Everyone knows that students are poor so here's a couple ways that you can save some extra cash while you're in college!
Pack your lunch! I know that having a Panda Express on campus might seem like the coolest thing, but trust me it's not. Buying lunch on campus every day adds up really fast so bring your own lunch and snacks!
Bring a reusable water bottle! A lot of times, schools raise prices on water bottles so save yourself some extra cash here and there by bringing your own water bottle. My school has this water refill station that dispenses purified water and it's so much easier than spending three dollars on a new water bottle every couple hours.
Use the printers on campus! Paper and ink can get expensive, especially when you have to print out hand outs, articles, essays, etc. School computer labs usually give you a certain amount of pages that you can print for free (at my school its 20 pages per day) so take advantage!
Use the school gym! Tuition includes free membership to your school's gym so cancel your membership at your old gym and check out the gym on campus. A lot of the time school gym's even offer cool classes like yoga, spin, and crossfit.
Check out your library's reserves! If you're strapped for cash and don't have enough money to pay for textbooks by the time your teacher asks you to bring it to class, go to your school's library and see if your professor has the textbook on reserve! Just copy the chapters that you need for class and you're set.
These are just a couple tips to help you save some cash here and there when you're on campus. What are some of your favorite money saving tips? We'd love to hear them!

Hey everyone! Sorry we've been inactive lately, but we'll be starting to post more often now that school is about to start. Let us know if there's any back to school topics or DIY's that you'd like for us to talk about! Also, if you'd like to join the Fledged team, send us an application here! Thanks!
So, I recently discovered Sugarfina a few days ago & I really wanted to try it out. The original store is in Beverly Hills & they recently opened one up at the Americana. I decided to go to the Americana just because it's closer for me.
I already knew that everything was a bit overpriced (I mean, it's a candy store from Beverly Hills) but I wanted to try it out anyways. I walked in & was instantly greeted at the door. The employees asked if I wanted to try some samples & I said yes. I tried these pretzel bites dipped in chocolate & sprinkled with bacon. It sounds a bit odd but trust me, it was so good.
I started to look around and I literally wanted to eat everything. I ended up buying sample packs of their Champagne Bears & Wild Strawberry Fruittinis. I also ended up buying small boxes of their Cola Cuties & Peach Bellinis. Everything I got, except for the Strawberry Fruittinis were imported from Germany. The Strawberries were imported from Italy.
This candy store is known for its exotic varieties of candy. Most of the candies found here are exclusively found at Sugarfina. As far as I know, there are only two stores (I could be wrong but I haven't found any other locations).
I thought the Champagne Bears were really good. Although they have a slight taste of Champagne, it's not overpowering. It's definitely a unique taste. I highly recommend trying them if you ever have the chance!
I really thought this place was unique and cool & I will definitely be going back. I was really impressed with this place. I mean, they don't call it the Tiffany's of candy for no reason. So, if you're ever in the Beverly Hills or Glendale area, check out this place!

So, I’ve talked about Milk before but i decided to dedicate an entire post to this place. This is hands down my favorite go to dessert place in LA! After reading this post, you’ll be able to see why.
Milk is located on Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles. It’s near the Beverly Center and other streets such as Melrose. It’s on the corner and will definitely catch your eye.
If you’ve ever watched The Hills, you might have seen Lauren Conrad and her friends visit this place for some sweets. I knew about this place but I never visited it until last year. Honestly, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
This place is pretty inexpensive and everything is absolutely delicious! They’re famous for their Thai Tea Ice Cream & Blue Velvet Cake. I know that blue velvet cake sounds weird but trust me, it’s delicious.
They also have pre-made ice cream sandwiches. They use macarons as the “bread”, which is pretty unique. You can order the ones they already have made or you can choose your own!
They also have different cupcakes such as red velvet but they also have this cute little thing called “Cupcake in a Cone”. They make it look like it’s a little sundae in an ice cream cone but it’s actually a cupcake. If you’ve really got a sweet tooth, I recommend you trying this!
Another thing I recommend trying are their cookies. They’re huge & super soft. They always taste fresh! Their Snickerdoodles & Chocolate Chip cookies are honestly the best!
Milk is honestly such a great place with great food at an affordable price! So, if you’re ever in the area & craving something sweet, head to Milk!

