a honest question, you zutara fans really like the idea of katara as fire lady (ruling the nation responsible for her tribe's violence) which is funny because somehow zuko giving up his throne to join the water tribe is never part of the conversation since that wouldn't be romantically appealing right? it's almost like the royalty angle only meant to serve him and katara is just his accessory

I have a feeling that if Zutara was allowed to happen, both their spiritual ages would be like - 30 years younger than what we see in the film.

Disclaimer: this isn’t an anti-aging post or anything like that. I honestly love elderly ZK!! It’s just added commentary to the stress and responsibility both Katara and Zuko have had to carry by themselves at such a young age - hence why they both appear as elderly in the spirit realm.

But in all seriousness, it was really fun experimenting with a casual look for Fire-Lady Katara.

Side note: @yikes-kachowski proposed the idea that Katara accidentally became a fashion icon and is responsible for many fashion trends spreading throughout the Fire Nation. I 100% agree and adopt this head cannon wholeheartedly!!

Also, regarding her forehead symbol, I wanted to draw the mark of bravery she received from Bato. But for the life of me, I couldn’t find a reference for it. If someone could send me a pic for future fanart - you will become my hero

Any fans of “Once Around The Sun” by @tinyhistory ??

OATS will forever be my favourite fic of ALL TIME - not just within the ZK fandom. Not only because of the story and character development, but also because of the style of writing and the authors ability to invite the readers into the experiences of the characters.

I may make another post elaborating on what I mean by that, but not tonight. My brain is mush and I have work in the morning.

Anyway, you’ll probably see more OATS stuff from me hopefully soonish. In the meantime, please enjoy these super messy wips that leave MUCH to the imagination 😂
