Not that anybody asked, but I think it's important to understand how shame and guilt actually work before you try to use it for good.
It's a necessary emotion. There are reasons we have it. It makes everything so. much. worse. when you use it wrong.
Shame and guilt are DE-motivators. They are meant to stop behavior, not promote it. You cannot, ever, in any meaningful way, guilt someone into doing good. You can only shame them into not doing bad.
Let's say you're a parent and your kid is having issues.
Swearing in class? Shame could work. You want them to stop it. Keep it in proportion*, and it might help. *(KEEP IT IN PROPORTION!!!)
Not doing their homework? NO! STOP! NO NOT DO THAT! EVER! EVER! EVER! You want them to start to do their homework. Shaming them will have to opposite effect! You have demotivated them! They will double down on NOT doing it. Not because they are being oppositional, but because that's what shame does!
You can't guilt people into building better habits, being more successful, or getting more involved. That requires encouragement. You need to motivate for that stuff!
If you want it in a simple phrase:
You can shame someone out of being a bad person, but you can't shame them into being a good person.

Guilt and shame are NOT the same emotion!
Theyre very similar, but theres a key difference. Guilt comes from an internal source and shame external.
What do I mean? Well, when you feel guilt, its because you've betrayed your own morals. Youve done something you view as bad, and you feel guilty for defying your own moral code.
Shame, however, is external and comes from our individual societies, and has nothing to do with moral codes (in the way guilt does). Shame comes from how OTHERS perceive you. You go to school, and wet yourself, you feel shame because the other kids point and laugh, they think less of you now. You may know it was an accident, and accidents happen, and thats okay! But because other people now think less of you for it, you feel bad.
Not taking away the points of OP, i still agree, just think it might be useful to distinguish between the two emotions because they are not the same.

People are insane for defending labgerm. I so rarely ever actually talk about stuff like this but good god how are people defending labgerm? I don't give a shit if plecos are invasive in some places. I believe labgerm intentionally tank breeds them for the purpose of those videos, too. If you can watch something like that and find it funny and not disturbing, then you need serious help. What he's doing can't even be called culling. It isn't humane and it certainly isn't for any greater good. The guy is using hardware to bolt living creatures together, he's injecting different animal semen into them, force filling them with fiberglass, injecting other living creatures (tadpoles) inside of them, and WORSE things.
How the fuck can people go "they're invasive it's not like it matters" ? First of all it does matter because they're living creatures who feel pain. This isn't a pile of invasive eggs you're crushing it isn't a swift end. It's prolonged torture. This is something he is doing for fun, he thinks making these animals suffer is fun. And people are making God damn anime girl designs based on his torture?????? And being like "why are y'all so mad you want him to go to prison? It's just a fish..." Okay so again, living animal. Living animal. Then let's talk about the people in his comments saying the pleco videos are getting boring and he should start doing these things to larger animals like cats, dogs, and rabbits? Something that deeply unnerves me, and likely a lot of my audience too, is how often people bring up the fact that Gooseworx is a trans woman, as if that somehow excuses her behaviors recently with the "nega" jokes and her old, frankly disturbing, tweets.
Marginalized identity is not a shield against accountability. She is still a white person, and being queer does not exempt anyone from perpetuating anti-black racism. This situation alone shows a desperate need for a BASIC understanding of intersectionality.
Being a woman does not erase her white privilege. Being a trans woman does not exempt her from anti-black behavior. Neither is calling those things out misogynist or transphobic.
And even if she weren't white, like the friends she was laughing with, identity defenses still fail: being a POC person doesn't erase anti-blackness when you are not a Black person. Non-black POC people can, and absolutely do, perpetuate anti-black racism.

💔 My Mother’s Life Depends on Your Kindness
My mother is in Gaza, where every day is a struggle to survive. Some time ago, she was injured when shrapnel from nearby shelling struck her back. She tried to endure the pain for as long as she could, but now her condition has become critical.
She has now been admitted to the hospital, and her condition is very serious. She is suffering from unbearable back pain, extreme exhaustion, and every passing day brings more suffering. Watching my mother fight through this pain while I can do so little is heartbreaking.
The doctors told us that she urgently needs emergency back surgery. They warned us that the operation must be performed within the next 6 days to prevent her condition from deteriorating further.
The cost of this life-saving surgery is $1,000.
Thanks to the incredible kindness of compassionate people, we have raised $292 so far ($188 from our previous appeal and $104 from our latest one). We are deeply grateful for every donation.

"Isn't She Lovely" is very explicitly a song about Black joy, specifically the joy of Black parenthood. Stevie Wonder's first daughter, whose birth the song is about, is named Aisha, which means "life" and "prosperity". If you need the evidence any clearer, the opening of the song features a newborn's cries, and in the extended version there's a long instrumental section over audio of Stevie giving Aisha a bath.
It doesn't surprise me that "Isn't She Lovely" was used as a coming-out allegory— transitioning can definitely feel like a sort of rebirth— but it saddens me that it was at the expense of the song's Black core. Considering Goose and her track record, this was likely a fully conscious decision and not simply an ignorant misstep.

My dreams of becoming a writer and reaching fame through the internet could go to shit if the KOSA law passes. Sure, I am not from the USA nor the UK, but it will expand to my country eventually
Also, there are people with dreams like mine, people whose lives and jobs rely on the internet, and they could go to shit too because the goverment wanted to pretend to be a babysitter
Not just that, our privacy is at risk. Not mine, not yours, OURS. This has been said and repeated multiple times, but they're not trying to protect the children. They're trying to spy on every single one of us. You could always quit using the internet and wait until the KOSA law is removed, but some people can't live without the internet, and you KNOW what this can lead to
