The Lovers by Jef Joseph Marie Thomas Lambeaux (1852-1908)
This bronze sculpture is known as The Lovers or The Sapphic Lovers, created by the Belgian sculptor Jef Lambeaux (1852–1908).
The artwork features two female figures intertwined and is noted for being a particularly forward and bold display of homoeroticism for a 19th-century sculpture.
Similar bronze casts of this piece have appeared at auction, with a known example measuring approximately 63cm high
