No, this isn’t a scene from Iron Man, and it’s totally legit.

It’s a different form of DJing—it’s a completely new art form. There’s only so much you can do with a turntable. Now what we use are Pioneer CDJs, and the mixer, and that allows you to do things you couldn’t fathom ten years ago. That also means you don’t have to put a record on, put another one on, match the BPM, and blend them to DJ. The whole point of it used to be to not make the music stop and now the range is much larger. It’s like the introduction of oil paint. Before it was all flat, and then you could paint depth. In a lot of ways, that piece of technology is really crucial to what the sound is and what it means and how you’re playing. That’s everything. It’s all about that relationship.

The last time I got a delicious potato by Bixel was in it's former location, Mulackstrasse. Problems with the landlord caused the closing of the restaurant. Nowadays Bixel organizes from time to time pop-up appearances. Upcoming: March 24 -29, at 'Club der polnischen Versager'.

"One of the most amazing sights was flying out of England to the north of Russia to have a look at things up there. If you did that, it was a pretty long run. We'd refuel twice just to get up there. You would get a couple of sunsets and sunrises, because at those northern latitudes often you would see day to night, and then a terminator line, almost like a black velvet curtain where you can see how it's light on this side, and dark on the other side. It's the most amazing thing you can imagine to see that."
