as if it's a habit, he moves his hands from your face to your neck, then back to your face, before resting his hand on your waist. the two of you go silent, the gesture speaking volume.

you glance around the bonfire, your eyes landing on seonghyeon. you'd managed to snag the seat next to him, only for him to move near areum when he picked a cue card.
you lean down to his ear, "let's go to paradise together," and with that you pull away, giving him a small smile and heading back to your seat.
📍POST-BONFIRE INTERVIEW SEONGHYEON
where do you stand with areum now?
"i....she was my first choice, obviously," seonghyeon sighs, "but after the bonfire i can't be so sure,"
why is that?
"well i mean she was telling me one thing during our first paradise date, but then her actions are the complete opposite. i can't help but be a bit skeptical. and when i also asked her to talk she ditched as soon as sungchan asked for her,"

you hum, content. the pool's incredibly large, especially for just two people. two glasses of wine and a plate of fruit sit abandoned at the side of the pool. seonghyeon is opposite to you in the vast pool.
"yn,"
you look up.
"hm?" you ask, stirring the water around. you watch him. even if you hated to admit it, seonghyeon was hard to read. did he like you? did he not?
"what're you thinking about?" he calls. you hesitate.
"whether or not you're really into me," you watch him blink, surprised at the honesty. you immediately become grateful for the size of the pool, keeping the two of you separated. you pause before speaking. "how about you? what're you thinking?"
he continues to stare, before he laughs, running a hand through his hair.

the cameras zoom into keonho.
his face is one of focus, his eyes never leaving the scene in front of him: you and eunseok, partnered up, taking photos together. it wouldn't have been a big deal, but the close proximity makes his face sour.
"...keonho...dude....control your face," another male contestant, jungwon, whispers, amused. he laughs at the younger boys face.
"why should i? i'm not happy about it,"

the entire panel laughs at the scene in front of them: keonho's brows furrowed, lips downturned and eyes narrowed.

📍STEAL THE BALL GAME
you watch nervously as keonho faces off against sungho. as soon as the whistle goes off, the two rush towards the ball in the middle, tackling each other in the process.
water splashes everywhere, and you move back as they move closer to the edge of the pool. and secretly in your mind, you're hoping that he'll lose so that he doesn't hurt himself.
by some miracle, keonho grabs onto the ball in the last few seconds, holding on tightly even as sungho tosses him around (ouch). when the bell rings, signaling the end of the round, you let out a breath.
"you okay?" yunjin asks from next to you, "you look...stre-"
"didya see that yn?" keonho calls, dripping wet. he bounds over to you, smile on his face, "i won, i told you i would,"
you can only blink at him before sighing.
"good job keonho, you did well,"
his smile is enough to lift all previous worry you had, and thanks to his efforts the two of you got a fried chicken date.
📍SEASON REUION
the camera zooms in on keonho's sour face, and the entire room bursts into laughter. you glance over at keonho, who, despite the red flush on his cheeks, still has a small smile.
"oh my god," you gasp, " you look like someone just cursed your bloodline,"
eunseok, your photoshoot partner and the target of keonho's side eye, leans over patting him on the shoulder.
"don't worry little bro, she's all yours,"
keonho huffs, but at the sight of you keeled over with laughter, he can't help but smile.

you’re in love with james.
there’s no question about it. your heart knew it way before your mind would admit it, but his handsome face, gentlemanly manners, and sweet voice were enough to drive any girl crazy.
on the down side, however, he seemed to have no intention of answering the question that’d been buzzing in your head for the past few weeks.
what are we?
you swore every time the conversation topic shifted remotely close to defining labels or talking about your relationship, he’d shut off and completely avoid the subject.
like last friday, when the two of you had gone to your favorite diner for dinner. a middle-aged waitress had walked up to your table to take your order.
“what a lovely couple you two are.” she’d smiled at the two of you good-naturedly as she was leaving.
your eyes had flicked to james, watching the way he’d immediately tensed, face reddening. “oh no—we’re not…it’s not anything like that.”
or on sunday, when the two of you were calling. you’d purposefully mentioned a guy in your class that’s been hitting on you lately just to see how james would react.
“so…um, are you guys like, dating now?” he’d asked through the phone
“nah.” you answered, playfully adding, “why? you jealous?”
“no…just wondering.”
and that was that. no more offers of continuing the topic.
maybe you would’ve been fine with this, but it wasn’t just his denial either. he spent half of his time acting as if he were your boyfriend, but never outright talking to you about it.
like last week, when you’d accidentally dozed off while reviewing for an exam together, you’d woken up with his hoodie on you and your head on his lap.
he’d simply smiled at you, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, unknowing of how your heart pounded wildly in your chest.
or the time when he’d sent you a lengthy paragraph over text comforting you when you’d mentioned to him about how tired you were, because he “thought you needed comfort”.
you could probably go on all day remembering situations just like these…but all in all?
it was driving you nuts.
so today, you’d decided that you’d had enough.
you were going to confront him. you had it all planned out in your head already. you’d find him after school went out for the day, ask to talk, and tell him exactly how you felt. then…you didn’t really want to think about the aftermath of that conversation.
but for some reason you could not explain, when you caught up to him by the lockers after school, calling out his name, the moment he turned around and the two of you locked eyes, your mind went completely blank.
you stood there for a good moment, just staring at each other as if in a trance, before james spoke first. “hey, what’s up yn?”
you snapped out of your daze, quickly remembering what you were here for. “james, i want to talk.”
he closed his locker shut before turning back to you. “sure. about what?”
“um…could we go somewhere more private?”
“oh yeah, sure.” he agreed readily, slinging his backpack on as he led the way, arm wrapping around you naturally to rest his hand over your shoulder.
before long, the two of you arrived before the wooden door leading to the school garden.
james held the door open for you as you stepped in, heart beating rapidly.
the two of you stopped next to a neatly planted row of white roses. you looked down, staring at the flowers absentmindedly.
“so…what did you wanna talk to me about?” you heard james ask.
you took a deep breath to prepare your next words, trying to reremember everything you wanted to say in your head.
“um…okay, i’m just gonna say it. so first of all, i like you—like, really like you.”
he opened his mouth as if to say something, but you cut him off. “hold that thought, okay? i still need to talk about this, because you keep sending me mixed signals. one moment you act like you’re my boyfriend, but then deny it when anyone asks if we’re a thing. i just need you to tell me one thing honestly: do you like me or not, james?.”
there’s a brief silence where the tension in the atmosphere peaks. you stare at him, waiting for an answer, heart wishing on all the universes that this conversation goes the way you’d hoped it would.
“yn, i…actually—” he starts, then stops, as if gathering his thoughts, before trying again. “sorry, it’s just—you don’t know how many months i’ve been thinking about the same thing. to be honest with you, i’ve been totally head over heels for you since we met. like, i reread your texts five times before i can reply, and i overanalyze your every reaction to me because i swear i always thought you only saw me as a friend and it’s been bothering me for a long time. but i guess just ‘cause i thought you might not feel the same way…i acted a bit distant. i’m really sorry if it’s caused you any pain or confusion but i promise i’m serious about you and i really like you too and i just didn’t want to ruin everything and…gosh now i feel so dumb and stupid for not realizing it sooner—”
he suddenly cuts himself off, going quiet and avoiding your eyes, choosing to stare at the roses instead.
your pulse races as you process this information. you secretly pinch yourself just to check whether you’re dreaming or not, but wince as you do. definitely not dreaming. before you can even try to find the right words, you find yourself blurting out, “so like, um…what are we now?”
james finally looks at you. his face appears flushed but his gaze as he watches you is tender nevertheless.
you notice him swallow before opening his mouth, as if wanting to project his next words a bit. “well…would you be my girlfriend, yn?”
your face heats up involuntarily. you nod, not trusting your own voice.
the wind picks up suddenly, and the faint breeze wafts the aroma of spring and roses into your presence.
james smiles. it’s his signature smile, the one you especially love.
he takes a step forward, and tentatively moves your hair out of your face. you answer the unspoken question in his eyes with a small nod, and in the middle of spring, roses, and first love in the school garden, zhao yufan presses his lips to yours.