Disposable cameras are a great way to capture some memories because they're super inexpensive and you can get them practically everywhere. Now, I know that disposable cameras might not produce the coolest pictures, but here's a couple ways you can experiment with a disposable camera and who knows, you might end up with a couple Instagram worthy shots.
Submerge your camera! These pictures were taken with a disposable camera that was dropped in a pool before being used. Try submerging your camera in a bunch of different liquids to see what happens! Just make sure the film is dry before you take it to get developed.
Put your camera in the freezer for a while! It'll make your pictures look foggy.
Try heating your camera up! High heat will make your film look softer and you might get some light leaks.
Create light leaks! Use a thumb tack or a small nail to punch holes into the camera. Make sure you start off small or else you might completely ruin your pictures.
Damage your lens! Try melting your camera's lens! You could also try scrubbing your lens with some steel wool or sandpaper.
Take some double exposures! Charge your camera's flash and smack your camera on the palm of your hand. The camera's flash should go off and you'll have a super cool double exposure
Create your own filters! Try covering your camera's lens or flash with materials like colored cellophane and transparent candy wrappers.
If you're looking for more inspiration try looking at these two flickr groups. Both are full of pictures taken on damaged disposable cameras. If you try any of these tricks, let us know how it turns out!

Summer is just around the corner and as the temperature goes up it's hard to keep your makeup from sweating off your face. Here's a couple makeup products that are perfect for the warmer months.
In the summer months, creme eyeshadows are a must! They're super low maintenance and they're perfect to give a wash of color on your lids.
Once the weather warms up, I skip powder blushes completely and start using cheek stains! They last longer than powder blushes and a lot of times they look more natural. Also, you can use them as a lip stain, too!
Wearing foundation in the summer is such a pain so I recommend using a tinted moisturizer! They have SPF and just enough coverage to keep your skin looking great. If you have a heard time finding the perfect shade, take a drop of your favorite foundation and add a drop of your favorite moisturizer and mix it together and apply it like you would a foundation!
If you're planning on wearing a cat eye this summer, waterproof liquid liner is a must! Stila has a great waterproof liner that I definitely recommend.
If you're as obsessed with filling in your eyebrows as I am, I recommend picking up a waterproof eyebrow gel. You don't want to jump into the pool with eyebrows and come out without them! Makeup Forever has a great waterproof brow gel that comes in a bunch of different shades.
This one's pretty obvious, but you definitely can't forget waterproof mascara! As much as it is a pain to get off, it's definitely worth not getting raccoon eyes the second you jump into a pool.
What are some of your favorite summer-proof makeup items? We'd love to hear them! If there's any other topics you'd like for us to talk about, let us know!

Do you have a website? or just a tumblr? i think your mag is great so far and i love reading everything you all publish and i find you all inspiring xxx
right now all we have is a tumblr, but thank you so much!!
Let me start off by saying that I read TFIOS when it first came out and I loved it. I devoured the book and at the end it felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest. When I found out that it was being made into a movie I was a little apprehensive because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.
After I read the book, I kinda forgot about it to be honest. I was always reminded of it thanks to my tumblr dash, but I never really thought about it much once I finished the book. As the movies release date came closer and teaser trailers were being played constantly on television I became really apprehensive about seeing it in the theater (mostly because Shailene Woodley’s acting bothers me and I never realized how cringey Augustus Waters was until I saw someone, in real life, saying what he said).
The Thursday before the movie came out, my mom asked my sister and I if we would want to go see it that night and we both said yes so we headed to the movie theaters at nine at night and got our tickets. We sat down and everything was fine until everyone in the theater started screaming the moment the movie started. At that point I immediately regretted my decision to see the movie, but for the next hour and a half or however long the film was I sat there and watched one of my favorite books from high school being brought to life on screen.
After the movie was over, I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. It stayed very true to the book and it was literally everything I thought it would be. Even though I usually don’t like Shailene Woodley, I thought she portrayed Hazel Grace extremely well. Overall the cast was great and the movie itself was great. If you read the book, I’m sure you don’t need this review to convince you to see the movie, but to those of you who didn’t I really believe that this movie is worth watching.
What are your thoughts on TFIOS? We’d love to hear them!

