“I don’t suppose I have to tell you what you look like?” He instantly retorted, recovering from the momentary scare and standing to brush the dust off his clothes.

“And why would I want to shoot you, anyway? I thought you were dead. Now, if you were to give me a reason to shoot you, that would be a different story…” he gave her a reproachful look.

“Wouldn’t it?”

“I look fucking great considering this is the third bullet I’ve taken to the skull,” wiping more blood off her forehead, she groaned out quietly when he asked why he’d want to shoot her. Quite frankly it should be obvious; they were in the middle of nowhere, she was a stranger…need she say more? 

“Nah, not really,” standing up she visibly swayed before she turned to face him. Seven was still off balance, but her jaw was clenched as she kept herself positioned as defensively as possible, “it’d all be the same to me.”

“Look, I’ll cut you some slack, seeing how you seem to have had your bell rung pretty good. So I’m not going to fight you, get it?”

She had to be pretty confused, he thought, since there was no way he knew of that someone could survive one bullet to the skull, let alone three.

“Where are you going, anyway?” He asked. “Maybe I’m going the same way.”

Spotted from the sky, the woman appeared to be dead. Some would say that looting corpses was ghoulish, but to Jedediah this was misplaced sentimentality. Sure, it was sad to see someone dead and alone in the wasteland, but there was no sense in letting their few possessions rot with them.

Upon closer inspection, after he had landed the Airtruk nearby and gotten out to inspect the corpse, the woman appeared to be freshly dead. Very freshly dead. So freshly dead that she was still moving! He stumbled back, tripping and falling from his crouching position to a much less dignified sprawl in the dirt.

At first she didn’t seem to notice him, but when she finally turned and addressed him, he was utterly baffled by the words that came out of her mouth.

“Uh…” he paused to process her words but was at a loss. “What?”

“Christ, you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” reaching into her pocket, Seven pulled out a stained handkerchief before using it to dab at the weeping wound on her forehead. It hurt like hell and she had a headache that made her want to puke her guts out. Still, she had been fortunate enough to be hit where her skull had been replaced with some sorta metal. She didn’t remember what kind.

“It’s a simple question; were you gonna shoot me to?” Seven hoped the answer was no, she’s sick of getting shot at.

Sitting up and looking around, her dark eyes struggling to adjust to the barren wasteland that swirled before her eyes in a confusing display of vastness. Vague memories shuffled in her mind, disjointed pieces of a puzzle clacking about as they tried to fit together but never quite succeeding. 

All she remembered was the package: not where it was supposed to go nor what it was. Another wave of annoyance hit her when she realized that it was no longer there. A quiet scoff escapes the Courier as she reached up to scratch at her neck before her entire body stiffened, she certainly had not put on a collar willingly. Looking around, she found that she was mostly alone. 

How annoying, it would seem that getting kidnapped had become an unfortunate habit of Seven’s. At least she still had her hidden blade, the sheath pressed against her inner thigh as if pleading with her to not be forgotten. 

“Aye, you waiting for me to deliver your package or something? Maybe you wanna shoot me to?” the stranger beside her seemed mostly harmless, he lacked the stench of the truly filthy. Still, she’d be all too willingly to plunge the blade into his neck if need be.

Although it was admittedly beautiful, having so much hair didn’t seem to be such a good idea, at least not in Jed’s opinion. Managing it must be a nightmare, not to mention it was too easy for aggressive people to grab and hold onto.

“I know my opinion isn’t worth much,” He prefaced, sidling up to the stranger. “But if I had that much hair, I’d seriously consider selling it. You could probably get a lot for it, you know.”

Is there something wrong with my eyes? Every time I try to discern individual pieces of his costume I get really confused.

This is a tangent, but: I think what I love so much about this hideout is how much it reminds me of CA roadside attractions like the Desert Tower, Salton Sea etc...
