I think about this story every time I listen to HMLAG, but it never occurred to me to see if anyone recorded it until tonight.

This was one of the “secret” shows they played right before Folie. Specifically, the North Star Bar (RIP) in Philly.

(I didn’t have a car at the time, so I walked 5 miles at 4am to be one of the first people in line. They gave us wristbands and told us to come back at whatever time. Cell phones did not yet have the entire Internet inside of them, so I had nothing to do for like 12 hours. Wow I’m just now realizing that I could have walked home, taken a nap, and walked back in plenty of time, but instead I just like, sat? On a curb? For hours? Hilarious.)

I love these moments when I listen to a fob song and some of the lyrics make zero sense, and then years later someone points out something like this and I’m like: “oh.”

The thing about this is. What the heck is "Ravinia...a bottle of wine..." about? Like, this is apparently how he pitches Patrick. He sets up little seduction scenes with bottles of wine. There is literally no other explanation for Pete throwing a random bottle of wine reference in there. "We'll go on a date to Ravinia" is basically the only explanation for that sentence lol

I fucking love Patrick Stump so much man it's not even a joke.

Patrick will really open his mouth and the most angelic thing you've ever heard will come out, and everyone watches, everyone is quiet, everyone's in sheer awe of the utter talent he possesses, the press will be alerted, the president will be called, the world will stop just to watch this man fucking sing. The sky will split open, God's light will shine down from above, angels will descend from Heaven, and then he'll stop and just like shrug and laugh it off as though it was nothing.

I'd take a bullet for this man. I mean it. Without hesitation.
