"Ah? Uh! Hi, everyone. If anyone is still there. I've been very busy with work, but I've got a bit of free time..."
(So, uh, yeah. I'm here.)
“How glorious. It seems like a win-win scenario for the both of us. And I suppose Global Studios would stand to benefit as well, wouldn’t they? Goodness, I hope you’ll get your chance to start on it rather than later.”
It was interesting having two individuals tied together to a common purpose for completely different reasons, but both of them thought highly of this potential experiment in film.
“Oh no, don’t get ahead of yourself. One step at a time, as you say.”
(A sequel? I don’t know how that would work)
"Oh certainly. I'll pitch it to them, get some names in, and bam! We can do the whole thing there." She smiled. She had an awful lot of faith in Global Studios.
"I'll just need to get some information, some derisive works, and what-not. Being based on a true story, it'll take some research, time, and careful planning."
“*Sigh* That’s quite all right. But um, it’s Rhoda, not Rhonda.”
(That’s not even the first time someone has confused my name recently. Oh well…)
“But, have you now? Would that have something to do with the incident you mentioned previously?”
"O-OH! Goodness, me...I'm sorry! Really I am." She blushed. Rhoda, Rhonda. To her excuse, they at least sounded the same. And yet, she was embarrassed her tongue had slipped.
"Well..to be completely honest...yeah...Mr. Hammer..you see, he was attempting to murder the Producer...and frame Will Powers in the meantime...WP was heartbroken."
(She’s quite the passive one, isn’t she? I insulted her other idea for a film to her face and she just took it like some rather bland sandbag. Urgh, I almost feel bad. It was as if I just kicked a puppy and it just stared at me with big, doe eyes. Let’s try and save face.)
“I see what you were going for. I just did not want you to lose focus on what I think may be a better idea. As you say, our movie would draw millions, if not billions, in revenue. It’s just so… perfect! And as it’s based off a true story, people will flock to see just well it stacks up to the real deal. Just to make it clear, I will be winning in the end, yes? After all, that’s how it ended in real life, so it would only be accurate, wouldn’t you say?”
"Ah, yes right! I won't lose focus, Mr. Atmey. I promise." She was smiling once more, lost in her dream. "It will be the perfect way to step off my career and get a foot in the film industry. And you, this will be your moment to be recognized by thousands!"
She paused. "Well, of course you'd win. Unless we planned for a sequel. The continued adventures of deMasque and Atmey. It'd be great, but one step at a time."
(Man, she really is nice. I never would have thought I would have made a new friend just like that.)
“Trays-Be-in?”
(Good Lord, could I have mangled that any worse? Guess French isn’t my strong suit.)
“I’m guessing that’s some sort of french restaurant, right? That’d be cool! I’ve never been to a fancy place like that before. I’m sure it can’t be THAT bad.”
She giggled as he struggle with the pronunciation.
"Close enough." She replied and walked by him. "Ah, well, it's more like a diner, I think. Hard to explain, really. The food doesn't take very good to me and the only person that seems to be there all the time is some old man." She shrugs.
“A-ah… yes… She was…”
“She was the coworker who framed me for the murder that she had committed. And it turned out, she was actually a member of a global smuggling ring, something I had completely missed out on.”
She frowned, feeling bad for having brought it up, now.
"I'm awfully sorry, Miss Rhonda. But I do know what that feels like, to know someone for so long and find out they weren't who they appeared to be." She was, of course, speaking of Jack Hammer.
“Well, all right, I’ll hold you to that, Penny.” he said rather jokingly, following along with her. He kept close as he didn’t really know where she was going.
“Where did you have in mind?” he asked inquistively
(I hope she isn’t leading me to some dark alley to shoot me or something. Urgh… no need to be so paranoid, Buddy. That was one time. Just one time…)
"Don't worry Mr. Faith! Payday is soon! I'll treat you to something nice!" She spoke happily and was pretty dead-set on making it up to him.
"Well, uh...there's nowhere really around here other than Tres Bien, actually. The food is awful, but the coffee is okay." She cocked an eyebrow in his direction.
It was true that she had not the same educational experience as Penny, though it wasn’t something she cared to talk about. She had went to a college for a semester, but was unprepared for the rigors of college life, and flunked out rather quickly. She had returned home more out of shame than anything else. It was soon after that that she was introduced to flight attending as a potential profession and the rest was history.
“Oh, that’s a surprise. You haven’t met a Ms. Cammy Meele yet?”
Normally, she wouldn’t think much of that, but it seemed she and Cammy had been meeting a lot of the same people for whatever reason. It was a odd happening, so to see it subverted was surprising for Rhoda.