For this week’s installment of Get The Look, I decided to recreate two outfits from one of my favorite movies: Reality Bites.
The first outfit is for Lelaina and the second is for Vickie. Both characters embody two totally different, but equally cool styles from the nineties. Lelaina’s style is very relaxed and a little preppy, whereas Vickie takes a lot of inspiration from retro styles.
For Lelaina’s outfit I went with a patterned maxi skirt and a turtleneck crop top. I paired that with a backpack to carry all your stuff in, some platform loafers (which I am completely obsessed with), and some preppy shades.
For Vickie’s outfit I grabbed this basic dress that I thought would be perfect for Vickie. I paired the dress with some orange opaque tights and some fisherman sandals which are totally nineties. To top it off I added these super cool blue shades that I love.
What do you think about these outfits? Are there any characters you’d like for us to do a Get The Look segment on? Let us know in our ask box!

this blog is amazing 👌
omg thank you!!
For the past couple weeks I've been wanting to see Palo Alto in the theaters, but none of the theaters near my house are showing it. The other day I was at Barnes and Noble and I found James Franco's Palo Alto on the shelf so I decided to pick it up and I finished the entire book that same day.
Palo Alto is a collection of stories that take place in (you guessed it) Palo Alto, California. All of the stories focus on a group of high school students and their lives. The topics covered in the stories are things that most high school aged people encounter like sex, drugs, and alcohol. All of the stories are connected and they all involve the same characters.
Franco's voice was unlike any other I had read and his writing style was very raw. He perfectly captured the feelings that many adolescents face. Every story is narrated by a different person, yet they're all written in the same style which, I think, says a lot about adolescents.
Now, I read the book a couple days ago and I'm still not completely sure how I feel about it. I thought that all of the stories were very interesting, especially "April: A Story in Three Parts" and I would definitely recommend this book to others who are dealing with the woes of adolescence, but I feel like this book will be very polarizing.
Have you read "Palo Alto"? Let us know what you think!

So, it's no secret that Kylie Jenner has been rocking a very bold blue ombre lately. I've been dying my hair for the past ten years (yes, ten years) & I've gone through a bunch of crazy colors, myself. I've suddenly gotten the urge to dip dye my hair blue & see what it turned out like. Continue reading to see how you can achieve Kylie Jenner's blue ombre hair!
What you'll need:
1. Blue powder based bleach
2. Creme developer
3. Gloves
4. A bowl to mix everything in
5. Ion Brilliance Sky Blue hair dye (I also used the Aqua hair dye to give the ombre volume & dimension)
Steps:
1. Bleach your hair.
To achieve this look, you will need to bleach your hair. I know this damages your hair but there are plenty of ways to nourish your hair after. You can find a bunch of tutorials on how to bleach your hair on youtube! Make sure your hair is as light as you can get it. The lighter your hair is, the more the hair dye will show up. *note: if your hair is naturally dark, the bleach will make your hair either orange or red. You will have to bleach your hair multiple times. I suggest to go see professionals if you've never bleached your hair before*
2. Put on gloves & an old t shirt you don't mind getting dirty.
The dye bleach & dye will stain your hands/clothes so it's best if you protect them ahead of time.
3. Put the blue hair dye on the desired parts of your hair.
If you want to go for an ombre look, make sure to spread the dye out in a natural-looking way. Try not to put the dye on straight across your hair because it'll create a straight line across your hair & it'll look awkward. Leave the hair dye on for as long as you want. The longer it's left on, the more vibrant the color will be.
4. Rinse out the dye!
Ta da! You're done! Rinse out all the hair dye & blow dry your hair. Take a pic & show us if you try this out!

Okay, let me be the first to say that I know it's kinda lame, but I love making friendship bracelets. I love going to the craft store and picking out a bunch of different colors of embroidery floss and finding a cool pattern online and sitting down and making a bracelet (no matter how tedious it gets). I love being able to wear a cool bracelet that I made myself and it feels great when someone complements it.
Summer is the perfect time to sit around and make bracelets so I hope that you'll at least try to make a friendship bracelet! Here is one of my favorite places to find friendship bracelet patterns to make. Get together with some of your friends whenever your bored and make some bracelets!
If you do end up making some friendship bracelets, we'd love to see them! Submit us a picture! If there's any other summer related topics you'd like for us to write about, let us know in our ask box.

