EDIT January 30, 2026: I really hate seeing posts about the United States of America on my dash. I have plenty of filtered tags, yet many still get onto my dash. Please, could you tag the posts about the USA appropriately so I wouldn't have to see them? Thank you.
EDIT July 20, 2024: Check out Vaati wandering in town here! (cosplay)
EDIT December 26, 2023: Check out my Vaati cosplay here!
EDIT August 23, 2023: I occasionally say things that may be viewed as hurtful or rude. However, I do so unintentionally, it is not my intention to spread negativity. I'm just trying to be funny, to be friendly, and I'm failing miserably. If you receive such a reblog/comment/tag from me, I apologize for my behaviour, I didn't want to offend you.

BLORBO LIST (as of May 7, 2026):
Vaati (The Legend of Zelda): the first and most ultimate, the trendsetter
Soooo. Earlier this month, I had a thought: "If humanity is dying, infrastructure is destroyed, how does the Alliance get its resources?" (which I might have had even earlier but only at this point I started thinking harder about it)
After all, they need to be getting the resources from somewhere, apart from stealing whatever works from Skibs/Astros on the battlefield. They need resources to continuously repair and upgrade both their Titans and regular units. They need the rss for weapons and armor.
And then it hit me. The missing link.
Salvager units.
My idea is that these guys are deployed to locations after the war moves away from there. They're there to salvage anything reusable, be it metal, plastic, electronics, in order to bring it back to Alliance bases where they can be processed and recycled.
They're deployed alongside Medics who search for survivors. Salvagers, as they rummage through all the wreckage Medics are not suited for, may expose those areas and find survivors. If the found Alliance units are non-functional, and Medics determine them as beyond saving, the Salvagers will scrap those bodies (after the identities of the fallen are registered and confirmed).
Salvagers use various instruments and tools to retrieve materials from old battlefields. They use multiple cutting blades to cut through metal, multimeters for electronics, or similar. The blades can be used as weapons in self-defense, in such a case that there're still Skibs/Astros hiding. They're equipped with thick gloves and durable boots. All Salvager units have mounted dual flashlights to secure visibility (and ensure visual identity). Salvager Cameramen wear jetpacks on their backs; Salvager Speakermen don't.
After stuff is collected, Salvager Large Speakers, who mostly function as haulers, carry these massive amounts of debris into vans or helicopters, or even containers to be teleported by the TV Men. Salvager Large Speakers have bright rotating floodlights on their shoulders, providing large-scale visibility for their smaller comrades.
The TV Men do not have their own Salvagers. The Cameras often lack large Salvager units.
The Salvagers are colloquially known as "Scavengers", but they hate the term because it assumes they just collect junk/trash—they don't. They're a vital part of the Alliance which makes sure the Alliance can survive and grow. Without Salvagers, there would be no resources.
Salvagers also do not repair stuff. They may have the tools to do it, but that's a job for Engineers. Instead, they use those tools for disassembly.
Mine's a straight up different "species" in the Alliance, with them being lights. They are referred to as Scavengers.
I have loved the idea of the Alliance gathering their supplies from previous battles and reusing what they can find. It definitely makes sense since the world went to shit.
The Salvager Unit being deployed with medics is really clever. Who knows what poor member may have been left behind in the field under the assumption of being dead.
Buzzsaws and other tools for gathering supplies definitely will come in handy for the job.
Also, I can see the Speakermen Salvagers breaking shit down with their heads via bass (I've considered my Scavengers being able to melt things with their lights to get through things).
I'm not suprised TVmen don't have their own Salvagers, considering they're already limited with one large variant, Polycephaly.
Ahhhhh this I was afraid of, that I'd accidentally copy somebody's idea 😭 Although I suppose it's only very logical to notice this gap and wanting to fill it lol It's fascinating to see how different people can come up with different solutions to the same problem!
Loving how both my Salvagers and your Scavengers have nicknames that others use but they don't prefer 😭
Crazy parallel with the lights. Your solution led to the creation of a light-based faction, whereas mine made me add extra flash-/floodlights to the units.
I'd be intrigued to see how these two groups would interact with each other. Sounds like they would make a fun crossover!
I wouldn't say you copied anyones idea. We both just happened to have similar ideas that we independently ran with, adding our own spins to it. The Salvagers are your idea, The Scavengers are my idea.
While I was developing The Scavengers and trying to figure out a name, I immediately clocked on the implications of calling them "Lightmen" and immediately went, "No.", lol. In universe, they're referred to as The Scavengers.
I'm gonna blame The Projectionist from Bendy and Ink Machine as well as my experience with filmmaking for how The Scavengers came to be lol.
While I am aware The Alliance have built in lights/night vision, I definitely agree that bigger lights are needed when searching for supplies and survivors.
Crossovers would definitely be fun (if I ever get to designing The Scavengers-).
I'm imagining a scenario in where my faction joined later and noticed that The Salvagers hated being called Scavengers, so they just went "Our name now."
Lowkey not helped that they do sometimes collect/use trash. I imagine they're sorta like Wall-E and sometimes pocket stuff they think is neat/good for an improv weapon.
The Large Cameramen and Scavengers could be lookouts while all 3 teams (including the medics) do their jobs. That way they can expand their grounds without worrying about stretching security too far.
ublock origin is pretty funny. oh? you want to show me an ad? damn buddy that sucks. L + ratio + assets.tumblr.com/pop/src/assets/images/house-rightrail-premium-with-patio-47ce20b6.gif$image into my filters immediately