Penny adjusts her glasses and shakes her head a bit.
"Cammy Meele..no. Never heard of it. The name rings a bell though, I think I heard it in the news once. Did she have anything to do with the murder you were talking about earlier?" Penny was merely curious.
“Oh, I don’t know. If you’re trying to make the worst cinematic flop since Thomas Maseau’s The Space, then that sounds delightful.”
“Come now, Lady Nichols, people don’t want to watch the bleary tale of a fallen star. They want valiant heroes of noble justice and vile villains of terrifying tyranny locked abreast in eternal combat! Of course, this hero, being yours truly, will win in the end.”
“Above all else, film-goers want me. Or at least, they will want me. They just don’t know it, yet!”
"Well, see, the audiences of today love a good drama and I just thought having an actor who wanted revenge would certainly draw in a crowd.."
"But you're absolutely right! Everyone loves a good movie about a hardened detective and his battle of wits with some mysterious opposition. And they have to be equals, you have to be on the corner of your seat because you have no idea who is going to get the upperhand." She spoke with passionate understanding, theatrics being her life.

/Seems Phoenix lived up to my supposed legacy after all… I should treat him to burgers soon…/
“Yes, I am… He seems to have been doing a fine job while I was...gone. ” She didn’t want to mention he previously dead status. “Maya is my baby sister. She’s always doing her best. It’s good to meet a friend of hers.” /I was scared she wouldn’t have many friends for the longest time…/
"Fine job? He's like the best defense attorney I can think of!" She spoke with much excitement. "Like that time he beat Mr. vonKarma...phew, that was crazy. I kept up with it every time it came on the news. The whol thing was very high profile, very top notch."
When Mia mentioned being gone, Penny decided not to push on it.
"Ah, yes. Maya and I are good friends. We write from time to time, but she lives out in that one place, the village. So I barely get to see her.."
“I assure you, all the workings of Global Studios today are perfectly safe and perfectly legal.” She didn’t want to jeopardize her and Atmey’s hypothetical movie anymore than she had by bringing up the crimes to begin with.
“Of course. I was merely making a general statement, and not any sort of indictment against them. If they’ve rid themselves of that producer with ties to the Mafia, then I’m sure they’re perfectly legitimate. I just don’t care to end up like that Jack Hammer fellow, ha ha.”
Perhaps a joke about murder wasn’t in the best taste, but if Penny couldn’t appreciate those nuances, then that was her problem, not his.
"Ah, yes. That's understandable. Poor Jack. A fallen star driven mad with revenge..."
"Say, that doesn't sound like a bad movie, does it? I could dedicate it to his memory." Penny was always thinking of movies and TV shows and games..it was only naturally she spoke of her interests.
A bit surprised at the outburst, Penny decided to be careful about the subject.
“Well, see, the women actually did love Larry. He complains about his love life on set a lot, you see? But the thing is…poor Larry can’t find Miss Right. Why, I bet you ask? They either dump him cruelly or are involved in a crime. He’s been through a bit, I think.” She sighs. She sometimes craved attention from men, as any young woman would..but she doubted any of them would see something in her.
She smiles as she talks about her job. “Wow, that’s crazy. You must be very experienced. Do you work with any other flight attendants?” A weird question, sure. But, she was the lone stagehand at Global Studios..couldn’t Rhonda be the lone, overworked flight attendant?
“Ah… Well…”
She couldn’t help but feel a bit bad now.
(Shame on you, Rhoda, for being so judgmental without even thinking why he might be that way. A professional wouldn’t do something like that.)
“Well, that’s too bad. I do hope he’ll find someone for her then. I’m just not sure if that’s going to be me. If I were to be active on the, um, dating scene, I’d prefer someone who was a bit more serious and professional.”
“Ah, well, I have been working there for several years now. I’m actually Chief Flight Attendant, you see. But I am only 24, so I’m not what one might call a veteran attendant. To answer your question though, I used to be the only flight attendant for first-class, but um…”
“A former colleague has returned recently to assist me. What luck I have, right? Eh heh…”
She decides to drop the Butz and leave him dropped, as the woman had only seemed more anxious at his second mentioning.
"Ah!" Twenty four. Only..two years or older than Penny, actually. Penny was working on her last year of college, and was lucky she had been bright in high school. She was a journalism major, sure, but she had bigger stars in her eyes...this woman must not have went through the same schooling as Penny. But it was better not to assume.
"An older colleague huh? I don't think I've met anyone else who works with the same company as you.."
He did notice they wore somewhat similar colors. Brown was a nice color, he thought, and well, he could appreciate someone else who liked it.
