My cat at two in the morning
oh i am so genius
instead of purchase one sandwich i can purchase the materials (bread, soap, etc) and make more than one sandwich
physically, yes, i could fight a bird. but emotionally? imagine the toll
new energy drink “carbonated olive oil”
Unlimited energy to Greek people
You can tell how someone’s mental health is doing by paying attention to how much emphasis they put on the line “I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all” when they’re singing bohemian rhapsody
I read this study by @universityofbristol that used ai to model vision in different types of animals. It makes big cats a lot more terrifying. Deer and antelope like to hang out with birds, and the birds give warning calls when they spot a predator. From the deers perspective, the birds must have some psychic ability. Since deer can’t experience these colors, they probably can’t imagine that predators are a completely obvious color to other animals. There’s probably a lot of things that we cannot see, don’t have the words for, and don’t have the capacity to imagine, but they exist. Mr. Hozier, ladies and gentlemen

Therapists are just…. Common sense filters
Me: yeah so I just don’t have the energy to get up and make myself a sandwich or wait for something to cook so I just. Don’t
Her: why don’t you just eat the sandwich components without putting them together
Me:
Her: you can just eat a handful of cheese and some sandwich meat. You don’t have to make a sandwich.
Me:
Me: what
Therapists finding loopholes for mental illness things is one of my favorite things about dealing with mental illness because it really helps me understand that just because a reaction is Common doesn’t mean it’s Right. Does doing dishes stress you out a lot? Buy paper plates. Do your obsessive thoughts make you worry about leaving your curling iron on so you drive home from work to check? Just put the curling iron in your purse and bring it to work with you while we work on tackling where this worry comes from. Symptom management doesn’t have to look like drudgery.
i used to go days without showering because seeing my body was so upsetting that i would end up spiraling and then i realized i could simply turn the lights out. it took some getting used to but i’ve been showering with the lights off for years and it’s now one of my favorite parts of my day.
do whatever you want nothing is real and there’s no need to inflict unnecessary suffering on yourself just to try to seem “normal”
I love this post
Hmmm
These kinds of loopholes make life so. Much. Better.
One of my favorite stories is this lady had extremely bad OCD. Every day she’d be late to work because she was convinced that her hair dryer was going to burn down the house so would always have to turn around and check it. Multiple times a day even. A bunch of doctors tied to “fix” her of that fear, until one day she got a doctor that suggested she bring the hair dryer with her. Other doctors were annoyed, saying that wasn’t a the correct way to help, but she gave it a go. When she had that fear, she’d look over and see the hair dryer unplugged in the seat next to her and was able to carry on. I think it’s such a perfect example of actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard.
That story helped me stop repeatedly checking if my front door was locked. Instead of checking that the door was locked over and over I would check my security system app. If it’s on it will alert me if the front door opens.
“…actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard” should be added to the Hippocratic Oath.

not to sound like a boomer but i am so afraid for so many minors online in this day and age
for real its so upsetting to see, and this is something i saw on twitter tonight, a 13 year old girl defending a post where a 10 year old was wearing an ahegao hoodie at a con, saying she “first watched porn when she was 8” and sees no problem with it, saying ahegao is just “funny faces”, and retweets from notorious pedophiles/lolicon loving freaks
they dont know what the consequences of this kind of shit are and its so fucking scary theyre playing with fire and are so close to getting into an e-relationship with some smelly 30 year old weeb who poses as a teen or trafficked because theyre so desensitized
like i really wanna call child protective services for some of these kids
AGAIN not to sound like a zoomer but back in my day all we had were the shock sites like blue waffle, meatspin, and 2 girls 1 cup. the divide between early gen z and late gen z is unreal with the increasing amount of kids born with an iphone into their hands with the internet at their fingertips from such a young age, and how accessible porn (and a lot of times fostered through influential people with a large audience of children) is now. the brainrot of the mid 2010s online is fucking staggering and the job market for psychologists and therapists is going to skyrocket because of it.
and its disgusting how this isnt widely being talked about
Oh I really do enjoy how the 2020s are shaping up to be a lot like the 1920s. You get a generation of lost kids that grew up during a war. They reject their parents conservative attitudes. The youth has created a resurgence of Dadaism and Nihilism that the older generations don’t understand. An artistic boom replacing the materialistic tendencies of our parents. The queer community is thriving in a way that it hasent been in years. Activism and socialist ideologies are on the rise again. How wonderful. It makes me want to go to Paris and be the next Gertrude Stein
This is a Hot Take that I am HERE FOR.
Maybe it’s the chance to do it right this time! Let’s do this!
