Me when talking about the books to new Percy Jackson fans who have only watched the show:
Suzanne collins wrote a trilogy where a main media propaganda strategy was to market a horrific act of violence as a love story to distract ppl and then it got adapted into a box office breaking movie and ppl made it all about the love triangle. so then since they didn’t get the point the first time Suzanne collins wrote a prequel story about the main dictator and she makes it so that you as a reader want it to be a genuine love story so badly even tho it’s so very clearly not and instead feels extremely unsettling to make her point even more meta which then gets adapted into another box office breaking film and now ppl are making romantic snowbaird tik toks. do u think she’s gonna write another book that’s somehow even more blatant or just give up and start executing ppl? hard to say but I wouldn’t blame her for the second one
I genuinely think that this dynamic is a normal response from an audience accustomed to non-politicized content, in a context of a capitalist, naïve and superficial mass culture... I remember reading THG when i was a teenager ten years ago and although I liked the political background I really cared about Katniss - Peeta ship. It wasn't until a couple years ago, when I read "The ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" in my twenties, already politicized, when I could re-read the trilogy and appreciated the political criticism background.
As in the story, capitalism and mass media despoliticizing THG is a way so we don't see the parallels with our current reality. That's the reason books are deeper (in fact, when you read TBOSAS is impossible to idealize Snow nor romanticize his relationship with Lucy Gray because you can read his thoughts...) and movies are more naive. Neither Hollywood nor to the United States are interested in being seen as they're the Capitoly in international conflicts as Palestine (to give a current example) or national ones as BLM, islamophobia or structural poverty of the country.
Despite all of this, I really think that the potential that dystopian and youth literature like THG have to politicize teens and young adults cannot be abandoned because of it.
i would survive a horror movie
the murderer shows up to my house and im just like sir your vibes are disgusting
The other day I learned on Twitter about a girl that was nearlly named after the river on her town. So, reblog with what your name would be if it was based on the river that goes through your town (or the closest river)
what was yalls first internet community you were in? mine was toontown in 2008
Y’all consider people to be too sensitive nowadays but have you ever considered that maybe the things you say aren’t as light hearted as you think and that you sound like a fucking dickhead ?
I can’t cope with the fact that we won’t have the chance to see these three being young!marauders and playing james potter, remus lupin and sirius black. we were stolen
that phrase like, “he looked at her like she was the sun” has always confused me because most people look at the sun like this
“We’re fixing up this spaceship that belongs to our new friend Meap.”
“Meap, he’s the most adorable thing in the world.”
“Really? Are you sure there’s nothing, or no one that’s more adorable?“
“No, not a chance.”
PART 2
“Okay. I jury-rigged Ferb’s old GPS device, to create a cute tracker.”
“It locks on to the cutest thing in the area,”
“so it should lead us right to Meap.”
“Let’s see if we can get a signal.“
“Got something!”
“Oh, that’s probably me. Sorry.”
“No. It’s three miles in that direction.”
Part 3
“Isabella, want to come with me and help me find Meap?“
“Sure!”
“I still haven’t gotten my”
“‘you wouldn’t know cute if it bit your legs off’“
“accomplishment badge.”
“Cool!”
“Let’s go!”
Part 4
“Hmm, I’m having trouble picking up his cute signal.”
“Phineas, since you obviously won’t figure this out on your own,“
“I think I’m the one causing the cute interference.“
“Don’t be silly Isabella.”
“I took into account your cuteness, and adjusted the cute-meter settings accordingly from the beginning.”
“See, look what happens when I change it back to normal.”
Bonus Depiction Of Me Right Now:
Part 5 (from a different episode)
“So, do I know romance or what?”
“what.”
“I said, do I know romance or-”
“I heard you.”
Part 6 (this time with Candace)
“So that’s Uncle Phineas and Ferb as kids?“
“That’s right.”
“And that girl looks like Aunt Isabella.“
“Did you hear that? Aunt Isabella!”
“That means I’m gonna marry Phineas!”
“Or Ferb.”
*clicks tongue*
We didn’t deserve this show
all the kids who used to say they were into everything ‘except rap and country’ have evolved to ‘i’m into everything except country’ and then for a brief period of time even that was being tested by old town road
This is Dolly Parton erasure
