you grinned, like the cat that got the canary, and he realized he'd done nothing but encourage and reward your behavior.
And you were persistent. He had thought you'd get tired of it quickly. But now, seeing you walk into his office with two to-go cups of coffee in hand…
"What do you want?"
He thinks that well, he's been wrong before.
"What? I can't come visit my favorite director without an ulterior motive? You're hurting my feelings, Cece." You give him a grin and hand him a cup with a logo that he can only recognize as not-from-this-country. This is what you use your powers for, coffee runs?
"I'll ask again," he takes the cup out of your hand, "what do you want."
He takes a sip and wonders if you'd bribed Donald into giving you his coffee order, because he had no memory of telling you, yet you've always gotten it right.
Your sense of boundaries and personal space were underdeveloped. You had just waltzed into his office and now you sit yourself on the edge of his desk, demanding his full attention and refusing to let something as silly as paperwork share it.
"I mean, a raise would be nice," you muse, drinking from your own cup, "but I have my favorite drink and my favorite boss with me, what more could I ask for?" You gave him a wink, with a sharp smile that shows your canines.
Cecil could feel his eye twitch. This game was dragging on longer than he should have let it, even if he did find himself almost looking forward to those little antics of yours. Working at the GDA is routine and monotonous, the moments when you went off script were… refreshing in a way.
He didn't mind you, he minded more that he was getting comfortable around you. You, and your little idiosyncrasies, had become familiar.
Cecil puts down his coffee cup, and goes to stand in front of you. You eye him suspiciously, with interest, as he puts both hands flat on the desk by your hips and leans in to look you dead in the eye.
"Ooh, finally making the first move?" Any attempt at being serious or trying to intimidate dissipates with your cheeky tone, "I think I like it when you take charge."
He doesn't rise to your bait. "What are you after."
You raise a brow. "You, which I hoped would be obvious. Do I need to up the ante? I like you, Cecil." You set down your cup.
"Cut the crap," he says it forcefully, in the tone he usually reserved for insubordination, and hasn't had reason to use with you. It makes you jump back a little. "You've been at this for a while so what's. Your. Motive."
For once, you were the one caught on the wrong foot. You open your mouth and close it, "I-," "It's just-," a handful of false starts to whatever it is you were gonna say.
"Okay, fine," you finally sight and settle, "do you want sincere or shallow?" Your eyes are focused on the wall behind him.
Cecil scoffs. "Sincere? From you? Alright, I'll bite. Give me sincere."
"Radcliffe didn't have any scars when I met him."
"What."
"He didn't have any scars! He only got them after the Lizard League attacked the GDA and that was the first time I'd ever seen the man in any direct danger. He was a bureaucrat through and through, using us like a weapon he can fire from a distance without getting hit with any recoil."
"But… I know you used to be a field agent, and it was… nice that the new guy in charge actually knows what its like to be out there," you finally lift your gaze and take a pointed look at the scar on his cheek, permanent stain it was, "You're a hardass, but good, underneath it all. We're still weapons to you, I know that, but I feel… better, safer, when you're the one holding the trigger. "
You go back to staring at some fixed point on the floor. He bends to try and get back into your line of sight (on purpose, think of that) but you keep averting your gaze. Huh, well now he knows how to get you off kilter.
He sighs, a light release of breath and not frustration, and asks "And the shallow version?"
You finally look at him and grin again, cat and canary, brief vulnerability replaced with what Cecil is now confident is at least partly false bravado. You reach out to wrap your arms around his shoulders, drawing him near.
"The simple versions is that I think a man with scars is very attractive," back to how you were.
You lean your face in a little, leaving the ball in his court. This all has the air of finality in it, he could stop it right here.
But he moves his hands to your waist, and closes the distance. Your lips on his taste sweet chocolate and bitter espresso, and now he knows your coffee order. The kiss is soft, sweet and you sigh, content, into it.
"Hey…"
"Yeah?"
"Does this mean I can call you Cece in public now?"
"You make me violent, you know that?"
You laugh and he kisses you to quiet you down, tasting mocha on your tongue.
