A beautiful story of love.
“That's my grandmother, Noelene Phelps. She was a high maintenance woman, not a very good mother or wife and she now lives in a nursing home that my grandfather visits religiously.” Erin
Today marks the anniversary of the historic protests in Tienanmen Square, along with the subsequent crackdown by the Chinese government. Ann (left) was teaching in China at the time on these events. “When I was living there [in China] my students were demonstrating against the Chinese Goverment by laying on the train lines to stop the trains running. They felt very strongly about the lack of democracy and freedom.” Ann
If you could meet anyone on this planet, who would you choose to meet?
"I would, without a doubt, wish I could have met my grandmother."

"The wedding photo is my father's parents Thomas Mahon & Gertrude Nugent. Both their families left Ireland in the 1860's to make a new life farming iat Gowrie Junction, outside of Toowoomba. My grandparents were born c1894 and they married at the end of WW1. 1919. As 'primary producers" (farmers) These families were exempt from military service although Thomas and his father bred and supplied horses to the Australian Light Horse Brigade. Gertrude's intricate gown is sewn by her own hand. They had five children, all who went on to be farmers themselves."

Ms Peel was named so, as she was the great granddaughter of Robert Peel. Peel helped create the modern concept of the police force, leading to a new type of officer known in Ireland as “peelers”.

Bridie (patrick's mother) met hitchhiker Jean, when she found him tired and wet on the side of the road. A severe storm with damaging winds had gnashed upon the village leaving him unable to set up his tent. Bridie kindly took him into her home for a few days while they waited for the storm to clear. Forever if gratitude, Jean photographed her community is Carna as they celebrated their yearly religious festival held in Iolainn Mhic Dara (Mhic Dara Island). He made this book as a thank you for her kindness.

Avtar Kaur Randhawa, like many Indian women was wedded into an arranged marriage. As traditionally practiced in India for many years, Avtar's parents choose who she was to get married to and didn't have much say in the matter. They only met once before the marriage and wedded 20 days later. Avtar's daughter, Harjinder is lucky enough to chose her partner as long as he is a "nice Indian boy".

Danny’s great grandmother was shot in the head by her brutally alcoholic father. Miraculously, she survived the horrific incident but never told the tale. It was upon searching his family archives that Danny discovered the truth. To read the full article click here.
