Welcome and thank you to all new followers! It's time to update this post, I have made five new Middle-earth cosplays since I first posted it. Here is an overview of my Tolkien cosplays, most of them own designs for Silmarillion characters. The gallery isn't complete since for some characters I have different outfits, but these are the main ones.

I wanted to represent the scene with my style, it's probably a bit unusual concept (to see them like this😅), but Melkor is a fairly complex character and I like to give him a bit of humanity and fragility relegating him to the role of Vala decayed.

The Rescue of Maedhros

The minute I saw Varang in the trailers and later in the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash, I wanted to cosplay her. However, I still hesitated because I don't exactly have the body type of a Na'vi. But I really wanted to try, so I made the daggers, bought the jumpsuit and since I wasn't too happy about the headpiece that came with it, also made the headpiece. My plan was to have some photos taken and if I didn't like them, I wouldn't post them. Well, yesterday my dear friend Little_solnyshka took many photos - I never thought I would use the dead and dying trees around here for a photoshoot background, but they were the perfect backdrop for Varang (since a volcano was out of the question).

And I really love a lot of the photos, so here's the first one. I will post a lot more of them.

First proper look at my original ‘celestial’ Gale design, created specifically for the Cosplay Met Gala at Katsucon!

I have always been a ‘magic and stars’ lad, so when I saw that this year’s gala theme was ‘Starlight and Sorcery’, I found myself staring at my current cosplay muse (Gale) and went ‘…oh no, what if I did this?’ And honestly, when he fits the theme so perfectly, how could I say no?

I did keep this quieter during the creation stage, mainly because a) I wasn’t sure I would manage to get it done to my satisfaction (or at all tbh) and b) I thought it would be fun to go ‘surprise! Another new Gale besides the camp outfit!’ 😁

I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this, both in terms of designing from scratch rather than replicating AND plucking up the courage to go on stage, and I’m very proud of doing both. So many people came up to me after the stage portion to tell me how much they liked my design and I truly couldn’t thank them enough.

I’ll be sharing more detail photos, as well as a behind the scenes of my thought process behind the design, so stay tuned!

(And as you can see I had a lot of fun photo editing 😄)

One of my new cosplays from last year was the Eregion guard. It was, to my surprise, the most comfortable Worbla armor I've ever made... don't ask me how and why. But I definitely want to wear it again this year and get a couple more photos of him in a fitting location.

Eeee it’s the full Galadriel travel costume! It was absolutely amazing finally putting on all these pieces after working on them for the past year and a half!

Featuring a trapunto-quilted linen gambeson, steel chainmail skirt with crystals, hand-tooled belts, etched and painted bracers, and a custom dyed, hand-embroidered pleated wool cape 💚
