Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) dir. Thomas Vinterberg
We’re four misfits who don’t belong together, we’re playing to the other misfits. They’re the outcasts, right at the back of the room. We’re pretty sure they don’t belong either. We Belong to them.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I’m very fond of walking. Yes, yes, I know.
one aesthetic detail I really like about battlestar galactica is something it has in common with the star wars original trilogy. stuff is old! it’s not just the battlestar, but from the start galactica is very much old and worn down! even in the canon’s own timeline, galactica is an old ship of the line, a relic from the first cylon war from the very start of the show: “this ship, the last of her kind still in service, was constructed over fifty years ago in the early days of the cylon war”.
and stuff in the show is not old because society isn’t making new stuff; it’s old because galactica is the only battlestar that makes it out with the civilians, and galactica was supposed to be retired into a museum the day the cylons attacked. so even though stuff starts to break down in other ships and show its wear and tear with ~50,000 people using it continually with no relief, galactica starts out old. even her viper contingent is old, a relic set of mark ii’s that were also the only ones to survive the cylon attack that day.
because stuff is old, it does break down (poor chief tyrol and those damn gimbals) and cause plot things to happen, but it’s also well lived in, it looks real and not shiny and new (in contrast to the cylon base stars). you can pick up the sense of history from its crew and the space (space!) they live in. it’s also just kind of aesthetically cool to have a lot of analog comm systems and actual phones in space instead of fancy gadgets, and the fact that there’s no way to just magically replicate stuff is both a useful plot point and a way to communicate the reality of the crisis they’re living in. also I do love the general set design of the CIC.
I just love galactica and everything about its feel and how the set design and props really do tell their own story.
yo what are you always so stressed about?
me:
I will never not reblog this
You must know… surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I’d scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. May the force be with you, Princess.

THIS IS THE PUN OF ALL PUNS EVERYBODY CAN GO HOME NOW
Sometimes all of my good fortune makes me wonder whether I’m actually appreciating it enough. And if I’m honest, I have to admit that no, I’m not sure I am. Which then makes me think that there must be some flaw in my personality on my brain chemistry, which means I just have to get used to the fact that no matter what happens, I’m never going to be a person who can ever just… be happy.
