Young Cathy and Heathcliff find a half staved unconscious Jane Eyre on the moors and poked her with a stick to see if she's dead. She isn't roused by their proding and they don't care enough to try and help her so it isn't mentioned in either book.

Playing with a way to finish out our routine. We actually did the run-through to music today and had to cut some things out because we ran too long.
Actors and dancer people: how do you give yourself over?
Right now my movements throughout the routine are too willowy and flowy. I need to be more “broken doll” but I’m having trouble with feeing like I’m going to try and fall short and feel stupid. So I hold myself back. How do I just let go?
I find a good shake and a deep breath before demanding my insecurity stays at the door helps.
What’s popping, you ask? Why, it’s my joints.
Me after the aerial edge convention
Me trying open my shoulders for a back bend.
Today was another flying trapeze kind of day!! I learned the straddle whip and caught it! It was a full class today so there wasn't as much opportunity to catch as last time but I got to get extra practice goes while most of the class learned knee hangs on the low bar. And man, did I need those extra practice goes! So it all worked out in the end!! Thank you Gio, Wally and Georgia at Gorilla Circus for another great lesson!
First catch of the season!!

So I would attend this class.
So today I went to Miranda Menzies flexibility workshop. It's the third one I've been to and I always learn so much but today was especially exciting as I tried my first chinstand! Thanks to my partner in crime for the spot!
Can't believe how much a difference there is between my left and right side. Anyway, some progress towards mermaid pose. A long way to go, but hey ho.

We are coming for you
Any of my friends out there with hyper-mobile joints?
My hips like to dislocate and pop out of place. My left upper femur literally displaced itself out of socket three times across last night and this morning. It scares the crap out of me each time as it makes that leg entirely useless until I can wriggle it back into place.
I’ve had hyper-mobile/flexible joints my entire life, but my hips doing this is somewhat new the last few years.
Any recommendations? Does strengthening the muscles around the joints help with this? I know a lot about anatomy and what not, but ways to remedy and help dislocations is pretty new to me. Feedback would be amazing if you have any. 💜 (And yes, I know a consult with a Dr. is also a good thing. 😂 It’s on my to-do list.)

I know I have super flexy friends but wasn’t sure if you were hyper mobile. 💕
I have hyper mobility in some of my joints and yes, having strength in the joints does help with any pain and soreness. You should also check out hypermobileyogis on Instagram as they have some good posts about it.
A little meat hook progress on the hoop and straps! I also tried it on slings this evening and it is so much harder than on straps (and it's pretty hard on straps!)
A little routine from Saturday on slings. A bit messy and I collapsed a bit in the middle, but after back to classes I'm okay with that. And of course, we tried it in a spin! 😉
Kitty photobomb!!! 😸 Also TONIGHT and Wednesday come see Baba Yaga, the ice girl, the golden fish, Kashei the deathless, the Firebird and many more of your favorite childhood characters on stage, in the air performing live. We are honoring traditional Slavic folklore with the art of circus. I adore this! Beautiful pose and photo!
Now how do I get down...?
Tried my first illusion today. It's not perfect but I'm very pleased!! I even managed to get through with only one beat!! I can't tell you how pleased I was! Well maybe you can tell from my face and exclamation! Thank you @_mishmash!
To the Student Who…
(a post about the struggle)
To the student who’s trying a new skill, and it’s not coming easily. When you feel the heat rise in your neck and cheeks, and your eyes start to tear up, and your world shrinks in to include just you, the silk and your struggle:
I see you, and I know your discomfort is temporary.
If I’ve taught you for a while and I know you’ve got this, I may let you be. I trust you to find the line between pushing yourself and calming yourself. If I don’t know you well, I may approach you and pull you out of the tiny world where the only thing is that you CAN’T DO THE MOVE.
I may tell you that in my first silks class ever, I cried. I couldn’t even climb. I was incredibly frustrated and disappointed in myself. I had come in with visions of effortlessly floating, of amazing the instructor with my innate grace. I left with puffy eyes and a snot-headache.
And then I came back. And I still couldn’t climb. And then I came back, and then I came back and then I came back. And slowly, almost imperceptibly, I grew into the aerialist I am today. There are moments of epiphany ahead, and moments when something that you expect to defeat you comes naturally. This moment doesn’t cancel out those moments. This moment fuels them.
