i had the strangest dream about ... well, it wasn't the end of days, but it was that kinda lead-up. And an old friend i no longer talk to for hella reasons was the main secondary character. which is weird except that she usually is because Brains 🙄 anyway, humanity had discovered space exploration (yanno, Star Trek-esque, but way more modest. gave me Treasure Planet vibes), and we were on one of the ships. there was a wormhole. we went through it. we discovered another planet Earth. only, it wasn't inhabitable because it was just a mirror image of Earth. as in, flat. like an interactive map. just the continents suspended in space.
we very quickly turn the ship around, race back through the wormhole-turned-possible-blackhole and discuss how half of space is actually just a mirrored image of the space we live in.
also there were giant, goofy space worms that came in sea slug colors, like teal and black or pink and green. very 90s cartoon-y. they were pets. mine liked to be tickled and hated cats. i really hope i dream of Rufus again...
When God created ADHDers
🧔🏼♀️: *proudly gazing upon his creation* there, all done. Angel: how is that not exactly the same thing you've already done? *hitches thumb in direction of other humans* 🧔🏼♀️: remember when we discussed their capacity to look at the bigger picture? that it took prompting instead of being an innate ability, even though, when they can see things more clearly, it helps them reduce stress? 😁
Angel: *nods hesitantly* 🧔🏼♀️: whelp 👏🏼 problem solved 😁
Angel: *peers down* it's not...moving.
🧔🏼♀️: huh?
Angel: it actually looks overwhelmed
ADHDer: 😨😵💫🫠🫥💀
🧔🏼♀️: what's happening? Angel: I think it's measuring every single step of what it wants to do against the time it has to do it in a day.
🧔🏼♀️: *confused* *flips through papers, throws them around, scans for the right equation* that's not right. It's supposed to see the bigger picture, not get it all done in a---ooooohhhh no. Angel: ?? 🧔🏼♀️: I forgot to adjust its concept of time...
Angel: Great. So, now it measures the bigger picture the way one of the regular ones measures a single step 🙄 🧔🏼♀️: *pinches bridge of nose* we can readjust it. There's only one of them; I'll just *flaps hand* do what I do and...where'd it go? Angel: *looks down. looks back* It disguised itself as one of the regular ones and bred with it...
🧔🏼♀️: iT's A cHaMeLeOn ToO!?
Tornado Tasking
noun
The indulgence of two or more hobbies. Examples include: writing, reading, and chatting about fanfic while also experimenting with a new recipe. Or: watching YouTube videos and that new fandom movie, sewing a Cosplay fit, and singing K-Pop songs all at once.
Tasks triggered by visual or aural cues. For example, doing laundry which led to patching that pair of jeans left in the corner for a month, which led to sorting shoes, which led to assembling all the necessary pieces for a DIY project that didn't exist until 20 minutes ago (when it was inspired by the sight of the impulse-buy used-magazine-holder stuffed in the closet behind the previously-unsorted-shoes), which led to finding Pinterest Inspo and watching the how-to on YouTube to estimate appropriate Spoon Output...
ADHD Soup
noun 1. all of an ADHDers current hyperfixations assembled in one place. Examples include, but are not limited to: drawer, journal, photo album, shed, shelf, shoebox, webpage, etc. 2. the vortex of words an ADHDer unleashes toward the closest familiar ear when hyperfixations simultaneously engage in fisticuffs for brain-space dominance. May also manifest as Tornado Tasking. Closest Ear: "It's all ADHD Soup to me..."
