aven seeming like this crazy, dangerous, evil & untrustworthy guy most of the time except he’s actually quite sincere and “normal” underneath all those big bets he needs to make. sunday looking like this calm, put-together, reasonable and safe-to-trust guy but he’s extreme enough under that “normal” front to agree to a plan essentially to enslave everyone. one’s a normal (very sad) person wrapped in layers of fantastic deception, one’s a warped soul (also sad) underneath layers of normalcy.

they’re similar in the way they both armored themselves with sweeping facades that took control and set the tone of the stage, but contrast in what penacony did to them. aven ran towards death as he recalled his past, his broken self seen and confronted, before finding resolution from that impasse (when he chose death) to live on. sunday went towards paradise, seemingly all that he wanted and the answer to everything, almost ascending before crashing into disjointed pieces - 2.7 mirrored aven’s story in a lot of ways, but it also highlighted how they contrast: aven’s other selves felt like him even if aven himself wasn’t fully them (there was some kind of distance, being unable to fully embrace), whereas wonweek was narratively another person until the reveal; aven couldn’t let go of his past nor deny the future he was becoming, in the end finding a reason to keep holding on to that precarious balance, while sunday really alienated the part of himself he killed off while growing up, in the end accepting what he hated into himself. one had always lived with those contrasting pieces and struggled to continue with all his wounds, one had lived denying what he couldn’t accept and struggled to continue with what he did to others.

the pieces became one at the end but meaning was different - aven finding his way forward still broken but with a reason to hold on whereas sunday found his way by mending himself, trying to absorb the pieces and see what happens. one wanted all the pieces but it was too hard to hold on until now, the other did not accept the pieces but decided to absorb them now regardless. one walked at the edge holding on crazy contradictions, the other stood on the other end holding crazy consistence; both finding better balance at the end, but aven continues dancing on the line of win and loss while sunday achieves realer consistency with himself. aven is less “broken” now, least not running towards death while sunday is more “broken” than before, more lost and uncertain even if his current self is mentally more peaceful.

one gains some balance to the chaos, one adds some chaos to the balance. two sides of the same coin they are ✨
