Me: ingests something
My stomach:
You are not a burden for being sick
You are not trouble on someone for being sick
You are not a problem to people around you for being sick
Youre sick, and thats okay, you are not a burden
By all means, talk and raise awareness about depression. But please mention:
•Not showering or brushing your teeth for two weeks •Getting sick from a vitamin D deficiency because you haven’t been outside in a solid month •Getting lightheaded when you stand up from bed because you’ve been laying down for days •The body pains •Shampoo not bubbling because this is the first time you washed your hair in three weeks •Over stimulation •Pity from a distance •'Get over yourself, there’s people *in Africa starving, with cancer, homeless, living in poverty, dying, ect.’ •Massive weight gain •Massive weight loss •Both •Your body literally changing how it looks and deposits fat based on frequent weight gain and loss •Hair loss •Zero self esteem •Breaking out in acne so bad you can’t put your head on a pillow from pain •Being too depressed to commit suicide •Self imposed isolation •Stomach cramps •Nausea •Vomiting •'You’re so dramatic, it can’t be that bad’
If you don’t, I’m not saying you’re not raising awareness, but you definitely need to reevaluate your platform
People don’t want to talk about this because they would rather romanticize depression
Good addition!

There isn’t a time that goes by that I don’t reblog this whenever i stumble across it on this here Le Tunglr website
Ugh I’m part of several support groups for chronic illness on Facebook and someone was reaching out looking for support with how hard they are finding their new dietary restrictions and the first top ten comments were from people going “oh my god do the diet or die, it’s that simple” or “it’s not a hard choice stop complaining” and like yeah okay we get it, we have to do xyz to get better but that doesn’t make it easy.
Food and meal times have a huge social impact, and it’s incredibly hard to become the person sitting at the dinner table sipping on water because your family wanted a meal out. It’s incredibly hard to be the person who makes food for everyone else and then your own restricted meal that no one else partakes in. It’s incredibly hard and alienating to live with such a restricted diet and maybe for some people it’s super easy to just make the change, but for others they need extra help, they need to mourn and grieve for the life they’ve lost. They need friends. They need support. Which is fucking implied in calling yourself a support group and not “nastiness masquerading as tough love” you walnuts.
Like god damn, why is it so hard to just not be a dick to people.
I’m proud of you for waking up each morning, even when it hurts, even when the weight of this life hits the moment your head leaves the pillow, you rise
Children, this is dirt.

Accepting your limitations when you have a chronic illness or disability doesn’t mean you’re lazy or pessimistic. It’s more than ok to acknowledge and respect the fact that there are things you just can’t do. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to put you down or make you feel guilty for saying “no” when you aren’t able to do something.
Just because it isn’t happening as fast as you want, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Take a deep breath and try not to think of recovery as a phase or something that ends; it’s a process, so take a deep breath and acknowledge how far you’ve already come
It’s easier to think of someone as “lazy” than to face the fact that school costs too much, that better jobs are inaccessible, that childcare is unaffordable, that people are forced to work so hard for so little that there’s no way they could have enough energy to attempt schooling or finding better work, and that what we give to people who can’t work is insufficient to the point of being shameful. I could say that calling people lazy is, in itself, lazy, but it’s not just an intellectual shortcut. It’s a defense mechanism.
That’s me that’s me I wrote that!! Omg it makes me so giddy with happiness to see my work on a spreading Tumblr post like this.
Anyway that bowl thing looks amazing and would probably help me to eat a lot more vegetables, and it’s even more amazing if it can help disabled people make salads and save money by not having to buy pre-made salads.
