Gran Canaria
Hi travelers.
In the second week of this, so far wonderful, year I have been on a business trip to Gran Canaria, Spain. I had some negotiations for a project we won on Tenerife but all suppliers we have on our short list are located on Gran Canaria.
Fly
My journey started with a ride to Hamburg and continued with a direct flight to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria conducted by Eurowings. I had enough time before boarding to check my mails and drink a coffee in the Lufthanse Business Class Lounge. The flight was smooth and easy but we had a little delay - always the same when you do business where other people are going for vacation. These (mostly elderly) tourists caused a delay on the return flight as well.
Eat
I visited three different restaurants and I found a really awesome store which sells sandwiches for lunch. Here we go.
La Bodega
We went there twice during the trip.
Pro: What can I say, they offer different kinds of steak and know how to prepare it. Next to meat you can also find a few good fish meals on the menu. They have a really nice wine bar too. The staff is always nice and
Con: The location ist not really inviting, but from the inside the restaurant is pretty good in shape. One thing that I realized because I ate the same dish two nights in a row. The quality is always good but the dishes vary from time to time.

B de Bellota - Jamones y embutidos
Pro: Jesus they have the best Ham on the Island. You can also buy some ham and take it home.
Con: This place it not made to spend much time and have a relaxing lunch break. But man the ham is awesome.

La Marinera
Pro: The location is directly at the sea and they have a huge open fridge with all kinds of fresh and local fish and sea food. I was able to try moraine
Con: The restaurant is really huge and very crowded most of the times. The restaurant is a little touristic and pricy.

Los Botes
Pro: The Restaurant is located close to the sea and it seems to be a family business. I mean it looks like it and it feels like it. The waitress was able to take our order without pen and paper and everything was delivered in time and hot. They offer local tapas and a lot of seafood. Go an try the smoked cheese with honey and walnuts it tastes amazing.
Con: The location is really nice but if you are located in Las Palmas you need either a car, go by taxi or be very strong by food.

Sleep
My company booked a room for me in the AC Hotel by Marriott Iberia Las Palmas. It was my second stay in this hotel and I really enjoy the mix of people staying there. Many people are staying for business reasons but you can tell that also a lot of guests are on vacation. The location is not the best if you are on vacation, since you are quit far away from la playa de las canteras which is the most popular beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Nevertheless you have some nice things to eat and to do if you are staying in that area.
The room is clean and if you’re lucky or book it you will have a room with a really nice ocean view. The staff is friendly and well dressed and always caring to make your stay as nice as possible. On the top level there is a roof top pool and a gym. The gym is not that well equipped but you can do your daily cardio training with a really amazing view.
I can definitely recommend this Hotel for a stay if you have to do business in Las Palmas but please be informed that it is a little hard to park your car.
