      face was buried in the soft dunes of her pillow, an arm propped underneath it and a leg hitched up in a reversed starfish. she barely managed to pry her eyes open, a thumping headache hitting her immediately with no forewarning—was it courtesy of that rod she'd been knocked over the head with, or the shots she'd downed to knock it out later that night? rachel wasn't sure, but that was the least of her problems right now.
