Being an advocate for any Hymenopteran that isn't a honeybee is so exhausting. I saw someone post a picture of a queen Vespa crabro on Reddit, and to my dismay, I saw a comment stating to "kill every one because they kill honeybees which are vital to the ecosystem." I tried to politely educate them, but these situations often seem futile, as they retaliated with a very rude and ignorant comment. Someone else agreed with me, to which I replied and said that honeybees compete with native pollinators, and can spread diseases to native bees and wasps as well. I also defended wasps and native pollinators because they are more crucial to the ecosystem. For some reason that comment got downvoted. I just find it amazing how so many people are uneducated when it comes to nature in general, but especially towards wasps and other Hymenopterans. It's definitely an uphill battle, and quite discouraging. I couldn't just ignore that comment however, since it was totally misinformed, and I felt it was necessary to provide some education, even if it fell on deaf ears. It will be so refreshing to see the day where someone posts a photo of a wasp and the general consensus isn't to immediately eradicate it. I'm so tired.
Reblogging with one of my favourite non-honeybee hymenopterans:
The bicoloured striped sweat bee, Agapostemon virescens.
I wish I had a picture of a cool wasp, but alas I must ask that anyone that sees this continues the chain with perhaps a cool wasp. They exist!!! I know they do!!! I have seen them!!!

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

Pieck deserves two boyfriends and I want them to be Reiner and Jean
One thing im uncomfortably woke about is bugs. And im actively trying to get more uncomfortably woke. By this i mean i DO believe the normalised fear of bugs stems from both government and business propaganda. The start of household pesticide sales coinciding with the boom in insect related horror movies. The promotion of anti intellectualism and anti enviromentalism. If you're scared of bugs, you wont care about saving them. If you dont care about saving them, you wont care about saving our home, since without bugs it cannot be saved. If you dont care about saving our home, the rich can do whatever they want with the chunks of it they continue to destroy.
I WILL calmly and kindly try to help anyone who is afraid of bugs. I will show them my finds, i will explain their importance, i will tell them just how sweet and gentle and friendly they are. And I WILL shoot down any immature loser who believes senseless killing is the only possible response to not liking something.
Get woke. Love bugs.
EDIT: this breached containment. My usual like count is like 5 😭 i want to clarify i mean people who conflate fear with hate are the ones who wont care about saving our planet, like people who threaten to kill peoples pet bugs or actively kill bugs outside for no apparent reason. Not people who run away from a bee.
They could never make me hate you Reiner Braun