For this week's installment of "Get the Look" I decided to recreate a look based on one of my favorite movie characters: Brandy from "The To Do List". The film takes place in the nineties and Brandy's style is totally rad. Keep reading to figure out how I recreated Brandy's look!
I think the focus of this outfit is definitely the shorts. Their high waisted fit and funky pattern makes them look really retro. I paired the shorts with a plain white cropped polo to keep the outfit looking clean. For shoes I went with white Keds which were a staple for most in the nineties. I paired those with some frilly socks because I just love the way that they look. For accessories I went with a double wrap Swatch. Swatch watches were huge in the nineties and I love the way that this one looks. I have one and I wear it every day! Of course, this outfit wouldn't be complete without a scrunchy so feel free to throw one on!
How do you feel about Brandy's nineties style? We'd love to know, just shoot us a message! Are there any other television or film characters that you'd like for us to feature in our "Get the Look" series? Let us know in our ask box or submit us a picture of your character with the tag "get the look" and we'll be sure to post our outfit ASAP!
Alexis
I don't know why but I've always had a problem with being "too nice" to some guys. They take my friendliness for flirting & then they think that they actually have a chance of getting into my pants.
I don't know why guys think that if they just say a few nice things to me I'm obligated of doing something for them in return. I've had a few guys that just would not get the hint until I literally told them "I'm sorry, but I'm just not interested in you"
Even after, some of the guys still pursue. I don't know why & I will never really understand it.
Just because someone is nice to you does not mean you are obligated to do anything for/to them. I've literally had guys ask me for a blow job or sex just because they said they were treating me so "nicely". They thought that since I've had sex before, I would have sex with them.
What they didn't understand was: just because I enjoy having sex, it did not mean I was going to have sex with them.
Especially with what just happened at UCSB, more and more women are getting scared of guys & how they'll react if they get rejected. I'm not saying every single guy is going to all of the sudden kill you just because you said no because that's not the case & I completely understand.
What I'm saying is, it is completely okay to not be attracted/interested in someone. Just because someone is being a decent human being & is being nice to you does not mean you owe them anything. Yes, I think you should be nice in return but that's all. You don't owe them any sexual favors whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with not dating someone because you are not physically attracted to them.

Current Craze: Phin & Phebes
Written by Kira
Find me elsewhere 1 2
As an ice cream enthusiast myself, I am always thrilled to find quality creameries, and this one seems to be on the up-and-coming. I have spent many west-coast hours distressing over the fact that I cannot purchase this delicacy anywhere even remotely nearby. Phin & Phebes, a Brooklyn based company, only delivers to the Northeast and Southeast, predominantly in NYC. This is an improvement though, as when I first found their website, delivery routes did not extend beyond the surrounding states. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that these frozen delights are sold, I suggest finding the most convenient shoppe and going down to pick up a pint immediately!
Ben and Jerry’s may have a wide selection but the quality cannot possibly be as good. Phin & Phebe’s may only have seven flavours but that can only mean that each has been crafted to perfection. The selection is made up of the following: Banana Whama-- a banana pudding ice cream with vanilla wafers, Coconut Key Lime-- coconut key lime ice cream with graham cracker chunks, Ginger Cookie Snap-- ginger Ice cream with ginger cookies and lemon icing filling, Vanilla cinnamon-- which is self-explanatory, Vietnamese Iced Coffee-- also self-explanatory, Dark Chocolate Salty Caramel-- dark chocolate ice cream with salty caramel, and finally, Peanutty Pretzel-- peanut butter ice cream with chocolate covered pretzels. Not only do the flavours themselves impress the consumer but so do the ingredients. Hormone free milk and absolutely free of stabilizers-- it’s like music to my ears. Not to mention that the vanilla wafers in Banana Whama are handmade. This company is an all-round winner!
While Phin & Phebes flavours are fabulous, their backstory doesn't disappoint either; Jess Eddy and Christa Freeman started the ice cream company as another of their many projects just six months into their relationship. Their first concoction was inspired by the fluffernutter sandwich, a childhood favourite for many of us. Jess and Christa then spent the next few months brainstorming up scrumptious flavours in the kitchen of their own home. While many of the flavour ideas made it into the carton a few of the ones that didn’t include Goat Cheese Caramel and Maple Bacon Pecan. Christa, a former art student, enjoyed accompanying these brainstormed flavours with illustrations. After their debut at the Brooklyn Lyceum Fair, a food arts fair, and by 2010 started selling their ice cream in stores. Jess and Christa were soon able to quit their day jobs (in 2011) and by the summer of 2013 over 140 stores carried their product.
Phin and Phebes Website is here.
