It's so sad to see how everyone has become a Boomer with respect to their relationship to technology. I remember when I was young, seeing everyone in my parents' generation with like 8 toolbar extensions filled with ads, wading through websites with a million advertising pop-ups, wondering how these people can live like this, and that's just... almost everyone, now.
So many people sitting here complaining about how much Windows 11 sucks. How much you hate Microsoft Word and Google Docs and whatever else, and yet you're completely unwilling to take your hand off the hot stove in exactly the same way as the Boomers were. Sincerely, how do you live like this?
I remember trying to explain to Boomers how to install an ad blocker, how to uninstall the toolbars that are making everything worse, and they'd just shut their brains down and go "I'm not smart with computers like you young people; it's all too new to me." It's people the same age as I was back then responding now with "I'm too stupid to figure this out lol" instead.
You'll complain about Copilot integration and ads baked in but won't follow any directions online to remove it. You'll whine that LibreOffice is unfamiliar and Linux is scary. And anyway, don't these people pitching Open Source know that you can't solve a systemic problem with individual solutions? After all, a true leftist knows it's better to flop onto your back and show your belly in helpless submission to whatever corporations give you because the alternative is teaching yourself a skill you weren't already taught in public school, and that's impossible for anyone who's neurodivergent. Frankly ableist of anyone to suggest otherwise!
Whenever someone tries posting information suggesting that you can, in fact, pull your hand away from the hot stove, the replies are filled with people like this. Also posters just helplessly begging some random stranger to come hold their hand and teach them personally. You have to know nobody is going to come sit next to you and gently walk you through all the steps of learning a new skill, right? It's an excuse for you to not do your own research, waiting for someone else to spoon-feed you because you're not invested enough in your happiness, so you're hoping someone else can just make up that deficit.