“Ha, ha, thanks! It’s good to know two people can rock a color like brown.”
Now this was unexpected. It seemed to him that she was practically asking him out. That certainly wasn’t what he planned when he first introduced himself to her, but it wouldn’t be so bad, he thought. Penny seemed like a nice young woman, and it couldn’t hurt to just get a cup of coffee somewhere, would it?
“Uh… sure! Why not? I don’t have to be at work for another few hours. Besides, it’d be nice to get to know you a bit more. But, please, if we’re going to do that, let me pay. I’m no savage, you know.”
(Not to mention, I don’t want to put another strain on her finances. She said she was working as a stagehand and going to college. I doubt she’s got money to spare.)
"Alright, fine. You can pay, but I owe you. When my first big movie comes out, you can have free tickets." She walks up by him now and smiles. "Well, come on, then. I know the perfect place."
(Gee, what a gentleman. Good thing he offered, I've only got about seven dollars on my person..)
Oh! I know that! It’s “The Iron Infant!”
(I’m lucky Miss Maya let me watch all the episodes with her!!)
Do you believe me now…?
"Hm, you're right. I suppose I'll believe you, then." She teased. She still had her doubts, but she suppose she'd play along. "So what's on your mind, Mr. Edgeworth?" She asks the boy.
“A-ah, you think?”
She couldn’t help but blush somewhat at the thought of someone thinking she was as attractive as a model, especially someone who had apparently dated models. Still, hearing that he had flirted in such a way with other women offended her a bit. She thought, perhaps foolishly so, that she was actually special in his eyes. Then again, they had just met, so it was likely just a foolish thought of her’s. She paused for a moment to think about how she really felt about it all.
“Hrmm….”
She settled with just being offended at the thought.
“Hmph. Well, I’m not just another trophy for him to have on his mantle of women. I-I’m a lady! I’m glad I rejected him when I had the chance to do so!”
She realized soon that little outburst was hardly professional or something Penny had any reason to care about.
“A-ah, excuse me, ma’am. That was very unprofessional of me. Please forgive me.”
She tried to calm herself down and focus on the other question she had asked, and thankfully, it was more about her job, which she never shied away from talking about.
“Oh, well, it certainly isn’t what I would define as ‘easy’. It’s similar to your job, in a sense. We flight attendants assist and attend to the general well-being of the passengers and the plane itself. Whether it’s fetching papers for business-men, or just making sure the plane doesn’t crash into the ocean, flight attendants have a wide variety of duties that must be done in order to ensure an optimal flight experience for all of our passengers.”
“Some may say it’s difficult, but it is the oath that all professional flight attendants take!”
A bit surprised at the outburst, Penny decided to be careful about the subject.
"Well, see, the women actually did love Larry. He complains about his love life on set a lot, you see? But the thing is...poor Larry can't find Miss Right. Why, I bet you ask? Mia tried to think why the girl looked familiar. /Wait…. isn’t that the card girl from when I was dead…?/
“I’m sorry, I’m a defense attorney, just like my protege, Mr. Wright.” She was happy to see him being remembered and known by all sorts of people. Part of her felt like a proud mama bird. “Miss Nichols, you look very familiar…”
"OH my GOSH! YOU'RE PHOENIX'S MENTOR?!" She seemed VERY happy, now. "I'm like..one of his big fans! I love how he does the pointing thing, did you teach him that?" She decided that Mia was, by default, someone to be a fan of. She knew Mia probably wasn't used to this treatment though, so she did her best to calm herself down.
"Ah, do I? Wait..Fey! I know a Maya Fey. Is she related to you? We're pretty good friends." She didn't want Mia to know the two kept in contact over the Steel Samurai, of all things.
“Ah, if you’re really Mr. Edgeworth…tell me something only Mr. Edgeworth would know. That will surely prove it.” Penny had a lot of child in her, so she was willing to play along.
Oof….I-I dunno! I…
My…my daddy’s name is Gregory Edgeworth and he’s a defense attorney! Uh…m-my birthday is on March 15th?? Uh…I-I’m allergic to pollen? I’m left handed??
[Miles really was telling the truth, though how could he prove it to her? Since she knew the older version, it would have been a lot easier if the situation was reversed, but asking the child version about the man he’d grow up to be…this was difficult for him.]
Wh…what do you want me to say?? I’m really telling the truth!
"Hmm...okay!" She grins. "The real Miles Edgeworth knows a lot about the Steel Samurai. If you're the real Edgeworth, then tell me..what is the name of the Steel Samurai's child?"