last movie: rewatched spirited away!! a new movie tho would be turtles can fly (2004) and that... it was on my list for years but i finally got around to it a couple months ago (i know it's not recent but it's the most recent film i have watched lol uni and work has been ahh) and it stayed with me for a long, long while especially because of how wars have not stopped since and children continue to suffer under the tyranny of evil monsters calling themselves righteous
last series: rewatched some eps of bbc sherlock (my ride or die truly) but a new series i have started is idol i!! and!! it's saur!! good?? was not expecting to enjoy it as much as i have and am currently on ep 9 i think

james sat sprawled out on the couch, hands clasped together as he rested his elbows on his knees. his gaze followed your form each time you came out of your bedroom in a new outfit — letting out an occasional low whistle. he had been ready an hour, against his will, but he had it so bad for you that he'd let you drag him into doing anything. you'd managed to convince him to be your plus one to this social work event you had tonight, but big problem.. he despised your coworkers. he had muttered "you're lucky i love you," too many times over the past hour, yet internally he was happy everyone there would get to see that you were his.
juhoon :
juhoon trailed behind you as you flicked through all the different clothing racks. he kept once finger hooked around the belt loop of your jeans to keep you close. normally, he would've loved to come out shopping with you but he had practically spent the whole previous night training and just wanted to sleep — he didn't have the guts to tell you though as he knew you loved shopping. "mm, you'd look pretty in that," he'd mumble occasionally, resting his chin on your shoulder from behind. as you tried on pieces you noticed his dull eyes and droopy posture. "you okay?" "yeah baby," he lied straight through his teeth. "give me a spin."
martin :
martin was stressed. he had slept through his alarm, had an awful day full of schedules and literally had anything else that can happen to ruin someone's day happen to him. his shoes dug into the rocky gravel below him as he kicked tiny stones, occasionally tripping slightly when his foot hit a bad angle. with his head hung low, he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings until he heard a voice — your voice. "martin?" his head snapped up and his whole dull mood instantly brightened. he didn't like to be upset around you. he believed his girl should be surrounded by only happiness. "didn't think I'd see you," he grinned as his arms snaked around your waist. "best day ever," he mumbled against your temple.
seonghyeon :
seonghyeon bit back his grin as he leant back in his chair, watching you eat. "you're so pretty." "hm?" your head snapped up mid bite. he just hummed and rested his head on his palm. "you look like a creep," you scoff at him. "eat your food or i will." your hand had already reached out mid sentence to snatch some food off of his plate. seonghyeon sat up and lightly slammed his palms off the table. "the disrespect is next level," he whined before attempting to grab it back. despite his supposedly 'high effort' attemps he couldn't care less if you stole some of his food. he liked seeing you happy and if his food ensured that.. well, that's a price he'll always be willing to pay.
keonho :
keonho's first instinct as you walked into the room was to blurt out "is that my hoodie?" he bit it back though because on second, and much deeper thought, he realized that you're in his hoodie. you're in his freaking hoodie. if that's not a top 10 boyfriend moment, then he thinks he needs a word with whoever makes these lists. keonho had been looking for this hoodie for weeks, and he had been accusing martin of stealing daily so.. oops! "cmere," he reached his hand out for you before tugging you down onto his bed next to him. "suits you, think you should wear it more often," he mumbles against your shoulder as he toys with the fabric.
