Domestic Lautski + Steph with the Spankoffskis headcanons cause I just woke up and it’s one of those days
💚 Out of the two of them, Pete was the one that was consciously taught by his parents how to cook. They saw how poorly neglecting to teach Ted that valuable life skill went, so they figured they had a second shot at all their mistakes in Peter as Teddy grew up. Steph on the other hand, can make food that’s edible, but she can’t necessarily cook.
💚 Steph asked Pete’s parents to teach her how to cook a polish Spankoffski family recipe to surprise Peter and despite not being very connected to that heritage beyond food and older relatives, he is extremely touched.
💚 When Steph takes off her bra after a long day and it hurts (cause tig ol biddies will do that), Pete holds em up for her and somehow it’s not sexual to either of them. Well……. Not entirely.
💚 Pete has fallen asleep so many times with his head in her lap and her hands in his hair. Towards the beginning of their relationship, Steph would spend the whole time studying the little details of his face when he’s all peaceful and eventually it became commonplace enough for her to sit on her phone while still carding her hand through his hair
💚 Steph didn’t start off on a particularly good foot with Ted- he just seemed to hate her instantaneously. He would make passive aggressive comments to her that hid the most upsetting accusations like she wasn’t actually into Pete and just stringing the poor guy along until she found someone she actually liked- yes these comments hurt everyone involved, including Mr. and Mrs. Spankoffski, who remember that Ted used to be so similar to Pete before Jenny moved away and he Changed™️. It’s been rough getting him to accept Steph as a permanent fixture in Pete’s life because Pete’s relationship started in such a similar way to how his and Jenny’s would have, and look how well that turned out.
💚 The Spankoffski parents’ reception of Steph was quite the opposite, they absolutely adored her (despite the initial response of “oh dear, the mayor’s delinquent daughter?” that they were soon proven wrong by) but they kept making comments about how they thought Pete would never start dating. Once Steph realized that they were making Pete feel bad saying that, she made it a point to reply to each comment like that in the most chipper tone “glad I have no competition then” while making some sort of contact with him and grinning proudly
💚 The amount that they share clothes is honestly an art form. He borrows her flannels all the time and she loves stealing his stupid nerdy graphic tees that his dad keeps getting him so he stops dressing like that to go to school. Pete knows his dad doesn’t grasp that he’d only get targeted by Max more if he CHANGED HIS LOOK SUDDENLY, and has already decided a long time ago that he can wait to reinvent himself in college if he wants to, so until then Steph gets all his t-shirts if she wants em.
💚 Cuddling while reading together. All snuggled up in each other’s arms and occasionally giving an update on the book when something crazy happens so they can get their reaction mirrored in the other like “(GASP)” “RIGHT??”
💚 Both Pete and Steph regularly cover the other in kisses just for fun- because showing your partner affection is FUN. And whispering to the other sweet things that they’ve heard a million times but could never get tired of hearing as long as it’s their partner saying it
💚 Whenever one of them doesn’t respond over text for a while they joke “depression nap all by yourself, handsome?” “depression nap all by yourself, gorgeous?” and so whenever they nap together and one falls asleep first, they’ll occasionally mutter that and sometimes one fully wakes up cause they were just awake enough to hear it and they laugh too hard (or it’s met with a sleepy little “mm-mm” of disagreement and holding the other a bit tighter)
